My wife and I have just been back for our second visit for Sunday lunch, as with the first visit the food was fabulous, cooked in natural fats the flavours are outstanding. The staff have excellent customer service skills, attentive without being all over you. Our waitress, unfortunately I don't have her name, was lovely, first calls service, friendly with... More

Quite easily the best steak I've ever had. It's a bit pricy yeah but as a great or a special occasion you won't regret it. A go-to place in Brighton for a meal.

First of all this place does steaks and it does them well. I had the 400gram Ribeye and it was excellent...but it comes at a price. If you were to add chips and say garlic mushrooms to your steak order then you are talking £40 for a main course. The service was excellent, our waiter was very good but unfortunately... More

We've all eaten at the coal shed before on numerous occasions and have always found the meal good. Slightly expensive but good all the same, however on this occasion our experiences divided the table. My friend ordered the well done ribeye ( I know, but each to their own ) we were told as it's well done they'll be an... More

We visited the Coal Shed early on a Saturday night prior to going to the theatre. The restaurant is tucked away on a quiet street. From the moment we walked in the entire experience was wonderful and the steak was cooked to absolute perfection. We will definitely be back!

This place is amazing. It's tucked away in a quiet street ( Boyce's St) just outside the hustle and bustle of the Lanes. The interior is clean and chick and the atmosphere- relaxed and cozy. The sharing steaks but I opted for the surf n turf ( Ribeye and 1/2 Lobster). The steak was cooked to perfection and my lobster... More

Lovely ambiance and great service. Food was patchy. My Jacob's Ladder starter was a minuscule piece of dry beef with the bone thrown in to make it less risible. Co-incidentally, we'd eaten at the Manoir aux Quat'Saisons the previous week and I had the same cut there - a truly unctuous dish and memorable for all the right reasons. The... More

This restaurant is always on my list to "must go restaurant" and my husband booked a table and surprised me! We welcomed warm and friendly, and start the night with a bottle of Chilean wine. I have ordered chargrilled octopus and my husband ordered pigeon for a starter. As a meatlover, I was waiting to my steak. I choose rib-eye... More

My husband and I ate lunch here and it was great. We had one starter and main off the lunch menu which was great value and a steak and a number of sides, the steak was cooked to perfection and extremely tender. The waiter was really friendly and recommended us some really nice IPA beers, as we were keen to... More
