The Mandarin Fusion is located in Old Christchurch Road, not the most elegant street in town. However, you shouldn’t judge a restaurant by the street in which it stands. It is quite a large restaurant. The atmosphere is pleasant enough. Unlike many Chinese restaurants it is not ovely kitschig. It is clean. The service was quick and efficient even if the waitress did not have much of a sense of humour. There is an extensive menu which includes all of the usual dishes you would expect to find in a UK Chinese restaurant. We had aromatic duck - £10.50. Singapore Glass Vermicelli at £8.50 and Mandarin Fusion Crispy Noodles, £9.95. It was all very tasty. We drank a bottle of Picpoul de Pinet with our meal, £22.95. With a tip the bill was only around £58, very good value for money. We will go again.

This is the second time I have written a review for this restaurant, although I have eaten here other times, as I want to give praise where praise is due.
I came to dinner with my family and literally had the most enjoyable experience. We are quite picky about where we go for dinner as we want to feel safe at the same time as having wonderful food. Not only was the food the best Chinese we have ever eaten but we really felt the restaurant had gone over and above to make us feel safe. There are screens between the nicely spaced tables and all the staff were wearing masks and visors. On speaking to the owner about how happy we were he also advised us that they have the restaurant sprayed monthly with a virus shield.
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough for the beautiful and safe environment, the pleasant helpful staff and the exceptional quality of food at very reasonable prices especially when compared to competitors who are extremely overpriced for food of far less quality.
We will be returning, well done The Mandarin Fusion.

Myself and a group of three friends visited here recently (3rd or 4th visit) and this restaurant offers lovely food although more mid to uppish in terms of price range. It's very popular and quite a large restaurant so service at times can be a little slow.
The food though is very well cooked and we all left very full, helped along by some nice lagers. A very nice evening overall and yes we would return as it is recommended.

We went to this nice-looking Chinese restaurant whilst on a recent weekend break to the Bournemouth area, but were extremely disappointed for several reasons. We did arrive slightly early for our booking, but waitress didn't seem to think this was a problem, as restaurant wasn't full at the time. We were shown to our table, then a short time later a waitress came to take our drinks order and brought our order a few minutes later. We then had to wait ages to order our food and I eventually managed to ask one of the young girls to come over to take our order. She did not seem to understand that much English, so I had to show her on the menu what we wanted. My husband eventually got his soup starter, but, unfortunately mine didn't arrive, so I had to ask one of the young male waiters what had happened to my starter? After another 15 minutes my soup (starter)did eventually arrive, but there was no apology and also by this time my husband had finished his! We were NOT impressed, especially as everyone around us seemed to have their food! Our main courses did not appear, so my husband went up to the main bar to speak to the staff, to find out what was happening?! (by this time we had been in the restaurant for almost an hour and a half!).
As our main courses STILL didn't arrive, we decided to leave, as we were sooo upset and still hungry! As we were leaving the Manager saw us and 'your food is just coming!' but did not offer any apology to us for the terrible service, so, by that time it was too late, as we were too upset by this whole experience so would not return to this place in a hurry, which is a shame as we were so looking forward to a nice Chinese!

Very friendly staff greeted us on an early booking that we had changed twice. A nice big round table was set and we ordered Al La Carte. My little one tried the Aromatic Duck (without hoi sin sauce) and loved it. The shredded beef was a little disappointing (but isn’t it always) but everything else was great
Expect a hefty bill and they did add a 10% service charge even though there were only 4 adults and one child (it’s usually for parties of 6 and more where I come from)

This used to be a really good restaurant for food - service has never been the best. We went Saturday night and it was busy with a good atmosphere but the food over the years has steadily been going down hill, this last time might have been a one off but I do not think so. The duck was very dry and not very crispy and all the dishes seemed to have more and more vegetables cheaper ingredients than meat, fish or substitutes. For the price it needs to be better and will think twice about going back. As mentioned above the service has never been great but that comes from the owner and she never cracks a smile

Having been going here for 20+ years, I will not be going back. The food is greasy, small portions, very over priced and you are charged a service charge of 10% with only 2 people dinning!
I address my concerns to the owner who said he was not bothered and I could leave a bad review, what excellent customer service!
So here it is. Go anywhere else but here; visit your local Chinese, cheaper, more food and less greasy.
I hope the service charge was worth it.

Visited on a Friday night whilst in Bournemouth for a couple of days.
The restaurant is clean and inviting with a nice ambience and the staff were very pleasant (not sure what was going on with the reviewer who said they are rude). I felt we received very good value, for nicely presented decent size portions, though I was a little over full after starter, duck, mains and desert - eyes were bigger than my belly .
Next time I am in Bournemouth I plan on returning.

Went for a meal last night in the mandarin, which is always fantastic as we have been going for many years.
The food is to die for, it is rich in flavour and satisfying to the eye - just arriving in the venue and seeing what other people has gets you excited for the meal to come! We had the Peking feast and for £26 a head it is well worth it! Nobody could go away hungry.
The service from staff is attentive and warm, nothing is too much for them and they were happy to supply extras if what is given isn’t enough. The drinks servers are attentive and quick to notice an empty glass which is always a win in my books!
We did come away slightly disappointed due to the fact that we were lead to believe that they were participating in the government scheme but the bill showed they clearly weren’t, we had a great time so we paid the bill, but they need to make sure there staff are clear on whether they are doing it or not as perhaps we would of made a difference choice on where we went.
Other than this it was a pleasant evening enjoyed by the three of us.

The service was efficient and quick. Portions are really small and overpriced so we were expecting a better quality than a standard Chinese restaurant but we were a bit disappointed as the food wasn't great even tasteless. The thing we more enjoyed were the crispy spring rolls. Once we ordered the bill we were surprised to see we have been charged a 10% VAT. We paid it without questioning, later at home we checked the menu online and it says included VAT so we felt ripped off. Definitely we won't be back.

I went out with a friend last Wednesday and requested meals under the government scheme. We were served by and elder Chinese lady who seemed to own the restaurant. We did ask her about it during the order and she said it’s not actually 50%. We shared the bill between me and my mate but only got around 30% discount even though our total order was below £35. Apart from this meal was good!

Disappointing meal. Thai green curry, I make it better. Five slivers of pre-cut chicken breast in a very strange grey sauce with added strips of ginger. Curry served without rice despite being ordered. By the time the rice arrived I had eaten the five strips of chicken as I was so hungry. We ordered two servings of vegetable spring rolls only on arrived, according to the waiter I ordered one veg and one pork I don't eat pork! The pork spring rolls were served on the same dish as the prawns!

Visited as family of 4 for dinner, on arrival waited to be attended to, manager literally just looked at us as a greeting, at which point i told him we had a reservation, he checked his screen and practically grunted "this way".. .. No good evening, welcome, please follow me, he pointed to our table and walked off. That set the precedence for the rest of the evening. No engagement from staff, had to wave to try and get attention for more drinks throughout the evening. Then when set menu came, could not believe the portion sizes for the price. Food itself underwhelming, and certainly not worth the cost. Bill came with 10% service charge slapped on, which was an insult considering our experience. When senior waiter came back for us to pay hubby asked about service charge, he just shrugged his shoulders, stated yes they add it, no eye contact or anything. At that point hubby asked for it to be removed. That's when he actually stopped to even look at us and was the most animated anyone had been with us all evening when he asked why we wanted it removed. Don't mind leaving a tip, always left a tip even when food itself wasn't great but staff were friendly and engaging, as i can appreciate they are working hard and trying. Not here, felt like more of a nuisance when asking for more drinks or condiments. For the price of the lacklustre food one expects a better service. No, would not return or recommend, have had better experiences at a buffet.

Visited whilst staying away had lovely meal which was from the set menu. Staff were very friendly. Dividers between tables. All I would say is watch your bill as table next to us the bill was wrong and when we had our bill it included a 10% service charge which as stated on menu is only added to parties of 8 or more we were only 2. It also conveniently had a request stamp, ironically, to leave a review on trip advisor right over the extra charge so you wouldn’t notice! Not impressed. Would have left a service charge anyway as was a lovely meal. Perhaps take care when making up bills and where you put stamp on receipts.

What a great restaurant. Not had Chinese food this good since The Treasure of China in Greenwich closed twenty years ago. Ribs were fantastic - plenty of meat and a first rate sauce. Crispy lamb was lovely and all the mains outstanding - I particularly liked the chicken in yellow bean sauce. The only criticism of the service was it was a little too attentive at times, but better that than being ignored - they were very genuine and friendly. The wine was good and not overpriced. I am baffled by the few poor reviews. I think the guy questioning 10% service charge just because there were only two of then had never been to a restaurant in his life before...
