We all enjoyed the food - my brother had the pork terrine from a nearby supplier, which he enjoyed very much. I had the Dorset Crème Brûlée. It came with a crab and Parmesan twist and the whole dish was absolutely fabulous. Full of crab...flavour, and very fresh. For main, we all had stuffed guinea fowl, which was equally good. The flavours of the vegetables were well matched with the chicken. I had cheese for my dessert, a healthy portion that I couldn’t finish. My brother had the crime brûlée and my sister-in-law had the Mille Feuille. They both thought they were delicious. All in all, the food was excellent. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. If I lived in Dorset, I’d go back often.More

We visited for a special birthday lunch and the meal could not have been better. First impressions were great as the staff had our beautiful table in the window and a bottle of champagne ready for our arrival - and the restaurant walls are decorated...with interesting artwork. The six of us each had 3 courses and all the food was outstanding. Beautifully presented, interesting dishes and all delicious. The duck main and passion fruit crème brûlée were particular favourites. The service was faultless - professional and prompt, yet friendly and relaxed. After hearing lots of great things about this place, I must admit I was vastly dissatisfied. We walk in, get sat a table. Great! First thing I notice is a plug completely exposed. Then the kitchen and the waitress had no idea how to deal...with a sulphite allergy which one member has and asked her what she could eat! Then when food came out which the 'chef' said was ok for her to eat, she had a reaction to it. we witness them turn down a table of 2 at 8pm when there was plenty of tables unreserved. The tables aren't in great condition, very worn out. Even the chair I was sat in was warping, felt unsafe. Food was ok, not great. Rather go elsewhere in the future. Not visiting again. Glad I couldn't get a booking prehand.More

This is a very good restaurant, serving 3 courses for £35. The quality was high end and the wine list is good for the more discerning visitor. Staff were friendly without being overbearing. Service was uncomplicated and efficient. Starters were Crab Creme Brulee (bit different...take on crab) which was delicious and Pork cheek terrine followed by succulent chicken and a lamb dish, both very tasty. Dessert was a fab sticky toffee and ginger pudding....... Highly recommend this for a nice dinner out in the gordeous town of Sherborne. Recommend one books ahead to ensure a table is available.
