Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful dining experience! Daughter’s graduation celebration meal. All 4 of us loved the food and decor! So friendly and very welcoming! Planning a return trip from Oxfordshire already.

It's such an unassuming place that you could easily walk past. Behind the curtained door is a little enchanted place full of twinkling lights and witches belongings. The service from the beginning was excellent. The young lady who served us knew the menu back to...front. She was very efficient without being intrusive. Her advice came in very handy as the menu is not of your ordinary fare. The cooking here is inspired. The food was really, really good. Fresh, interesting, delicious and different. Remember to book. It's a small place. And no kids so it's quite relaxing. We booked a babysitter for the night.More

Small restaurant so recommend booking. We were welcomed really well and seated. Presented with the menu and offered explanation of the dishes. Very helpful suggestions. Food was well presented and flavours great. Good choice of wine by the glass. An eclectic room which needs to...be experienced. This is worth a visit especially as they hope to move to larger premises soon.More

My daughter booked this little gem of a restaurant as she had heard good reviews - we weren’t disappointed!! The meal was absolutely delicious - whatever you have you MUST have the mash! 😋😋 However, what made this so special was the exceptional service from...all the staff - they were all absolutely delightful, really knowledgeable about the food & happy to help. It’s only tiny, so you will need to book, but do go, it’s fabulous!More

We found this gem recommended on tripadvisor and loved the idea of the quirky small atmosphere. The meal was sensational. Guided perfectly by our lovely young lady and we literally went through the cards. Starting with a cocktail each and the herring starter came with...a vodka shot. Our main courses were the lamb steak which nearly took two people to bring over to our table and my wife had the veal schnitzel. We’ve never had better. Desert was apple crumble and sweet potato hooves. Quite unique and delicious. The owner/Chef came over to us after the meal and told us about her and the history of the restaurant and she cooks everything herself. Amazing. Can’t recommend this place enough. Spoiler secret… they are moving to larger position in the Lanes in October !!More

It’s been a while since we were last at The Witchez but the warm greeting from Madi instantly reminded us what a unique and friendly place it is. Madi’s front of house service is great and we celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary with the delicious...food we have come to expect from The Witchez. The quality of the food is always consistently high and good value for money. Highly recommended and delighted to see this great business has weathered the pandemic. All involved at The Witchez thoroughly deserve continued success.More

As usual the restaurant was amazing . From the minute you enter to the minute you leave nothing is too much trouble . Staff are very informative on all the dishes ,which I find most restaurants lacking . We had three courses and all were...star quality . The tuna main was one of the most delicious dishes I've ever tasted . We can honestly say it's hard to make a choice . Keep up the good work and thankyou for a wonderful dinner and ambience ,wish there were more restaurants out there like this .Val and KevinMore

Well what can I say. Booked by chance as didn't fancy 'the Ivy' again and oh what a fantastic decision that was. This place is an absolute unheralded oasis and is one of the top, if not the top places to eat in Brighton. The...decor is quirky and welcoming, the staff are phenomenonal, enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the food......OMG WOW!!!!! They tell you to come hungry and you better!! Portions are phenomenonal and the quality, presentation and standard are Michellin star worthy! I had the veal schnitzel for main and wide had the sea bass. I'd drive from home (Fareham) to Brighton (50m) just to come here for, the evening it's that good. Literally cannot wait to try more of there dishes. If your coming to Brighton, book this place, you won't feel dissapointment and its price point is fantastic to LukeMore

What a find, this unique little restaurant has an excellent varied menu, and and wonderfully entertaining surroundings. We were very warmly welcomed, and the staff were most helpful and attentive. They gave us great recommendations from the menu. The food was just amazing and delicious...-the best meal we’ve had anywhere in a long time. Be sure to book in advance as it’s small and very popular. Highly recommended.More
