We needed two birthday cakes that were gluten free and vegan so we ordered from Wolfie and Janey. The cakes were AMAZING!! Everyone commented on how delicious they were and we even had a little bit left over to eat the next day which was a real treat! I also wanted to mention that Wolfie very kindly home delivered the cakes to us which was a really nice touch. Thank you so much

We were enjoying shopping in Totnes while on holiday and knew by recommendation of this deli. Service was swift, and we soon had menus, soft drinks served and some delicious food, prepared on the premises, which we chose from an interesting selection. This was a refreshing change from the lunchtime menus so often found these days, and we thought too that our meals represented very good value for money. We hope they continue to do well.

Fantastic lunch here. I had ana amzing salad with beautifully crafted greens and butter beans as well as homemade hummus and the best Mediterranean roasted vegetables in Devon. The dressing was amazing and I believe they sell this to customers to take home. A fantastic spot and reasonably priced. Pleasant staff, it’s one to try!

We arrived at 13:45 on a Saturday yet all three quiche options, and the baguettes were sold out which was a shame. We ordered two sandwiches and a black coffee which took half an hour to arrive despite there being three staff members and only two other tables occupied. I'm not sure why they took so long. Both sandwiches were quite bland and not worth the money we paid. I think what was most off-putting was that we could see the kitchen staff was touching our sandwich ingredients and then her hair, and our sandwiches arrived with fingermarks in, presumably to squash them down before serving. Disappointed we'd paid upfront.

Having searched out a highly rated cafe for a gluten free lunch for four, we got seating in the small and attractive cafe. But having ordered 2 sandwiches, 2 quiches and 2 drinks we waited without any feedback for well over an hour. The three staff were milling around serving the 8 other customers without a nod in our direction and we waited. And waited. When the food did eventually come (3 of the 4 as ordered and one plate at a time) it was nice, although my 2nd attempt at the correct quiche that I had ordered was ridiculously hot. Also, given the price the sandwich portions were tiny. Although I had really wanted a coffee and had ordered one beforehand, we gave up waiting for it and left. A real disappointment and no idea how it could have taken 3 people anywhere near 75 minutes to make some sarnies and heat up 2 pieces of the same quiche. Not cheap for the privilege of awful service.

As a small family owned business it is always very upsetting to such a disappointing review, as we work very hard to produce quality home cooked food, specialising in our gluten free options. We know that we were not in on the day you visited as no customer has ever waited more than half the time you did for your food, and we will be addressing this with the team. We do hope that you did mention your wait to the staff at the time ? It is is much easier to deal with issues that arise on the spot than retrosprectively, and our staff are trained to address any customer concerns or pass them on to us if they can't resolve them at the time. We'd be happy to do that with you now if you'd like to get in touch as we'd like to have the opportunity to apologise for your uncharacteristically disappointing experience.

We went here for brunch and a coffee we both ordered eggs supreme (poached eggs with Smoked salmon and Hollandaise sauce). The place was quite busy but all the other tables where eating, despite this our food took 30mins to be served. When it camp out the toast was soggy, the eggs where tiny, cold and the yolks where rock hard. There was a small bit of salmon and a drop of very vinigary sauce. 🤮For over £10 🥵. I wanted to kick off but my wife didn’t want to make a scene. My coffee wasn’t bad but my wife said hers was like dish water. So I would avoid at all costs. There are a lot better places to spend your money in totes.

We're very sorry to hear of your disappointing breakfast experience with us. We've now had 2 reviews like this recently and it's very upsetting for us after 6 years of hard work and postive reviews. We've addressed this with the team so we do not have any future incidents such as this. Whilst I am glad you did not "kick off" or "make a scene", it is much easier for us to address the issues if you raise them with us at the time so we can make recompense.

The coffees were nice and the salad was good, if quite small. Quiches looked nice. They were busy but we waited quite a while for the food. Eggs Benedict arrived - one slice of thin bread, cold, watery eggs and with solid yolks (we weren't asked for our preference). Complained to the manager and received an insincere apology but no offer of a partial refund, redoing the dish, a cake or something etc. Very disappointing overall for a £12 dish. The two of us who had it are leaving hungry. I wouldn't recommend or return.

We're really glad you enjoyed your coffee and salad. So sorry that the Eggs Benedict was so disappointing and that you didn't get a resolution from the staff member you spoke to. This is not usually the way we manage situations such as this when it occasionally goes wrong. We take our customer service very seriously and so we're particularly disappointed that this experience resulted in such a very poor review.

First visit back for 4 years - during which time they’ve put in some lovely wood panelling and lights. Cosy atmosphere- and a quality flat white coffee was very welcome on a rainy day. I tasted a walnut, leek and blue cheese quiche- tasty with good crunchy pastry. Would love to work through the whole menu! Recommended for a pit stop on a day in Totnes.

Before the lockdown's I have previously visited The Wild Fig and enjoyed their food, but just recently I used them twice for takeway food. On the first occasion it was for a lunch with my friend. I did not want to prepare it myself as my friend does not eat meat or anything containing dairy. The second was some cake for a coffee morning that I was hosting. On both occasions I phoned to order about 48 hours in advance and the staff were very helpful in aiding me with the selection of food and were cheerful and friendly when I collected the orders. The lunch included a vegan dairy free quiche, which really impressed my friend as it had been a long while since she had tasted one, coleslaw, crab sandwiches, smoked salmon sandwiches and to follow we had some delicious Tunisian cake. For the coffee morning I took large portions of the Tunisian cake as I liked so much and a scrumptious apple and cinnamon cake to divide up between the 10 or so people at the coffee morning.

We asked The lovely Janey to provide us with picnic boxes for our vegan wedding guests. I collected them and the smell was amazing! We had a mix of wraps, tart and salads in the boxes. The guests thoroughly enjoyed their boxes, all of them asking where they were from.... Some of the best vegan food they ever had apparently! One of our guests enjoyed his so much he had 2... There was plenty of food in each one but he wanted to try a different box! I have been into the cafe and the food coming out had me salivating. Looking forward to going over with a friend for lunch.

Wonderfully tasty food and friendly service. They do wraps , salads and cakes. We all enjoyed our food. My crushed avocado and poached egg with chilli flakes was perfect. The best I've ever had. Friendly knowledgeable people with their own recipes. Look out for a recipe book soon. Thoroughly recommended. There's not much space to eat in, but just ask for take out instead.

I don't eat out very often, as I tend to find it a fairly stressful experience due to dietary restrictions, but I was very happy to come across this lovely, independent cafe during a visit to Totnes. The people working there were very friendly and helpful, and there was a great variety of gluten-free and vegan food available. I had a very generous piece of chocolate and courgette cake, which I was slightly sceptical about, but it was amazing -- whereas chocolate cake is often a bit dry, this was very moist and smooth, and the icing was delicious! My parents went for savoury options, and said they were very tasty as well. Thank you for a lovely treat!

A lovely cafe, excellent quiche and salad. Service was quick and friendly. All food is cooked on site loads of gluten free and looked very appetising. I always drink decaf. The coffee was freshly ground and tasted great. Definitely will go here again

Always like to visit this great cafe when in Totnes. Came across it a few years ago and been back many times. On first glance, it appears to cater to specialist tastes. However, when you see the menu there are choices for all. Some plant based, but not all I am particularly happy with the Gluten Free options which includes sandwiches, quiches and all the cakes. Food itself is well presented, good value and full of flavour

On a brief visit to Totnes, I happened upon the Wild Fig. The lovely owner looked after my shopping while I visited the loos in Market Square (Covid has caused another problem for him because his toilets are 'out the back' and customer use would require a thorough sanitisation of areas passed through on each visit - clearly impossible to sustain) and on my return I chose a soup and 3 salads, all of which were very fresh and full of heavenly authentic flavours. I have to say that my only regret was over-ordering on salads, so that there was no room left for the amazing array of gluten free cakes on offer! My coffee was also lovely. All in all, I felt that, if I were a local, the Wild Fig would be my go-to eatery of choice. A great experience.
