Visited for lunch and although very busy the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We both selected our lunches from their Daily Specials board and were very impressed with the portion sizes which were also obviously freshly cooked and served piping hot. Definitely worth visiting and from previous experience many years ago we know their breakfasts (served all day)... More

The owner always has time for every customer - even if they have just been in for the first or fiftieth time - food is good, tea is great and alway friendly and helpful.

A traditional cafe in the centre of Dorchester. Well worth a visit for hot or cold snacks or even just a coffee. Very friendly staff & good atmosphere.

Good fast service in this interesting cafe and bakery - lots of information about its history on the wall. My husband enjoyed his cheese on toast with black pudding, I had a pleasant coronation chicken sandwich. But Franca's cakes were the star, and we had to buy some to take away. Friendly staff

This is a smallish cafe on the high street which serves everything from English beakast (all day) through to cream teas and cakes. All the hot food is freshly cooked and there are daily specials. Lots of atmosphere and the service is friendly and efficient.

We sought this place out after I started to ask around the town for Dorset apple cake and was recommended this cafe. My gran and I popped in for an afternoon break here where we got to try a nice big wedge of the apple cake and a cheeky wedge of another delicious looking cake we saw. I had a... More

This place has become synonymous with my childhood. I am 53 and I have been visiting THWTRU since I was 11! Ask any local and they will tell you the curious name derives from the name of the last play performed at the theatre that existed on the same site. Memorable cream teas where you can specify scones of both... More
