My boyfriend and I ate here last night and I am already so excited to go back! I had the Meat59 burger and it was quite honestly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Messy, but goddamn delicious. The BBQ sauce they use is incredible and the portion size is extremely generous. The halloumi fries are the best I have ever had and I cannot stop dreaming about the sweet chilli jam! We decided to share the salted caramel brownie, which I’m glad we did as again the portion size was huge - as my boyfriend said “the kind of portion size you would want for £6, but never get anywhere else!” The staff are very friendly and welcoming and I love the rustic decor. The chairs aren’t the comfiest but it is a very small price to pay for some wonderfully delicious food. We will certainly be back, and bringing as many people as we can to try this delightful menu again!

This is quite a small restaurant and has a limited menu but they are very good at what they do. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The haloumi fries are the biggest and tastiest I have ever had. The burgers are also excellent being produced locally I believe. This meal was excellent value as the burgers were half price on the evening we visited.

Booked here for Saturday evening burgers with family including 2 children aged 8 and 13. No frills sort of place with benches and music and the Burgers were the best we had the whole holiday. Not too busy. Service was good and we didn’t wait long for the food to be ready. Sweet potato fries bit pricey but very tasty. Would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Arrived on a very busy Friday evening, so expected a bit of a delay. We booked the previous day as we knew it was a popular location to eat. We arrived 15 minutes early and ordered drinks while we waited. I ordered a pint of cider, while my Wife ordered an espresso martini. We waited a good 15 minutes for the drinks arrive, but while I glanced towards the bar I saw the waitress placing the coffee beans (espresso martini has 3 coffee beans placed on top of the drink) by moving them into position with her finger!! Now, I’m not down with all this Covid over the top protection, but sticking your finger in someone’s drink is bang out of order at the best of times! To be fair, the 2 waitresses on the night were pushed to their limit and felt a bit sorry for them as they were doing their best. I could see they were run off their feet and every time they apologised for the long wait I just said “Don’t worry”. We eventually got shown to our table and yet again waited, and waited. I was really looking forward to the meal, the reviews were generally good and the burgers on the menu looked amazing! Finally, our meals arrived... My Wife had the Smoking Cow, and I had the Meat59. My Wife was generally pleased with her burger, but said it just lacked a bit of taste in the burger patty itself. My burger however was bland beyond belief! The bun was dry, the burger patty had hardly any seasoning and was over cooked. It had the chorizo on there and a very small piece of black pudding, but the pulled pork was nonexistent! I actually had to look for it and saw a couple of strands loitering around! Very disappointing. Having said all that I’d try the place again as I believe it has to be better. We’re not the kind of customer to just complain on a whim, and I believe in giving places a second chance. The waitresses worked incredibly hard and even after what I thought was a disappointing visit I still left a tip. But in future, please don’t stick your finger in my Wife’s drink!

I placed a takeaway order for collection which I was told will be ready in 15 mins. I got to the place after 15 mins, paid and waited for another 20 mins. After waiting for this long I went to enquire about my food, upon asking I was told there has been some sort of mistake without further details given and then my order magically appeared. In my opinion they gave my order to someone else as I saw someone returning with a bag and going back with 2 bags. Anyway food is delicious as I have eaten here before but was disappointed this time.

On arrival we were 9 mins early for a 1915 booking we were asked if we could wait outside as our table was not ready on looking across restaurant there were 4 empty tables. We asked if we could get a drink at the bar and were told we can do you a takeaway. We stood outside for about 4 mins and were then called in as our table was ready. Slow to order a round of drinks. We then ordered food 10 mins after we had ordered we were told they had run out of gravey which went with the chips. We also noticed that several other tables were being told items they had ordered had run out. I was recommended to come to this restaurant and was looking forward to it all in all it was very disappointing and will not be recommending to anyone.

Ensure you book and worth a visit. Burgers are succulent and chips are divine Great to see accurately cooked burgers (not over nor under) with a fresh selection of variations in a bun that meets the juicy burger needs. Instead of just a trendy brioche, Meat59 have selected a bun that ensures the eater can hold their burger until the end, even with a mid eat pause and set down. Standard or dirty fries are great (we had both) and onion rings are fresh and non greasy. Selection of drinks add to the options along with the all important milkshakes and pudding (we had a sundae that was great). Service is swift and friendly Great place. Make sure you visit if your in the mood for a belly full of burger!

Great starters and very filling gourmet burgers. Very disappointed that there was no pulled pork available. Pulled pork is a huge part of the menu, as part of many burgers, loaded fries etc. Not having this available on a Saturday evening left us underwhelmed. To then be told we can’t have coffee or espresso martini’s, at 9pm, because you’ve already turned the coffee machine off was another disappointment. There was a number of other tables with guests, why would you assume no one is going to want coffee?

I took my partner to eat there and it was the first time for both of us. On arrival we were welcomed by the lad working front of house. The place had a great atmosphere ( even at 4pm on Sunday ) with great music and a rustic charm. The food was excellent, plenty of it and very reasonable. The house beer was was great too. We both left full and for under £50 including drinks was very reasonable.

Visited here on Saturday 29th May after reading great reviews and wanting something pre booked on a bank holiday weekend . The staff and service is excellent very welcoming , covid safe and a credit to all who have gone to great lengths to make the dining experience as good as it can be. The menu is varied and all of the burgers sound gorgeous making choosing very difficult, there are vegan options too which was good to see. I chose the Meat 59 burger and my partner the Cat Sue chicken burger , we had sided of onion rings , rosemary fries and sweet potato fries. The drinks were served quickly and we had no trouble re ordering more. The food was amazing and we followed it up with chocolate brownie and ice cream which was gorgeous. Would revisit when next in the Torquay area

So I saw Meat 59 and read the reviews online when looking for places to go in Torquay and knew straight away that I’d have to visit. Only a small place, the food just looked fantastic – burgers and loaded fries. Visited on a Tuesday and I have to say, it didn’t disappoint. This is only a small venue, with maybe a dozen tables, so we booked ahead – it was good that we did as there were a number of other diners when we visited. The menu is small, but what an excellent choice – after Halloumi fries to start (some of the best I’ve ever had), I opted for the special burger ‘Love @ First Bite’, packed with garlic and sweet onions, alongside a side of their loaded fries, which were smothered in beautiful pulled pork. The food was simply wonderful – the burger was juicy and full of flavour, the fries the perfect accompaniment. My partner opted for the signature’ Truffle Shuffle’ burger and loaded fries topped with chilli – both were said to be excellent and certainly didn’t hang around for long! Washed dinner down with a couple of pints of Bayshore Brewery’s Devon Rock lager – overall an excellent meal. So good in fact, we returned Thursday and did it all again…. A definite must visit if you are in the area – suggest booking ahead and also have yourself a Chilli Back whilst you’re there… 😊

This is by far the best burger I have ever tasted! Was just walking by the shop and the smell drew me in. Burger was cooked within 10 minutes which for a gourmet burger I find exceptionally fast. Just had a standard meat 59 burger with bacon and just 1 bite into the burger I knew I would be coming back forever!

Service was good, burger (smokin cow) was really nice, but not hot enough in my opinion, sweet potato fries good, slaw had a strange taste and was a huge portion. The seating isn’t very comfortable and as I have a bad back I wasn’t very comfy, the decor and surroundings are a bit dull for my liking and table warm overly clean...now on to the toilet, which is what’s made me decide I will not return here! There is only one unisex toilet, I went to use it and to wash my hands after getting in a mess from eating the burger, well there was no way I was going to use the toilet, the seat was up, there was urine all over the toilet and the floor, it was really bad, it seems as though it didn’t just get like that whilst we were there (we arrived at 7:45pm on a Saturday night), I think it had been left for a while, I washed my hands as quick as possible and got myself out of there, my husband went after me and even he wouldn’t use the toilet and was pretty disgusted. I think they need to rethink this arrangement or be very vigilant when it comes to cleaning it and keeping an eye on the condition of it.

We booked this as a gamble, didn’t know what to expect. Well, we went back a second time! The burgers are insane, we tried the truffle shuffle first time as this was recommended by someone in another store. I have to say this is the best burger we have ever eaten!!! Jesse who worked their was so friendly and fantastic! I wish their was a meat59 in London or Essex I would always be in their! If you visit Torquay this restaurant is a must!!!

I ordered a chicken burger + extra bacon + fries + a side order of onion rings … £23 in total but I had a £20 voucher from Uber eats so my bill was minimal. The burger was stunning but I had to mic the fries and onion rings as they were cool when I received them - this was due to being delivered in a non insulated bag even though it was less than 10 minutes from pick up to delivery. Would I order again? At this price, without a voucher, no
