Visited with friends after a walk and we had cream teas & cappuccinos. Good quality food was served by polite friendly staff. As one of us requires gluten free we were able to buy cream & jam to go with our own so we which they very kindly warmed up for us. There was a selection of tasty looking gf cakes available. Perfect pit stop after a windy walk! Thank you for great service.would highly recommend this cafe.

An excellent cafe and well worth a visit. This cafe has improved a lot since my last visit a year ago. It's spotless clean. The service is quick and friendly too. There are plenty of comfortable seats inside, some of which are padded and plush. Tea and other beverages are served in proper cups (not cardboard ones.) We ordered tea and it came in tea pots with separate jugs of milk - so nice. This cafe is situated adjacent to the beauty spot of Hengistbury Head. You can walk up and over Hengistbury Head to reach Mudeford Sandbank where the ultra-expensive beach huts are situated (I used to own one.) Or you can take the land-train to get there. After your walk, you really need something to eat and drink. So head for the Hiker Cafe and enjoy your snack and refreshments in comfort.

We love to go for a walk and really appreciate good facilities at the end . The cafe was spacious , clean , plenty of tables inside and outside ( yes if you’re outside the birds can be a nuisance, but on a sunny day it’s worth the bother). Friendly staff, good variety of food- we had a jacket potato with freshly prepared tuna mayonnaise, double cheeseburger and chips( the chips are to die for) vegan falafel wrap, and a tuna wrap. All freshly prepared and delicious. They happily filled my water bottle too.

The cost of the food we purchased was over priced for what we ate. A bacon sandwich, of which the bread was stale and bacon was one small slice £3.95, a very small bowl of chips £3.25 and a pot of tea for two, cups not lot bigger than expresso cups, charged £2.20 each pot but arrived in one pot. and we got just over a cup each from that one pot . Now i work in the food industry, and if i was charging this amount for what we had, id have no customers . Plus staff wandering about, and tables with empty plates etc they walking past.

We're regular customers during walks on hengistbury head. The young staff are outstanding and work really well together to keep a very busy cafe running smoothly. The homemade cakes are very special and you'll be spoilt for choice, we've also had some delicious hot paninis there. Always look forward to going back.

This has long been an excellent cafe in all categories. Now in covid restrictions the menu is rather limited. One can sit inside but most are outside as long as the weather holds. Staff are friendly and efficient. My bacon sandwich was hot ,fresh and delicious and a generous portion. The side salad was very substantial, lots of variety and again very fresh and crisp. My friends sandwich was also very delicious. Good value .

Three of us went early afternoon for a late lunch. We all chose Falafel, Lettuce and Tomato with Sweet Chilli Sauce toasted wraps - they were delicious! We also had Homemade Raisin Flapjacks for pudding. The staff were very professional and the tables were sanitised after each customer. The menu was comprehensive to satisfy anyone after a good walk on a breezy day. We will definitely return.

Was really disappointed today 22nd May 2023. Been coming here for about thirty years and the staff are normally quite nice, but today a girl with big round earrings was really attitudedie today, for no reason other than she couldn’t careless about her customers. I was trying to order my food and she just kept looking into the distance as if I wasn’t there saying anything else, anything else and in the end I just said don’t worry, I’ll go in and order as I just new she wasn’t listening and couldn’t really careless and I wouldn’t get what I wanted. When I went in, she was talking about me quite loudly to the staff in the kitchen, it was really rude and totally unprofessional. The young girl I ordered from inside was really nice, no attitude, just really professional. there’s a woman that’s a bit older than the younger ones that works there, I think she might be the manager and she is Lovely but she wasn’t there today. It’s so disappointing as it is quite overly priced but the staff are nice normally and the food is quite good and I have been going for years but this has put me right off going now and I can’t find anywhere where you can lodge a complaint. The only other thing, which is not the staff’s fault is the birds are relentless and as you are not aloud dogs inside (which seems made as it’s dogs heaven there) you have to sit outside. I really feel there needs to be another cafa, between Hengisbury Head and Fishermans Walk, with similar standards that allows dogs to give some healthy competition and allows dogs inside. Terrible customer service today, a real shame really.?

We love a walk by Hengisbury Head and along Mudeford- and this place makes it more attractive. Early lunch stop I had a delicious sausage, bacon and egg bap and portion of chips, hubby had a tuna panini. All was really good quality and well cooked/ served. Friendly service and good menu options. When we finally make a move down to this area, we will definitely be regulars here.

We regularly frequent the Hiker Cafe for breakfast or just a drink and cake. The breakfasts are great, with a good choice too. Now the, the cakes..... something to behold as they're all homemade I believe. And what a selection! But be quick, you want to get there early to make sure you get the full choice! It changes all of the time too.... a little addictive if you love a coffee and cake!

The apple pie in the Hiker Cafe is possibly one of the best foods on earth. I have never had an apple pie so full of apple and with such delicate sweet pastry. I don’t know how a dessert can feel so nostalgic and comforting when I don’t even know the person who makes it. Whoever you are, please never change the recipe. It is the perfect level of tartness and boy do you get a good portion! Served with clotted cream, I get this every time I am in Bournemouth and always greatly look forward to it. I am never disappointed and I couldn’t recommend anything more. The Hiker Cafe is a proper caff, the chips are piping hot, breakfast galore and the hot chocolate is also to die for! Hiker Cafe - please never change. The caffs in Bournemouth are disappearing and the classic feeling of Britishness caff good is also fleeting. Nothing beats this cafe!

Had an amazing breakfast at Hiker cafe. How lucky we are to have such an amazing place so closeby and open all day til 5! The cakes are all homemade and delicious, the coffee is so good and the breakfast is the best in the area with a great choice. The Halloumi salad is is the best thing to have as take away to eat on the beach! Can’t fault this place. You get the added entertainment of starlings who serenade you whilst you eat your ice cream. Staff are always very efficient and friendly and willing to help. This cafe deals with a lot of people, but I never have to wait long and the cafe inside is always clean and welcoming.

After enjoying a lovely walk with our family over the Christmas break we popped into the Hike Cafe for a spot of lunch. Whilst the queue for food was quite long, we were soon ordering our food consisting of bacon, egg & chips, ham & mozzarella panini, coronation chicken baguette, sausage & egg bap plus kids sausage & chips followed by a rocky road and flapjack cakes. All food was excellent and served within good time from ordering. One of our favourite cafe's when walking at Hengistbury Head

I had "Roasted Red Pepper, Mushroom & Onion with Fig & Plum Relish" which was only a choice of white baguette (no healthy granary or brown bread option and this was across the board for bread items) and I saw and tasted no evidence of fig and plum relish... I basically got a white baguette with oily mushroom onion and peppers... the best part about this dish was the plain side salad!! I also had a green smoothie which was lumpy unripe avocado

Dog owners allowed to sit outside only Good choice of food. Lots of homemade cakes. When sitting outside watch out for starlings, which land on tables whilst eating. Wooden train for children to play on. Land train which passengers can board.
