You can tell straight away this is something different from your usual indian. The menu isn't you're usual tikka masala, jalfrezi, madras type. I had a lamb starter, 2 pieces of well seasoned lamb with a lovely flavour. For main I had a chicken curry, can't remember the name but it tasted great, not too spicy just right. The only... More

Food and cocktail tastes really good. Their isn't much room on the tables if you are a party of two. But other than that the food, drink, customer service and food presentation was exceptional. I would suggest this location should you visit Brighton.

Visited here for husbands birthday. Was looking forward to it as it had come highly recommended. We both love Indian food. We were both disappointed. We had ordered a sharing starter and two main courses all of which were labelled as being spicy. We found the food bland and lacking in depth of spices and flavour. Service was ok. Husband... More

had been recommended to go to this little place for good quality food. Went with a friend thankfully we booked as lots of people got turned away as was Good Friday and busy. Nice attentive staff, clean and a really interesting menu. Not a big menu but enough choice amongst some interesting dishes. Very happy with food, cost and service... More

If you are a curry lover but not liking the hot versions like myself , go for Mutter Paneer, cubes of paneer cheese simmered in a subtly spiced sauce flavoured with garlic, ginger, cumin& coriander, then finished with fresh green peas. If you get a kick out of the hot spices, like my partner does, then go for the three star Guntur Kodi... More

First visit and we were not disappointed. Whilst there is a limited menu the food is authentic and very tasty. Staff excellent and service was tip top. Atmosphere relaxing with a great buzz. Good selection of drinks and good value for money. Would recommend and we will return.

Having heard lots of great things about this place maybe my expectations were a little too high.... The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the service was good. They did forget about my starter though but were very apologetic and gave us popadoms for free to compensate. The food was tasty but nothing particularly special in my opinion. And for... More

I go here regularly with my parents when they come visit. Their lunch menu is great! Mix of street food and Thali platters across veg, meat and fish, good prices too for the amount you get. Definitely one of my top places to eat at in Brighton..... can be a little on the cheeky side spice wise ;-) Great staff... More

I've been wanting to eat at this restaurant for some time now and I was impressed with the overall decor inside although the lighting was a little strong. Whilst the food was tasty the portion sizes were on the small side, particularly considering the price is slightly high for a Brighton eatery. Overall really tasty food but pricey and just... More

As previous reviewers have pointed out, the menu here is limited, but all of the options are interesting, and unless you don't like Indian food (in which case why would you be here?) you are unlikely to be disappointed. The food is South Indian - but not from a single region, so there are dishes from Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra... More

Curry Leaf Cafe serves up award-winning South Indian street food, expertly spiced curries and a wide range of international craft beers from a relaxed, colourful dining space in the heart of Brighton's bustling Lanes. Its range of quick and healthy lunches include soups, warm salads, dosas and open tandoor naan wraps, as well as traditional thali platters. The dinner menu, meanwhile, focuses on crisp, fresh-tasting street food and fragrant curries, rounded off with a selection of refreshing Indian desserts and infused ice creams. The ingredients used are seasonal and locally sourced where possible, and around half the menu is vegetarian. A wide selection of vegan, gluten- and dairy-free dishes is also offered throughout the day, and a collection-only takeaway service is available Sunday (5:30pm) to Friday (3pm). On Sundays diners can experience the cafe's unique spiced Indian brunch menu, featuring the celebrated 'full Indian', masala-battered fish and chips, street food platters, dosai, thalis, uttapams and traditional slow-cooked biriyani dishes. Curry Leaf Cafe was named a 'Local Gem' in the 2016 & 2017 editions of the Waitrose Good Food Guide and won 'Best Newcomer, South Coast' at the 2015 Asian Curry Awards. It is also listed in The Telegraph Travel's 'Insider's Guide to Brighton', The Guardian's 'Top 10 Places to Drink in Brighton' and the 'UK's Top 10 Flexitarian Restaurants' (Olive Magazine). In addition to its original premises in the Lanes, Curry Leaf Cafe also serves from its new Kemptown Kitchen in the east part of Brighton and from a purpose-built Indian street food kiosk inside the main concourse of Brighton Station - the first in the UK.
