Given its location, it is a bit of a shame that dogs are not allowed. That aside, reasonable menue at reasonable prices

Nice cafe in a good location. The BLT’s were great value. Dogs are only permitted outside, which is great provided the weather is good.
Always a great place to visit, friendly staff and fabulous food, no matter what you order, it is always quick and tasty.
Thought we'd pop in for a quick bite at lunchtime. Very expensive for very average food. Two of us chose fried egg sandwiches and omg they must have cooked them for about an hour! Hardest fried eggs I've ever seen.
Used this cafe many times over the years on our last visit the standard had gone down slow service staff falling over each other and lukewarm cofee and stale scones served on saucers!
Amazing tasting salad. Grilled haloumi and roasted vegetables. Eating healthy, loved it. Definitely recommend and look forward to eating here again.
This was a lovely cafe we visited twice whilst on holiday recently. They do ice creams, cakes and food. We only had ice cream and cake so can’t comment too much on the rest of the menu. The location is great if you like going...for walks as it at HENGISTBURY HEAD so you can do lovely walks and then come here for a lovely post walk treat. The staff were great. There is mainly outside seating but some inside seating too. If you do not like birds however, this isn’t the venue for you. You can get a little train from the ferry to the cafe if you are not able to or don’t wish to walk there. The train is very bumpy but a cute little 10 min ride which was ideal for me as due to mobility issues I could walk to the cafe. There are Starlings everywhere, they come and sit on your table in the hope of catching crumbs and sometimes you get two or three around you and your food. They are very friendly and you can flick them away or let them stay but do you hate birds and couldn’t cope with this then I would not recommend you eat here. A few birds also make their way inside when the door is open and we never ate inside but am assuming there are much less birds insides. I would recommend this cafe unless you don’t like birds lol.More
Had an amazing breakfast at Hiker cafe. How lucky we are to have such an amazing place so closeby and open all day til 5! The cakes are all homemade and delicious, the coffee is so good and the breakfast is the best in the...area with a great choice. The Halloumi salad is is the best thing to have as take away to eat on the beach! Can’t fault this place. You get the added entertainment of starlings who serenade you whilst you eat your ice cream. Staff are always very efficient and friendly and willing to help. This cafe deals with a lot of people, but I never have to wait long and the cafe inside is always clean and welcoming.More
Was really disappointed today 22nd May 2023. Been coming here for about thirty years and the staff are normally quite nice, but today a girl with big round earrings was really attitudedie today, for no reason other than she couldn’t careless about her customers. I...was trying to order my food and she just kept looking into the distance as if I wasn’t there saying anything else, anything else and in the end I just said don’t worry, I’ll go in and order as I just new she wasn’t listening and couldn’t really careless and I wouldn’t get what I wanted. When I went in, she was talking about me quite loudly to the staff in the kitchen, it was really rude and totally unprofessional. The young girl I ordered from inside was really nice, no attitude, just really professional. there’s a woman that’s a bit older than the younger ones that works there, I think she might be the manager and she is Lovely but she wasn’t there today. It’s so disappointing as it is quite overly priced but the staff are nice normally and the food is quite good and I have been going for years but this has put me right off going now and I can’t find anywhere where you can lodge a complaint. The only other thing, which is not the staff’s fault is the birds are relentless and as you are not aloud dogs inside (which seems made as it’s dogs heaven there) you have to sit outside. I really feel there needs to be another cafa, between Hengisbury Head and Fishermans Walk, with similar standards that allows dogs to give some healthy competition and allows dogs inside. Terrible customer service today, a real shame really.?More
There’s a queue for ice creams! Goes to show they must be amazing! You can, if you’d rather, go inside and order your food and drinks. There were plenty of options for a small cafe! Baguettes, oven baked potatoes, panini, homemade cakes and cream teams...in addition to ice creams of course. And to drink you could treat yourself by ordering hot chocolate with cream, flake and marshmallows. Or fresh ground coffee of various descriptions, tea with various options including specialty teas and chilled soft drinks. Service cannot be faulted. They take credit cards including American Express. The tables were clean and spotless. Food was hot and tasty. Excellent. Highly recommended!More
The apple pie in the Hiker Cafe is possibly one of the best foods on earth. I have never had an apple pie so full of apple and with such delicate sweet pastry. I don’t know how a dessert can feel so nostalgic and comforting...when I don’t even know the person who makes it. Whoever you are, please never change the recipe. It is the perfect level of tartness and boy do you get a good portion! Served with clotted cream, I get this every time I am in Bournemouth and always greatly look forward to it. I am never disappointed and I couldn’t recommend anything more. The Hiker Cafe is a proper caff, the chips are piping hot, breakfast galore and the hot chocolate is also to die for! Hiker Cafe - please never change. The caffs in Bournemouth are disappearing and the classic feeling of Britishness caff good is also fleeting. Nothing beats this cafe!More
We ate lunch here today. Ordered the goats cheese and bacon salad with home made coleslaw. It sounded good on the menu but still exceeded our expectations. Large serving high quality salad with generous amounts of both bacon and goats cheese. Very friendly service with...a smileMore
We stopped at the Hiker Cafe before walking round Hengistbury Head. Staff are friendly. Paninis is were well filled with fresh ingredients and coffee was good. It helped that the sun was out and we sat outside.
Had an amazing lunch today, very generous portions, shame really as we were too full to attempt to try the lovely choice of cakes on offer! Will have to come back again just for the cakes.
Best food and service as ever. Vegetarian sausage bap here is amazing. Excellent service. Nice sitting outside. Superb choice of cakes too!
