I went for dinner and had a starter of five falafels on a bed of houmous. The falafels were burnt and nasty, but the hummus was nice. I told the waitress about the falafels, but she didn't seem to care nor was surprised. The main...dish was mixed chicken and lamb shish served with rice, a salad, and garlic yoghurt dressing. The chicken, rice, and salad was very nice but the lamb was too muttony in flavour. As for the restaurant itself, at least a third of the ceiling spotlights were broken or blinking weirdly. It left an impression of a restaurant that had given up and just didn't care anymore.More
As we were staying nearby we decided to book a table at the restaurant. The decor is not pretentious but the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The service was excellent and the the food was delicious.Although the Wi-Fi connection wasn’t good the waitress was brilliant and brought...us a superb dessert to make up for the delay. The price of the meal was very reasonable and I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone.More
Service was excellent. Staff for good but food was not up-to the price. We had lamb and chicken shish. Taste was bland and quantity was not enough.
My partner and I visited for dinner in later August 2021. The website and menu online looked amazing which is what made us choose here out of all the other restaurants in Bournemouth. Loads of choice and my partners favourite Turkish dish, sucuk (I think...that's how you spell it). So imagine his disappointment when we turned up and that wasn't on the menu we were given... In fact, the menu was about 1/4 of the size and only had very basic items on it. The restaurant itself is essentially a take away with a few tables stuck out the front. There was a strange atmosphere in there too with one of the chefs seeming to have an argument with a man outside and then smoking directly outside the front of the building. HOWEVER, the food we were served was tasty. Although my baclava seemed to have loads of nearly whole walnuts in which I just found very strange. And the lady serving us was polite.More
Walked in and there was one table occupied (the space is decent). No acknowledgement from any staff. Chose a table, owner ( i think) eventually came and asked us to move since the table was reserved (could have solved the issue by putting a reserved...sign on it). We moved and 3 further groups came in and sat at reserved table and each time was moved on. Random! I gave eaten in many cheap and cheerful turkish places and have never been dissapointed til now. I went for chicken and rice and literally received a few cubes of (well cooked and tasty) chicken and plain basmati rice with a very basic salad of some lettuce that looked like a bored teenager had cut it with 2 half slices of cucumber and probably an eighth of a cheap value range tomato. No form of sauce appeared or was offered. Garlic and chili sauce are standard in these places. Food arrived fairly prompt but noone cane to see if everything was ok, if we needed any extras. I just wanted to eat and get out of there so didnt bother traipsing over to ask. Redeeming point was the chef who brought the bill over (after i went to ask for it) who was friendly enough.More
Slow service, average food. Wanted a green lanes experience, got nothing like it. Would not recommend. Ruined a well organised cricket tour.
Really sorry but the food was really bland Our toddler son enjoyed it. Hummus and bread was okay. The chillies sauce tasted like tomato puree with some paprika?! I wouldn't recommend if you would like actual Turkish flavours. If you want some grilled unflavoured food...great for it. Service was great though.More
We stopped at Troy on spec no booking, it looked small and inviting. Service was fine and friendly but the restaurants only Covid action is a hand dispenser at the door as you enter which looked entirely optional as some entered and didn't use it....Tables are reasonably well spaced but potential for being closer when full. The menus and chairs are not cleaned after each guest, but tabletops are. Menus are not temporary paper menus but laminated. My wife watched the waitress helping to prepare the food and actually handling the salad onto plates rather than using tongs, the hope was she had washed her hands after handling menus and clearing tables first, I'm sure she did. All that said the food was great and you can watch it being cooked. The restaurant is not licenced and they are happy if guests bring their own as one chap nipped to the Tesco to get a beer when he discovered this. We had soft drinks. For starter I had the stuffed vine leaves, they were nice, for main I had Lamb Kebab, my wife wanted some vegetables so opted for a chicken kebab and a vegetable kebab. One last thing I ordered bread with the meal but it took an age to turn up and several nudges to the waitress before it did.. overall a nice place and if they can up their approach to Covid, the salad preparation and timing on the bread then I'd give a higher rank..More
Food was ok but not great. We ordered full platter. Price was 59 pounds but very small portion. Staff service was excellent.
