Met friends and had a superb meal here, food was excellent and hot when it hit the table. Four different dishes ordered and all were perfect, portion size is good and the prices were very reasonable. The staff were super and nothing was to much trouble, tables well spaced and every effort is made to make you comfortable. Well recommended and will definitely return especiaĺly for the Steak pie Minted potatoes and peas.

Visited here yesterday (7th July) having taken a steam train trip from Buckfastleigh to Totnes, just to kill time while my car was being serviced. This was the first place we came to after walking into town, from the station. The sign outside said ' pub, kitchen, rooms' and we wanted lunch! The menu was displayed outside, with everything clearly priced and a board offered a choice of 4 'roast of the day', which we chose - 1 turkey roast and 1 beef roast. We were not disappointed. The meals were nicely presented, good portions, well cooked and well priced! We had good, friendly and polite attention and would highly recommend

We came across this lovely pub on a Wednesday afternoon. My husband looked at the menu and said they did 2 roasts for £16. I am a connoisseur of roast dinners! It was absolutely delicious. The beef was really tasty & tender, the veg was piping hot & plentiful, the Yorkshire puddings were huge and home-made and the gravy was just amazing. I would recommend this pub.

We had one of the best meals of our month long trip to the UK in this pub. The hot stones steak and the roast of the day were not only delectable but reasonably priced. Washing this down with local cider and scrumpy just embellished what was already a great meal. To add even more to this was the patient and gracious service by bartender Jake.

After being in here a few years ago, and had a lovely meal we returned over may bank holiday, to find, if anything it was an even better meal. My husband had the freshly cooked Cod and chips, which he remarked was probably the best he had ever ate, and he has had cod and chips from all over the UK including Whitby, Scotland etc. I had the creamy tarragon chicken which was also very tasty and such good value. The guys who served us were really a pleasure see, such firendly manners, and treated all their customers the same, which cannot be said of the deli cafe up the street!! It was also nice to have plenty of space between the tables, as a lot of places cannot really offer this due to the size of the small establishments...so this was an added bonus....Thank you for caring about your customers.

Visiting Totnes on holiday, looking for somewhere to grab some lunch and saw a sign outside advertising roast dinners so went in on a whim. Friendly service, an man, the food was amazing, not the typical stuff you get in the well known "roast dinner" places.. - Proper pub food, amazing rich taste, and really generous portions. I did not feel short changed. We were travelling with our toddler, and they were quite happy about providing highchair, and additional plate so we could share our food with her. (She is too small to want a child's portion yet). If i find myself in Totnes again, i absolutely will be going back for another meal!

We stopped here as it looked welcoming and although it was very busy, we were found seats quickly. We ordered roast lunches and were served fresh seasonal vegetables, homeade crispy roast potatoes, large homeade yorkshire puddings and a choice of meats. It was a delicious lunch and very well priced. The service was polite and attentive. We couldn't fault anything and highly recommend a stop off here when visiting Totnes.

Just what Totnes needs! Great choice of Steaks served on a hot stone. We had 4 x 10oz Rumps served with all the trimmings. Great added bonus is the sides of garlic butter, peppercorn sauce and garlic Mayo, so if you are like me and cannot decide on a sauce this is fab. Highly recommend. We are already planing our next visit.

Mothers' Day in Totnes, everywhere full. We walked around looking for a good stop for Sunday Roast, and came past the King William IV. The Manager was delightful, and although 'fully booked' he made space for two, moved tables around. We ordered Lamb roast, and after only a short wait, a piping hot and plentiful meal was served. What a delight - 'meat and six veg' - plates full and everything done to perfection. It has been a long time since I have had such a superb roast dinner 'just like mother makes'! Nothing was too much trouble, Staff excellent. I really cannot fault this pub in any way, and it is a pleasure to write a five star review.

An immaculately clean and comfortable pub situated in the heart of historic Totnes. We received a warm welcome on arrival and ordered drinks from a bar that offered a wide range of drinks including three local real ales. (THE Jail Ale was in excellent condition!) The food menu offered a fabulous selection ranging from sandwiches to a choice of three roasts. A choice of daily specials completed the range. Food cooked to order was served promptly and piping hot and was delicious.

We have been eating here and at the 'sister pub' The Dartmouth Inn' for several years now. Always the standard of the food exceeds our expectations. Always the welcoming bar staff and friendly atmosphere make us want to spend time here. And always at the end of the visit we are pleasantly pleased with the very reasonable costs for not only the drinks but the food as well. What more is there to wish for?

Just had an amazing Sunday Roast at this lovely pub. Two dinners for £16. We both had the lamb. Meat was tender, roast potatoes crispy, Yorkshire pudding to die and all the veg cooked well. Will be going again if back in this neck or woods one day.

Me and my 3 year old came here, after a horrible visit to “the nelson”, i was told to “take it out”, because my daughter was playing with there fruit machine. I finished work at 2, so picked my daughter up from her dads. And The King William staff were brilliant with my daughter, i explained what had just happened, they were not surprised, i brought my daughter an apple juice and i had a coke, i even asked the bartender for a pen and bit of paper so my daughter could draw, he was more then happy to do it. We then shared cheesy chips, and a lady brought our food out, i think her name was Kate or Katie. She was brilliant, and so lovely to my daughter. Definitely recommend this place for family, amazing staff!!!

The food at The King William is excellent. I would particularly recommend the vegetarian roast which is full of flavour, a generous sized portion and very reasonably priced. The staff are very helpful and attentive too. A very enjoyable visit. Well worth checking out.
