During the lockdown we were miserable and needed a treat. We ordered a takeway and the food was delivered very quickly and tasted absolutly fantastic. It was hot and delivered very quickly. We will definitely be having a takeaway next week to cheer us up.

Had an excellent Taj Tandoori Mix Grill, the other night. Beautiful mix of Tandoori Chicken, chicken tikka, lamb tikka, sheep kebab, and a very large Tandoori King Prawn with an onion bhaji on top as well. Also comes with a side salad and Naan bread. Comes out on the sizzling skillet and what an excellent and good value meal to warm you up over the coming winter months. A must try on any visit. Of course with a Cobra and a bottle of wine an excellent few hours in The Taj Mahal.

Takeaway delivered to you door..... Restaurant quality perfection!
With so many Indian restaurants in Bournemouth you can't go wrong with the Taj.(tried most of them over 10 years)
The Taj Mahal is consistently excellent quality food. We enjoy a take out each week as our treat. When friends & family revisit us they say ...... 'can we have it from the place you last ordered it from last time'.
Garlic Chilli Chicken & Balti are the the Best ...... WOW
We have travelled India twice so we know good Indian food.

After visiting l the restaurant last night with high expectations . We were very disappointed . Our started took over a hour to arrive and was cold . we had them to ask for our mains to be bought out as staff seemed to have forgot about us . We were left with less than half a hour to eat our food before closure at 10 . Staff did try to rectify the issue by kindly offering us more refreshment !!! Not the experience we had looked forward to

The restaurant itself is lovely, I have been there once before and had a great time. So I thought it would be nice to get a takeaway since the food was so nice. However, I'm regretting my decision as I waited an hour and a half for my food because the driver was lost and did not contact me. If they did I could have helped in some way. Instead, I had to contact restaurant twice, and when my food arrived it wasn't hot anymore; it were warm and my naan was cold. So I was very disappointed and feel I wasted £18 - which is a lot of money to me. I have never ordered takeaway for just myself before, so for that price I was hoping to be happy with my food! :( I was also a bit disappointed with my interaction with the person who gave me my food as they did not really seem too bothered.
Oh well, worst things happen at sea!

Considering they promote their excellence awards o was highly disappointed. 2 main dishes which which were ordered and as a seasoned taster I would suggest to steer clear of. Paneer Shashlik was super dry large prices, flash coloured not marinated at all. Madras, the menu mentions fairly hot and sour well it was fairly mild in a garlic sauce. Basically majority of curry dishes had the same sauce then they adapted each when serving. No imagination and can't understand why it was so busy!
Will stick to the Westbourne Tandoori moving forward.

We ordered a takeaway tonight via their website, delivery turned up on time. Food was a big disappointment, didn't taste fresh, tough lamb, naan was doughy and other dishes were not great. We didn't even eat the food.
We called to complain and they offered either a full replacement within 30 mins or a complementary order in future.
We asked for a refund but they're unsure how long the refund will take due to their website orders being processed by a third party.

Visited this place without booking in advance the other Saturday and it was a good experience. We popped in on the off chance and reserved a table for 45 mins later while we enjoyed a drink at the pub over the road. Service was great and the food outstanding - the only criticism was that the starter was too large and meant I struggled to eat my delicious main meal. Just one portion of onion bargee would have been enough. Good value though and I would return.

Worst Indian food I’ve ever had. “Butter Chicken” was a Korma with a stick of butter on the top. The manager said “that’s how we make it”. Don’t put something on the menu if your chef doesn’t know how to make it. Waiter also tried to add extras to the overall bill which we had to argue to take off.
The most flavoured item we received was the tap water, which is saying something.
Tasteless, poor service and overpriced.

We had a lovely evening at the Taj Mahal. My partner and I had eaten there before but for our friends, it was their first time. We all very much enjoyed our meals which were served by friendly and welcoming waiters. The restaurant was busy and had a lovely buzzing Friday night atmosphere! The complimentary amarettos at the end of the evening was a pleasant surprise. We will all be back again. Thank you for a fantastic Friday evening!

Generally reliable if not amazing. Tired decor, but fairly well organised for covid. Let down by a poor Brinjal Bhaji. Mentioned this to the waiter who shrugged it off while looking at the barely touched dish. The vegetable was undercooked and tough. Any sort of gesture (e.g. take it off the bill) would have been appreciated. Instead, nothing. There are three other curry houses in Westbourne, so I will go elsewhere next time.

Ordered over the phone & picked up The Taj Mahal £25 midweek deal. On arrival was greeted as usual by one of the friendly owners. Everything was safe and was straight in & straight out. When I got home the meal was piping hot. The chicken tikka starter & Lamb samosa,s were excellent. The chicken madras and Lamb Bhuna were superb, along with the pilau rice & naan. All complimented by the 2x bottles of tiger beer which come with the meal. Yet again another beautiful tasty takeaway from The Taj Mahal westbourne. If you want more than just the normal takeaway then they do a selection of meal deals which are excellent value. A must try for collection or delivery.

We chose this restaurant as a place to meet with friends last night. Although the food was good, we felt a little rushed. We still had several poppadoms left, when the waiter cane and asked if we'd finished with them. As we were paying for them, we felt we should be allowed to finish them at least? The restaurant wasn't overly busy, yet they started to remove plates whilst some members of our group were still eating. But the biggest disappointment I felt, was a service charge added to our bill!! We spent approx £266 on food and drink and each of us would have happily added a tip, but when we saw the service charge of nearly £27, we immediately decided no. Sadly, for that reason alone, we won't be returning to this restaurant. Service charges like that are rude, presumptuous and a sure fire way of putting people off. Most people are happy to tip. It would be far nicer if a place waited for this, rather than automatically adding their own.

I have used this restaurant for years now always have had good food and the service has always been good .Booked a table for 8 pm for 8 friends the restaurant was not busy buy their normal standards but although they were very attentive i felt we were being rushed the food was superb as always but they kept hovering around us wanting to clear away when members of the party were still eating so this i found annoying as we were having a nice chilled time. Eating out is not cheap these days but to be hit with a 10% service charge which amounted to £27 i feel this was a bit much as we would all have left a tip as we always do so for this we were not to pleased with them. A i said food excellent service charge not happy with .

We went to this restaurant for valentines meal I had chicken tikka masala. The chicken was like eating hard rubber the food was rotten. My girlfriend had butter chicken this was just as bad. Really bad place to eat service was not great. We told them the chicken was rotten they did not care.
