Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tucked away behind the welcoming door of the Blue Raddle is a small slice of heaven. You won't find anything else to be small though, as all aspects of the hospitality are generous, especially the wonderful, genuinely home-made food. Of all town pubs anywhere, this...is my favourite.More

The pub was recommended to us as we'd talked to someone about struggling to find somewhere that offers good vegetarian food. I'm so glad we gave them a visit. We arrived early afternoon and hadn't booked but luckily a table was available. They offer an...excellent meal choice, including a wide range of both vegan and vegetarian food. Something I rarely see. I chose the broccoli and blue cheese pasta, with garlic bread, which was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered a pork and cider casserole, which was served with a great range of veg. He says his meal was also delicious. I loved the quirky decoration, around the walls and bar, which is certainly interesting. I have no doubt we'll be back, with our vegan daughter, to try their Sunday roast.More

Superior "pub grub" doesn't do this place justice. An amazingly long & unusual list of options on the black board, including veggie/vegan, fish & meat that should satisfy anyone. All clearly home cooked too. Good choice of real ales & a friendly atmosphere, just as...a pub should be. We got lucky with the last unreserved table, so booking recommended.More

Called in for a drink on afriday night and were so intrigued we decided to eat there the following night. Fantastic varied menu that I doubt you will find anywhere else. lots of veggie options as well as Venison and Pheasant. Drink selection is also...nice and varied as is the decor. This couple work so hard to ensure everyone enjoys themselves, This is a local business and well worth supporting, visit and enjoy yourselves.More

I cannot find fault at all - abso perfect in every way! Our group had Vegan burger, Pork faggots & Cumberland sausage meals. Had to control ourselves not to lick the plates it was so tasty! All homemade and so, so tasty. We squeezed ourselves...into the last remaining non-reserved table and were served within seconds of going to order - even though busy. Once a bigger table became free the landlord cleaned it and came over to offer it to us rather than saving for a bigger party - so kind and thoughtful - not what I'm used to out my way! About 12 vegan/veg dishes and plenty of meat/fish dishes of various delicacies - about 40 meals ish. It seemed a standardised pricing - one price fits all meals which was really refreshing idea. Busy, but lovely atmosphere where everyone seemed to know each other & very welcoming - nothing seemed too much trouble to landlord/lady. Once food scoffed we had an hour to spare before we had to make a move and didn't feel at all we had to make room for someone else. This sounds silly but I really appreciate a good hand soap these days (yes I'm pushing late 40's) and I was really happy to find Molton Brown hand soap in the toilets - not a luxury I get in my local haunts (must try to upgrade my locals). Only thing I realy would recommend is to book - we were so very lucky to get a space and |I wouldn't want anyone disappointed! Anyway give it a go you won't be disappointed!More

I was looking for a traditional pub with a quiet corner and a good selection of food and cider. I got more than I expected and learnt a thing or two about raddles. There were far more vegetarian meals on offer than I have seen...anywhere and the Perry's Barn Owl cider gave me a good night's sleep later. A popular pub and full of great and amusing paintings by local artist(s).More

A brilliant little pub, I knew it as the Dolphin many, many years ago. I would describe it as a typical English pub from yesteryear but with a modern menu. Enjoy……

Enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch today, roast beef with all the trimmings. I would highly recommend but book a table as it can get busy. Friendly staff to humans and dogs. Thank you.

Great food ( I had liver) and an excellent bottle of fine wine - a lovely pub that coped with 11 of us with good humour and efficiency. If ever in Dorchester again I will definitely return.

We are visting the area and popped in here for a pre-dinner drink and were very glad we did. The landord was a professional, serving great tasting ales and a good selection on red & white wines. This is a very interesting pub with framed...copies of Private Eye front pages from the 80's and, probably other decades, on view below the bar. We were made welcome by him and the locals. We hadn't realised that they did food but, having seen what was being served up, we wished we hadn't booked elsewhere. Ironic as Basilico, the Italian we had booked, were closing as we arrived at 8pm, claiming that we had cancelled. I plain lie!More

We were delighted to find this treasure of a pub. The hosts were charming, the regulars friendly, the food delicious and the real ales well kept. There is an excellent choice of dishes on the menu and, particularly so for vegans/vegetarians, for whom there can...often be little choice. The pub was very clean and the service efficient. It is everything a town centre pub should be and I wish I lived closer.More

Just off the High Street in Dorchester, this is an old style pub. A very friendly set of locals and an attentive and chatty landlord, although visitors to the town we were made to feel welcome and joined in their banter, (England had just lost...to Ireland in the 6 Nations). A good selection of real ale as well as other beers and three draught ciders. Lots of memorabilia and 'stuff' scattered around the walls and bar to view. An interesting menu with normal pub fare and different pies and casseroles, we thought their Game Pie was excellent. A word of warning, the Blue Raddle has more restricted opening hours than the average pub and reserving a table if you wish to eat is highly recommended. One of the best pubs I have been in for a while, if you're in the area it is well worth a visit.More

We had booked lunch for 3 on a Sunday. We're from out of the area so delighted to find The Blue Raddle. We had a lovely lunch. 2 of us had a Pork roast dinner, and I had a blue cheese and broccoli pasta bake....The pasta bake came with garlic bread drenched in butter - bonus points for that. The local vibe of the pub was excellent, and I'd love to go back some time.More

Booked here at short notice for a meal tonight. We've known this pub of old and food at the pub is always good, with the pub itself being one of the best in Dorchester. We had chicken and tarragon pie and chips. Well, it was...delicious and a plum crumble and rhubarb crumble, both with custard were delicious too. Rick and Chris the owners are fab and we were chatting with a regular and having a wonderful time.More

My Father and I and my dog's had lunch here. Very friendly. Food was delicious and homemade. The dog's snoozed happily. Its not on the main street, so I'm pleased I googled before our visit to Dorchester. Highly recommend xx
