Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was ok the food was great I’ve been here many times but this time felt a little mithered but the lady serving, and it seems to have lost a little of its charm. Not sure why, I always liked it as it was all...mismatched it slightly more bear and uniform nowMore

Angels is a quirky, old-fashioned little spot nestled on Babbacombe downs. Inside, it is quaint and cosy. The cream tea is honestly one of the best I have ever had in my life, and I am Cornish! You get a wide range of choice of...flavoured scones (I chose white chocolate, my friend ginger) and there are always 'Speciality scones' with more adventurous flavours such as Biscoff and dark chocolate and mint. The (huge!) scones arrive warm, with your choice of jam and a whole pot of clotted cream to share. The tea is loose leaf and served in beautiful china. Overall, it is exceptionally delicious and very reasonably priced. Would 100% recommend after a walk across the downs to warm up.More

We enjoyed Cherub’s Teas at Angels Tea Room today. There was plenty of fillings in the sandwiches. The scones, jam and clotted cream were up to Angel’s usual high standards and warm from the oven. The staff were friendly and helpful. I can’t understand the...recent negative reviews.More

Beautiful location very nice food and overall a very nice experience, We would advise booking as its only a small tea room and is very popular, For us we did find the prices a little on the steep side but I guess this is down...to being situated in a great holiday location with sea views and being very popular. We had two small breakfasts a can a pop and an apple juice and we didn't get any change from £25More

We were invited to join our friends for afternoon tea at Angel's. We had a table in the 'bubble' in the garden so would have been protected from any adverse weather. As it happens it was a lovely day. The food was plentiful! Sandwiches were...proper rounds from a huge selection, not like the dainty fingers you sometimes get. The cake selection was also huge, as was the selection offered. Tea and prosecco added to the experience and the service was always with a smile. For a small operation there were plenty of staff. A box was offered to allow us to take our excess cake home. We had two dogs with us and they too were welcomed with a bowl of water being brought to the table for them.More

Lovely little tea room! We were holidaying in Devon after travelling from Norfolk, and we knew we wanted to have a traditional Devonshire cream tea during our stay. We researched a fair few places and this one kept coming up as the best so we...settled on going here. We hadn't booked so there wasn't any seating available inside, but actually it made a change sitting outside and it was a glorious day anyway, so I am glad we sat outside. There was an excellent choice of scones - it was too difficult to pick which to have! We went for a cherry one and an oreo one in the end which we decided to share so we could try the 2 flavours. Both were absolutely delicious and they were served warm as well which made them even better. The cream tea was £6.10 each which seemed fairly reasonable considering the popular area. My dad had a victoria sponge cake and he said that was really nice. Our only criticism between the 3 of us would be that the tea pot had way too much loose tea in which made it difficult to get much more than a cup each and I personally feel tea bags would be much better. It was quick service, although the staff could have been a bit friendlier and not so 'business' like. The tea room is in a prime location just across the road from the beach. The food was excellent and I highly recommend.More

We visited with our small children, excited about the prospect of a delicious cream tea. When we arrived, we were advised there were no tables inside but we were happy to sit outside as it was fairly sunny and the children were hungry. When our...scones arrived, so did a swarm of wasps! There were absolutely hundreds of them. Hanging from the trees were lots of wasp catchers so the staff clearly knew that there were wasps there. It was really unenjoyable - and the children were scared and couldn’t sit down. I understand that wasps are a feature of nature, but I do feel that the situation should have been explained to us before they took our order. In the end, we left and asked for take away boxes and ate on the green opposite where there were far fewer wasps. Other customers told us that they hadn’t enjoyed themselves either because of the wasps. I just think it would have been courteous to either warn us about the wasps before taking our order, tell us to come back later when tables were available inside or offer a take away in the first instance. The whole experience was very unenjoyable and stressful. To add insult to injury, they were reluctant to lend us a knife and also didn’t offer any take away cups for our drinks. Due to the discourtesy, I wouldn’t recommend coming here, even though the scones were nice when not covered with wasps!More

My daughter and I both had a gf cream tea. She went plain and I had fruit. Beautifully presented, with plenty of jam and an entire tub of clotted cream between us. Would love to return with more guests and sit in the igloo outside.

Everyone loves a cream tea but angels has massively gone down hill. The cream teas used to be served on a gorgeous cake stand with your sandwiches so two of you can share with lots of pics being taken of them as gorgeous presentation. Not...anymore! They are served on a standard boring plate. The tea used to be served in really cute old china tea cup and saucers, now they are served in cheap naff teacups. The place is drab and needs a good clean and freshen up. My chair was stuck down with gaffer tape, crumbs all over the floor, cheap supermarket own bread, tatty interior and plastic galore. Dont go in there if youre one for no plastic, we had 14 individual tubs of plastic on our table. Its not covid anymore, no one wants to see their jam and cream all in separate plastic pots, all that wasted plastic to end up in the bin ! The experience it once was is definitely gone. Go somewhere else people.More

Still a very nice tearoom, high tea very nice, still wish they served jam and clotted cream in little dishes like they used to,jam in a pre packed small plastic container not so nice. I understand this tearoom is busy but what I object to...is when you order another pot of tea you are told , you only have another ten minuets before you have to leave the table so you would need to drink it quick. On last visit we hadn’t eaten all our scones and cake , we were told you have to leave now , and they boxed the remaining cakes up for us, none of us are these boxed up half eaten cakes! Very poor customer service. We are all locals and loved using this tea room all year, but we won’t be going back. Such a shameMore

yes, but is difficult in the summer time, it is possible to park in the " Walls Hill Down " car park next to the "Old Coach House " pub, you will have to pay, but worth the walk if you have time.
