This was our first visit to Sherborne and after checking into our hotel (the Eastbury) decided to go for a 'stroll'. I needed some encouragement and when the words 'for a pint' where added to 'shall we go for a stroll', off we went. We came upon the White Hart first and we both agreed that it was a decent... More

Sunday lunch thoroughly enjoyed by all the party with excellent choice of meats for the roast followed by a range of delicious puddings. The rest of the afternoon was six nations rugby.Excellent afternoon with very convivial atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Had a great meal here, I had creamy mushrooms with salad and garlic bread, it was delicious, as was the creme brulee. The best part about the evening was the lady who served us, she was amazing, she thought of everything that would make our experience better from moving us to a quieter table, to suggesting a great wine. Thank... More

When hungry we eat where possible. Steak and Ale pie was tasteless, served with chips and soggy veg, roasts were tasteless and smothered in gravy. I expect gravy served in a gravy boat, also tasteless. Tuna baguette was described by 15 year old as non tuna tasting. Waitress or landlady had all the charm of Lurch from The Munsters, latte... I do not usually reply to reviews however in this instance I find it necessary. After talking to the staff on duty that day, your party is well remembered, ordering two roasts, steak and ale pie and tuna baguette. All our produce is sourced locally, prepped and cooked on site. You are obviously only used to peas and carrots with... More

My wife and I called in here on our trip to Sherborne. I had the beef (very tender) & ale pie with a good choice of different veg, my wife had the lasagne with proper chips (not chunkie) & some salad, both very good.

Staying locally for a while and after enjoying a mid - week drink at the pub, decided to book Sunday lunch. Good decision and we both enjoyed our plentiful meals served by pleasant staff. Will certainly book again before we leave Sherborne. Thank you all at The George for a most enjoyable Sunday lunch.

The day roast menu was excellent. Well prepared and home cooked healthy food. Good balance of roast meat, gravy and vegetables. At first glance the portion looks small, but is well balanced in size. Overall a nice experience to be here.

This is a really good traditional pub with a friendly welcome and excellent service, good value tasty home cooked food all in a beautiful setting. The landlord and his wife go to great lengths to make this place a really cosy and welcoming place - really lovely and very pretty building as well, with real fires in the winter and... More

We went to The George on Friday night just for a drink and had such a lovely time we decided to book in for the Sunday Lunch. £9.95 for 2 courses! And it was superb! Great service and great food! The lamb was delicious and Mum couldn't believe how many different types of veg! Excellent! The puds were scrummy too!... More
