Obviously benefited from a recent refurbished, nice surroundings but unfortunately the wait for food was a bit long even allowing for a busy lunchtime. There only appeared to be 2 members of staff working which was a shame. The food was well worth the 45min wait though

Dined at the Half-Moon three times over Christmas break in Sherborne. For our first pre-booked Christmas dinner the staff were pleasant and really well organised - as expected the restaurant was extremely busy but the manager and her staff did a great job. Each course was well prepared and for under £40 per head, excellent value. Second visit was more... More

I'm not certain that our recent meal at the Half Moon is even worth the 1 out of 5 to be honest! We waited 50mins for an overpriced, cremation of a meal! Six meals, each and every meal an overcooked, burnt, and pretty much inedible excuse for food! Short staffed, slow service and inedible, over priced 'food'. The first pic... More

Me and a few friends went to this establishment this evening, first of all we had to wait 50 minutes to actually get our food, then when it arrived it tasted like cardboard and it was extremely overdone. After receiving our meals we were disappointed with the sizes of the onion rings. We asked for another batch and thankfully they... More

I have loved staying here previously but this time, the breakfasts were mediocre and the guy who served on Wednesday needed deodorant. Having asked for a quiet room, I was placed next to the fire door which slammed whenever used and under the landlady's accommodation. I was treated to various noises both vocal and otherwise until 3am when I finally... More

Very friendly staff and helpful. The rooms are a bit outdated but clean. For a pub-hotel it is nice. The choice of differente items in breakfast is limited. The cooked breakfast is full English and of good quality. It can be ordered at the staff and is prepared on request. The food in the restaurant is very good. They also... More

We met my parents for a day out in Sherborne and decided to have lunch here. Service was absolutely outstanding and the staff were immensely pleasant. The pub was rammed as it was Saturday lunchtime, and were also catering for a wedding that day, so had a little wait for the food- however both the quality, quantity and value of... More

Description
23rd April 2011 As chain pubs go it was very good and not to be confused with the fantastic Half Moon Inn at Horsington a few miles away. The food was freshly cooked with a noticeable lack of frozen veg. Service was good, tables clean and prices fair. Menu although ‘corporate’ had a few interesting ideas and he specials were appealing. Parking is a little unusual; a pay and display car park then pub customers get a refund proportionate to spend, so if eating likely a full refund as we did, but you need change before going there. Dinner for 2 with drinks £27.40.
