We popped in here for a drink and decided to come back after the warm welcome we’d had. We tried a number of small plates including the goats cheese and the spicy chicken, all we delicious and beautifully presented. We’ll definitely come back for a sample of more dishes next time. Highly recommend for a quirky experience with great food and staff.

On a long weekend got chatting to a shop owner down the road from this restaraunt who recommended it highly.. fast forward a few hours and have just enjoyed one of the best meals I can remember it is based on North African cooking and they have it spot on , think Algerian tapas, each dish has its own subtle flavours and are delicious, add in a quirky interior , great music and great service what’s not to like. These small independent restaurants need people to know they are out there and this one is shining a light and long may it do so … will be back loved the whole experience . Thank you

Went in just for a drink and to read a book and ended having a few good dishes and a good laugh. The chefs looked like they where enjoying while making the food and I could notice by the presentation and the taste of it, the waitress (Maho) was very helpful and delivered the service with a smile all the time. A nice place to be by yourself and the good company of Maho, or with friends and of course the good company of Maho, and the delicious food coming out of that lovely, tiny and magical kitchen, I think the name of the chef was Peter, great hands and taste. Very good energy, very good food, very good ambient and Biutiful decoration. 101% recommended.

We found this place and thought the menu looked very authenic. We were greeted by a lovely lady who was very friendly. The restaurant was decorated in a authentic North African/Algerian style, however, the music did not match the style. We didn't expect to have to listen to American country music! As a starter we ordered the falafel which was so dry is crumbled when you tried to pick it up with your folk. I ordered a vegetarian sweet potato dish which was very tasty and my partner ordered the lamb tagine and considered the lamb pieces very overdone . The tagine portion size as with other reviewers was consided quite small. Although we were very English and didnt complain at the time, we decided not to tip and will vote with our feet and not return.

This place used to be great but the entire staff changed a couple of months ago. The team was replaced by a bunch of people who apparently have never worked in a restaurant before. The kitchen was absolute chaos and the service was even worse. Our starter took over 40 minutes to arrive and the wrong dish was brought so had to send it back, although we were still charged for it. Only doesn't get one star as the food is still good.

Some of the food was ok. The vegan food was terrible, so bland. The manageress was rude and has a bad attitude. But the worse thing was the fact that they added £70 of drinks to our bill that we did not have! They took it off after we pointed it out and had to prove that we did not have those drinks. Will definitely never be returning.

This visit wasn't a nice experience for us either. Your party was verbally abusive towards staff after a few drinks and we dealt with it in the best way that we could. You stayed at The Blue Man for at least 4 or 5 hours eating and drinking, which is a great compliment to us, but unfortunately we couldn't turn the music up for you to dance. We do apologise with the bill mix up, whether it was solved accurately or not is another matter.

I really don't want this review. Why? Well, I really don't won't others to know about this amazing cafe/restaurant - I want to keep this Brighton gem to myself! We went for the first time on Sunday with our three grown kids, who enjoy great cooking. They all cook to a high standard themselves and understand the process of food prep and the importance of great service (one of my sons works in hospitality). We so enjoyed our alternative Easter lunch. Dish after dish of incredible Algerian cuisine. We are already planning our next visit The Blue Man.

We had lunch here on Sunday 31 March. This was our first visit to this place tucked away on a side street in the North Laines. The inside ambience is very cosy with lovely decor. There is outside seating on a little terrace too. My wife has a gluten, dairy and egg free diet but it was not an issue and the lady was very helpful with the menu. There are various small dishes and some mains on a specials board. We chose a variety of small dishes. They were all delicious! We felt like the food was excellent! Everything was full of flavour and well presented. The chef did a wonderful job and staff were welcoming and helpful. We will definitely come back here when we next visit Brighton. Thank you.

Had the most amazing evening at the Blue Man in Brighton laines. Highly recommend choosing from the kemia selection, delicious, well presented North African flavours. After being to all the blue man’s over the years in Brighton I’m delighted that it has returned better than ever. Had a few small nibbles and four kemias from the menu to share as two people and ended with a superb espresso martini. Fantastic location, excellent service & delicious flavoursome food.

Ate here yesterday evening for the first time for a family birthday. We were really impressed with the quality and flavour of the food, we tried a variety of small plates and shared a tagine, all of which were superb. The small dining room had a lovely ambience and was busy for a rainy Monday which was great to see. The service from Em was brilliant, she also gave a nice wine recommendation that was at the lower end of the price range which is refreshing. Will definitely visit again.

We just stopped off quickly and ordered their wrap with fries and my god, it was divine. A taste sensation. Best fries and dip we have had anywhere and in a long time and the wrap ( we both had the lamb mergiuz one) was super tasty. We don’t get to eat out often but when we can next afford it we are definitely going back to taste some more of their menu. An absolute 10 out of 10.

I think you'd be hard pushed to find better value decent quality food than that served here. Small dining area with outside space too. We hadn't booked but we're offered a small window ledge or outside, chose the ledge. Just enough room but a very good seat. Tables are well spaced, and atmosphere is cosy. Very efficient service, not gushing, not unfriendly. Chose a lamb shank cooked on noodles with almonds. Absolutely superb. It's a dish I've had before but never as well cooked as here. Rosemary seasoned chips made this a meal for two. 22 quid for a decent quality lamb shank is good value and we shared it. Bill was 41 quid with beer and wine. Cheap but excellent quality.
