Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Brighton & The Laines have an abundance of bakeries & coffee shops. Stopped as this little one (as the mince pies in the window looked delicious) Friendly staff, cafe as you’d expect had a very rustic & cool vibe to it. Mince pies were clearly...freshly cooked. I had a traditional one, which was delicious. They do also have some unique choices such as a peanut butter mince pie 🤔. Not cheap, but good.More

I ordered a gluten free leek and mushroom pie, my partner ordered a beef pasty. My pie had floppy pastry, and very little dry flavourless filling. The manager was extremely rude to me when i explained this. She told me that everyone else loves them...(my fault) and that they cost her a lot of money to buy in. It had cost me £7.90 which was ridiculous anyway. She also told me that is very difficult to make a pie taste nice if it is gluten free and vegan, which make me question why she sells them. I asked for the GF traditional pasty as a replacement- she looked astounded and demanded why I had bought a vegan pie when I'm not a vegan (not her business actually but for the record I liked the sound of mushroom and leek pie!). After arguing with me for about 5 minutes she gave me the gluten free traditional pasty. The pastry was still very poor and floppy, plenty of meat but again very dry inside. My partners gluten rich pasty was very ordinary. We used to love this place and I've eaten many a pasty there before. Never again. We paid a total of £17.50 for a coffee, a tea, two dry pasties and an unpleasant experience from the manager.More

Recently been introduced to this place by a friend and I’ve found myself to have kept coming back at least once a week. The pasties are fantastic and the selection of vegan options is great and very tasty. A very good selection of cakes too,...also vegan. Today tried one of their winter drink specials of a chocolate orange latté and it was lovely. They also have some other hot drink specials too, I’m quite fond of their biscoff latté. Generally a lovely little placeMore

Have been coming here for years, and always enjoy coming here for vegan sausage rolls and vegan cakes. Nice to see recently they have expanded the space inside. I have always found the prices to be fair and the food is good value.

£7.90 for a large traditional pasty. It’s a ridiculous price for a bit of pastry with a meat and veg filling. After disagreeing with the man behind the counter I left without a pasty since the price is a rip off. I ended up going...to the new Wendy’s up at Churchill square where for the same price I got a triple burger with fries and a coke. Some shops in Brighton seem to think it’s ok to overcharge it’s customers. I have bought pasties from the shop many times in the past but myself and the freinds I told about the price will never return.More

I bought a Medium Traditional Corning Pasty for a fiver. After a quarter of the way through I finally hit some meat. However, the meat was of a very poor standard, literally all fat and gristle. I took it back and rather than being met...with empathy was told that sometimes meat is like that. When I explained that it should be when you're paying £5 for it, she interrupted me with more excused and proceeded to serve me another one. I tried to finish my sentence and explain I didn't want another meat pasty but she literally kept talking at me. Eventually I had to raise my voice and ask her to stop so I could explain my position and that I didn't want another gristle pasty. eventually she served me a cheese version....but then she told me perhaps I had the problem. I asked he to stop blaming me, which was met with silence. I took my pasty and left. This is text book bad customer service with a topping of incredulity. Such a shame as I'm a big supporter of local businesses but I won't be going there again.More

During this very difficult time for everyone, to find our favourite Cornish Pasty shop had adapted and were delivering frozen pastys around Brighton and Hove made our day. I contacted a few friends and neighbours who were happy to order too and placed a large...online order to Ian at the shop. Nothing was too much trouble and the very next day a large box of delicious pastys and vegan sausages rolls (which I personally think are the best in town) was delivered by a lovely smiley young lady, from a safe distance of course! Now my freezer is stocked up with lovely flavoured pastys from traditional to pork and apple, veggie to vegan. Ian if you could perfect a Gluten Free pasty you would make my sons year! Highly recommended.More

We called and had some lovely freshly ground coffee, some meat and vegan wares. The pasties and sausage rolls were fab and the cakes just awesome. The young girl serving was a sweetheart and it was a nice spot to eat, chat and watch the...owner mingling with her kids. Great place.More

I used to love this place. All of their pasties used to be great. Over the last 6 months I've found them increasingly full of potato. The last one i had was supposed to be lamb but there was a single piece of lamb and...an overwhelming amount of potato to bulk it out. Really disappointed the quality has declined. It was a great lunch spot.More
