It only gets that high a rating because the service was pretty good. I'm only half Italian but still pasta should be al dente, an Italian salad should have olive oil on it and I have never been in an Italian restaurant that didn't bring you bread as soon as you sat down. The people sitting next to me had... More

At last - a really good restaurant in Brighton. We were really impressed by the excellent flavours, great authentic Italian food. Baby squid in a lovely chilli/tomato sauce and wonderful chicken livers in a very tasty rich balsamic sauce - really top quality starters. We both had seriously good pizzas for mains cooked in a proper pizza oven. Excellent friendly... More

This was the second time we have been here as it was initially recommended by our B&B. Excellent food, excellent service. We would recommend booking as it is quite a small place. We have been twice now exactly a year apart and it is just as good as the first time. We will most probably always eat here when having a... We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant while looking for something decent to eat. After reading many reviews we left our hotel with a short list and this was the first we found ,the service was first class the ambience in relation to the time of year and time of day was great. This is not a modern style restaurant and... More

Just had a truly delicious meal out at La Capannina and so looking forwards to going back and trying out all my favourite dishes! I enjoyed absolutely everything about this place, the ambience the attentive and friendly service, the decor, and especially the food. Genuine wholesome tasty Italian cooking and the desert just divine - recommend the Panna cotta with... More

This is a great restaurant barely 100m from tourist traps around the Pier. It is hidden away on one of the side streets so perhaps loses out a bit because of that, but at least has still managed to stay authentic. We went there for lunch with our baby in a buggy. The Italian staff member helped us park the... More

The taste of the food is very far from the taste you can try in a medium quality restaurant in Italy. In addition I think that both the pasta and the sauce are not made at the moment that you order (as in Italy do) but are pre - cooked long time in advance. Of course it can not have... More

The wife and I tried this little gem out on Saturday evening. We hadn't booked and we're shown downstairs to a nice little table, set amongst other couples who were also dining there. A great little place, with excellent service and food all rounded off by a couple of well made Irish coffees (trust me, many restaurants get them wrong)... More

I loved the welcome here, it was very personal and genuine seeming. Warm atmosphere, we talked the night away and time passed quickly. The food was delicious.

This is definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in Brighton. It's very atmospheric, very cosy upstairs, but there's also a much larger downstairs area for bigger groups. It's almost like two separate restaurants. Staff are polite and food is amazing! I do wish they had a website though, that would be useful.
