Me & my partner received a voucher for Christmas that we finally put to use, whilst on our staycation in Dorset. We visited Brewhouse & kitchen as this was one of the options for the voucher. Gin Masterclass for 2, which entailed tastings, nibbles throughout & a meal after. We arrived slightly late as the weather had been terrible & upon arrival were sat at a table to shortly be greeted by Luke. Luke, was brilliant & so knowledgeable on all the gin talk. However, the team on were awfully short staffed & Luke was covering from another site. We didn’t feel that it had been organised that we had our masterclass experience, whilst being able to run trade also. Due to this Luke understandably was called away to deal with situations in the busy pub throughout the night. With this being said & all hats off to the staff, it did mean that our “experience” was very stop & start and we ended up having to eat quite late. The nibbles we were supposed to receive weren’t offered. Luke kindly allowed us to order a starter from the menu to make up for this. Despite the staff looking after us & us being understanding of the situation. We weren’t able to walk away feeling like we had been able to thoroughly get the full value of the voucher. Thank you to all the guys & Luke for looking after us, I hope the business will take a look & give you more support

Visited as was staying at the nearby hotel in Brewery Square. Plenty of other eateries to choose from but this appeared to have the pubbiest/homely feel. Once initially seated we found the ability to order all your drinks and meal from your phone very innovative and stress-free as it freed us to concentrate on our conversation rather than having to get up and hang at the bar to catch someone's attention. We thought this would also encourage female patrons as it avoids the hustling and competitive nature of normal pub bar activity. As it was pretty empty when we visited but though the food and drink were IMO quite pricey it was a good range and fun, with the order method being a real attraction from both a COVID and non-COVID perspective. We chose to eat inside but there appears an attractive outdoor area within individual huts

Went on the brewery tour today which was hosted by Rhys (usually from the Poole brewery, definitely reccomend a trip that way!) and it was great! the tour included coffee, a bacon sandwich to start off the day, lunch halfway through (I had the BBQ Brisket burger and it was great) and a half pint of what seemed like every beer they craft at that location. You'll learn a lot about the process involved and even have a go at it yourself. all the staff were great and we were well looked after. Rhys was great, had a brilliant sense or humour and definitely showed his passion for beer making throughout the day.

Visited for lunch. Two of the items we chose were unavailable. Ordered alternatives: gammon and chips, and the three light bites option. Then waited. And waited. And waited. And then asked a waitress to chase our order. She disappeared then returned a couple of minutes later to say "it's on its way now". So we waited some more. Eventually, some 37 minutes after we'd ordered (I paid at time of ordering so know exactly when the payment was made) two waitresses brought our food. My gammon and chips were barely tepid on a cold plate, so I called a waitress who took the plate away again. Yet another 5 minutes passed. Then another waitress brought it back again saying sorry, it was her fault, she'd taken it to the wrong table and had been "wandering around with it for ages trying to find the right customer for it". By the time it finally arrived again, warmed up, my wife had almost finished her meal. In the end it proved a barely adequate meal, nowhere near value for money, in a chain pub where no one seems to care whatsoever about quality of service or delighting the customer. We will NOT be going back.

I am afraid that this is going to be a poor review of a restaurant that we attended last night to celebrate my Husbands birthday with our family. We booked in advance and the table and social distancing etc were fine but although we ordered drinks at the bar we were told they would be brought to the table but my Husband who had taken his to the table had drank half of his before we got ours so the first issue was not enough staff. We ordered 2 steaks, 3 pulled pork burgers and a steak and stout pie. The steak and stout pie was delivered and was a small mound of mash with a pie stuck on top with no vegetables that my Husband can remember. The pulled pork burgers had probably a tablespoon of pulled pork on top of a burger with a handful of chips and the steaks which again came with just a handful of chips were given to the wrong people so one ended up with medium and one rare which we couldn't swop as we didn't realise until we had cut into both. We were all really disappointed and won't be back for food again. The bill came to just under £113. I would always normally speak to a member of staff about any issues but they were so busy with people waiting to come in and waiting to be served and because there were very few staff I didnt feel it appropriate in the circumstances to speak to someone about it and especially with social distancing in place we needed to leave rather than hang about. I always try to provide a fair review on trip advisor and have been to many restaurants across the UK and beyond but this wasn't worth what we paid.

We prebooked a table to take advantage of the Eat out to help out scheme, and turned up on time, to be shown to our table in a very efficient covid protected manner. Sanitiser by the doors, screens between tables and each table with a sign to confirm it was clean and freshly sanitised. That was where the positive experience ended. We did take a while to work out our choices as we were unfamiliar with the menu as it was our first (and last) visit, so maybe 20 minutes later my husband then ordered from the bar. We were unsure of the exact amount of time we waited, but we were still waiting at at 2.30pm, so I think we were waiting between 30~40 minutes for a mix of 3 tapas style dishes (squid, chicken wings and pork burnt ends) and a gammon, egg and chips. Immediately my husband discovered that his gammon was tepid and his chips were cold so he called the waitress back and she went to change it. I was left with my dishes, which were satisfactory on the heat scale, so I really had no option but to start without him. His dish came back out with an apology, saying that his food was cold as they sent it to the wrong table. On the whole, the food was very mediocre indeed. My burnt pork ends were quite unexpectedly spicy, so my husband was unable to share them. The salt and pepper calamari lacked any defined taste of salt or pepper so was disappointing. The buttermilk chicken wings with bbq sauce were cooked but certainly not very crispy or falling off the bone at all. We were lucky that we had the Eat out to help out scheme posting 50% of this bill, as I would have been totally gutted to pay full price for it. I would much rather have picked a smaller place with the emphasis on good quality and tasty food. For this reason we will not return, and certainly would not be recommending the restaurant to anyone.

Not the first time I've been here for a meal but will definitely be the last. So I booked a table in the restaurant but on arrival was told that we would be seated in the bar area. OK why wasn't I told that when I booked. Anyway, ordered starters. Baked camembert and BBQ Ribs. Straight away the Camembert was send back. I think they misunderstood the word baked. Slightly warm and not melted. Ribs had no flavour to them at all, if they had been described on the menu as boring plain ribs which are tastesless then that would have been more accurate. Mains we ordered 2 x pulled pork burgers. For these I can only imagine that the kitchen staff had to travel to a local farm, slaughter the cow, bring it back to the venue and create a burger. In fact it may have been quicker. We waited. Over an hour between courses. The burger was crunchy on the outside /burnt, the pulled pork was pretty much non existent, think maybe they recycled the scraps off my rib starter to put on the burger, and the chips may as well of been crisps. When asked how my meal was when paying I gave my honest feedback and told them it was very poor. Didn't want to walk away saying OK then be that person who leaves a poor review. Looking at previous reviews it looks like it's happening a lot. Think the manager, rather than writing "sorry for your poor experience hope you will come again" on each review would be better off getting hold of his staff (who were all pleasant by the way) and telling them to sort these standard out.

Me and my girlfriend went to the Brewery yesterday in the evening, as a starter we had the chicken wings ( If you choose to order them I suggest to ask for the bbq sauce and not for the spicy buffalo sauce, that is way too strong and loaded of vinegar... ). Then we decided to order a BBq platter to share (as a main meal) but when it arrived we were negatively surprised by the little amount of food there was on it, therefore because we were still hungry we had to order a cheeseburger to share and we complained about the platter with a waitress that talked with the manager, but the manager never came to us... Overall the quality of the food is very low , the meat especially is very dry and not well cooked. A restaurant where we will certainly will not go again.

Myself and my girlfriend popped in for a meal at 8pm, no reservation however it was quiet inside and out. When we were greeted at the door the lady mentioned there was an issue with the kitchen at the moment and didn't know if we could eat. But after 2 mins of checking she came back and sat us down. The table was decent no complaints there, lovely atmosphere in the small but well spaced restaurant. After less than a minute a different waitress came to take our order, but we told her we needed at least 5 more minutes. Feeling a little rushed we decided and ordered. We chose the King prawn starter and halluomi fires followed by the fish and chips for my girlfriend and the rump steak for myself. Nothing too crazy but should be some solid food. And the starters were very nice, came out quicky, hot and went down well. Mains came out rather fast after our starters were cleared but looked like a large serving on the plate. Unfortunately my steak was so tough I struggled to cut through it and even struggled to chew it... No taste and barely edible. I was hoping a waitress would eventually bring me a steak knife so I could tell her perhaps this wasn't the best steak but nobody ever came not even for a polite check back. My girlfriends fish and chips was alright, but again a bit tasteless. After leaving nearly all my steak, we waited for the waitress to come back... We waited nearly 30 minutes before deciding to just get up and leave with no desert. We went to the bar to pay and saw 3 waitresses all chatting having a laugh with no customers around. This to me is such a shame it felt like they were winging it because it was a quiet day perhaps no manager around. Such poor customer service and food quality was lacking on the mains.

I never leave reviews but honestly people need to be warned what they are getting themselves in for going to Brewhouse and Kitchen in Dorchester! We ordered our food and drinks through the app and considering they weren't that busy, it took ages just to get our drinks, we watched the girl make them and then she put them on a tray and they just sat there for 10 minutes! My friend ordered a draft beer and it arrived in flat and with bright pink lipstick (not exactly his colour!) The waitress took it straight away and apologised and brought us a new one, well she just poured it from one glass to another! Our food arrived and it was honestly aweful! It was over cooked and dry and some of our chips were undercooked , just horrible in general! Our whole table hated the food. (2 people had steaks and the other 2 had burgers). When we complained to the manager, she was rude and argumentative! She said that she never gets complaints about the food they serve and that they had some new people in the kitchen and they were still learning! We didn't want a refund, just wanted new food and she was acting as if I had asked her for a kidney! She was so argumentative its unreal! My friends husband runs a pub in Weymouth and said that if she worked for him, he would fire her in a heartbeat! After everything, I asked a nice young girl behind the bar what the managers name was and she replied saying that's the general manager, Caroline! Can not belive a chain that has a fair amount of pubs would hire someone who speaks to her staff and customers like absolute dirt! Shall not be returning and we shall be telling all our friends to never go there aswell!

Awful experience! Ordered drinks using app whilst choosing food. Drinks took 25 minutes to come and when they did, not all came. Serving staff apologised and brought missing drinks after a further 10 minutes. Food ordered before drinks came. we thought nothing of the tables that had not been cleared as we know hospitality has been hard hit by COVID and we gave credit that this may be the case here too. Eventually, a member of serving staff came to tell us there were no ribs for starter or main and we had to reorder 45 mins after placing original order. We ordered more drinks thinking food would be along soon but when starters arrived (after an hour and ten) quality was very poor and included ribs! Apparently they'd found some however, the table next to us did not receive theirs. They were told theirs had been dropped on the floor as plates were too hot! Long story short, after another half an hour and still no mains, we went to complain. By this point it was nearly 2 hours since we'd arrived and our children were famished and over tired. We requested a refund and had to wait in a queue of people getting refunds (we were 4th in line)! Refund was freely given for food however, and this really stung, there was not even a hint of an apology or regret for the awful experience. Instead, we were given an excuse - a machine had broken - however at no point in the last two hours had anyone mentioned this to us. Had this have been communicated to us sooner we could have made a decision to enjoy our drinks cancel our food and go elsewhere. This could have reduced the pressure in the kitchen and not ruined our night. All places have bad days, we know COVID has been hard for the hospitality industry but manners and empathy cost nothing. Would recommend some customer service training for the managerial staff. This may have been a one off but we will not be going back to find out any time soon.

This just went from bad to worse. Booked for 8 people, but 2 cancelled taking our booking to 6. When we arrived and had a dog with us (we read it was dog friendly) we were told it’s no dogs in the restaurant, we said no problem do you have a table in the bar area, but unfortunately there were no tables for 8, we explained we were now 6 but still no tables, so we said no worries we’ll sit outside. We were then lead outside past an empty table for 6 in the bar area. It was chilly so we asked if the outside heaters could be switched on, which was met with a laugh and ‘no they don’t work’. Ok... We ordered and waited for our drinks, during this time we noticed the table inside was still empty. We eventually asked to move there and were allowed to - why couldn’t we have sat there to begin with? Finally got our drinks and waited for our food, 45 minutes passed with no one coming to our table to explain the delay, we finally questioned it - ‘it’s just coming it’s the next ticket’. Another 15 minutes pass and we receive our second round of drinks, we ask again where our food is and are finally told there was a problem and it will be another 10 minutes. We say we’ve been waiting an hour and the response is bizarre, barely apologetic and just seemed to want to pacify us ‘I hear what you’re saying, it is coming’. We waited to be offered a round of drinks for the wait, no offer was made. Food was fine but not worth the wait and the service was terrible, but could have been forgiven if it was rectified in some way. I’m a local but haven’t eaten here before, I wouldn’t bother returning for food.

It’s interesting to see how different pubs & restaurants are dealing with the new ways of working when reopening. The Brewhouse should be succeeding, it is perfectly set up to support safe ways of working & socialising and should be a huge success, but unfortunately failed on pretty much level. The established one way system is chaotic; we found ourselves doing numerous laps of the building to enter, order, use the bathroom, communicate with staff ... The service is surly and rude, with poor communication between staff members. We understand that it is not easy implementing these new guidelines and communicating them to customers, but the level of aggression and frustration witnessed directing an elderly gentleman to the bathrooms was completely unacceptable. It was dirty, tables not cleaned, bathrooms obviously not checked It sounds like an afterthought to say the food is lousy, utterly horrible. We haven’t been out much in 2020, but the Brewhouse certainly takes the accolade for the years worst meal thus far. It’s pretty good going to present a children’s meal that is described as HORRIBLE and everything we chose from the small plates / tapas menu was dreadful ... apart from the pretzel. We should of just ordered a big basket of pretzels! Taking part in the current Eat Out to Help Out offer the Brewhouse was overwhelmed despite being relatively quiet, as we were leaving there was an announcement that there was an hour plus delay in serving food. My advice to potential dinners, don’t bother! The only positive is that the Brewhouse (unsurprisingly) has an excellent selection of beers and an extensive bar ... and good pretzels.

We booked a table here, half an hour later than we wanted due to them being unable to accommodate us at that time, and went to celebrate our son's passing his degree. We have always had a good experience at this place but this time we were disappointed. We were warned that we were facing a 45 minute wait for food but decided to stay. To be honest, it didn't seem that busy, certainly it was quiet in the building but there a few people sitting outside. We ordered everything via the app thing. The drinks arrived in a reasonable time but I was surprised that the waitress took everything off the tray herself; it's normal for the customer to do this nowadays. The couple at a nearby table complained that their food was cold so we weren't expecting much. To be fair the food did arrive after 45 minutes and was perfectly fine. There was no music or atmosphere and we did want dessert but nobody cleared our plates after 10 minutes so we left and went to Vivo's.

All the vegan food we had was amazing! Especially the vegan burgers are honestly the best burger I've ever eaten before and after I started being a vegan. The staff are very polite and helpful and they even offered blankets and hot water bottles as its cold outside. The only problems we had was they didn't take £50 notes and the gin is very expensive. Besides that it's a amazing pub!
