The food is really tasty and excellent value for money. I had a roast, the lamb was cooked perfectly and the vegetables are fresh. The staff are really friendly.

Great food, great service, and great price. The food is delicious, I’d go as far to say it’s the best in Totnes. The staff and service is amazing, I cannot fault them with anything, very welcoming. All of this is at a good price.
The staff were so friendly, helpful and the location in town was great. Right in the middle of the high street with loads of great unique shops and restaurants. Accomodation very worn, bathroom needs refurbing, lots of cobwebs, the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable,...nowhere to hang clothes and they had a very very bright light outside the window until it closed for the evening. It was very noisy as some sort of event was happening downstairs.More
Visited Totnes for the first time. What an absolute gem of a high street! Needed a decent lunch after walking up and down the steep hills. Walked into this lovely pub and was immediately greeted by a lovely bartender who served us drinks while we...looked through the menu. I chose the West Country kedgeree. My daughter who was very hungry after swimming chose the steak pie. My goodness their food is awesome! The kedgeree was so tasty and moreish despite being full I greedily forced myself to finish it. My daughter wolfed down the steak pie which was packed with tender meat and a rich gravy. Chips were beautiful too. One of the best lunches we’ve ever had. I can’t recommend this pub enough.More
Wonderful pub Wonderful service Wonderful food Walked in during a Rugby game, given a table and a fabulous greeting immediately. Had a great meal with my teenage daughters. Loved it we all did ! Couldn’t fault it one bit !! Thanks
Nice comfortable pub on the corner of a busy street. Friendly bartender. Good cask-conditioned ales.
Top notch food. Every meal we ordered was amazing, I’ve never felt so full eating a sandwich! Beef and horseradish baguette with chips, homemade beef chilli and rice, chicken fajitas and a roast beef all came out timely and no complaints from my family who...happy danced the whole time they were eating.More
Quaint pub in a great location, bonus right?… I was greeted by the most unfriendly of barmen, the elder of the 2 on that day; what a welcome?! And then followed by a mixed bag of food, some good some bad. Not worth a re-visit,...there’s so much more choice.More
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch today. A great roast dinner, burger and baguettes. Huge portions. Great, friendly service. Well worth a visit.
Terrible. Pleasant service but appalling food, superbasic crab salad and plonky wine, plus awful racket from echoing walls and floors and deafening music. Never again.
Our first visit to Totnes and we happened to stumble upon this lovely pub. What attracted us was the sign outside saying they did roasts every day which is very rare to find these days!!!!! My mum and her partner both had the roast lamb...dinner while I opted for a Ploughman's lunch. Needless to say all three of us cleared our plates!!! My mum reckons it was the best roast dinner she had ever had, and my ploughman's lunch was delicious. Staff were very friendly and we will definately be coming back again soon.More
Just on the off chance pooped into this public house for a roast with a mate! £11.95 and the portions are great! The beef was plentiful and tasted wonderful, along with all the vegetables as well! Fully recommended
Wonderful service, wonderful view and wonderful food. This is truly one of the best pubs I've visited. The theme is clean but old timely, with tasteful jazzy/ragtime music playing (not too loud, just right). The food was delicious. As a vegan, I felt accommodated and...given the same amount of food as the non vegan serving. They went above and beyond for the dish. The attitude towards tourists is friendly and inviting. There is definitely a difference with how they talk to locals but in an endearing sense - everyone seemed so relaxed and laid-back. At no point did I feel isolated. Definitely add this pub to your trip!More
