Visited as a couple as fancied a coffee, and we love illy coffee, the beans they use. Spotted the carrot cake which looked divine, so had to have a piece. Hubby had the Victoria sponge. Coffee was lovely and cake was exquisite, I have never...tasted such a good carrot cake ever. Friendly staff, quick service, nothing to fault.More

We used to come here all the time when we lived in Hastings. Now we're happy to frequently drive the 20 miles or so it takes to get there from where we live. The coffee is amazing and the food is fresh and full of...flavour. The owner always makes sure she says hello no matter how busy she is and the staff are really friendly. It seems a happy place to work and the atmosphere is great. I wish all cafes were like this. Perfection!!More

Called in for coffee and a cake, and whilst there was no problem with the quality of the food or drink, I was taken aback by the bill. £19 for three drinks and three cakes. We knew the drinks totalled £7.15 as the prices were...on the menu. We had therefore been charged nearly £12 for two scones and a piece of cake!!! When I queried this I was told that the scones were £4 each! Unbelievable. To make matters worse this is hidden as there are no prices on the menu, simply a statement saying “a selection of cakes are available”. I was then informed that “the owner fixes the pricing”. Fair enough but put the price on the menu so that people can avoid being ripped off.More

A pleasant little cafe in the heart of George St, which I visited with my daughter at lunchtime. The coffee and food were excellent. I only had a slice of chocolate and almond cake, and a coffee, as I had eaten a big breakfast. My...daughter had welsh rabbit, and a piece of banana, peanut cake. All the food was delicious, and they know how to make coffee. My cappuccino was spot on and hot. So many places don't know how to make coffee, but they certainly do here. Very friendly staff. I would definitely return.More

Went there for a long awaited catch-up and bite to eat with my friend. As I’m on a dairy free diet there wasn’t a lot of option on the menu for me I saw they did scrambled eggs for breakfast and asked if it would...be possible to have an egg sandwich or scrambled egg. I was told no the kitchen is to small to do that now, I asked if they did chips no I was told, so I had to settle for just a piece of vegan carrot and orange cake and a soya coffee. My friend decided on a salmon sandwich after liking the look of the opposite tables lovely brown bread. After waiting about 10 minutes our food arrived, I had a plate plonked in front of me with a pile of broken cake on it the waitress said “ it broke when it was cut because it was fresh” why not just cut me another piece instead of serving me a plate of crumbs. My friends sandwich was put in front of her it wasn’t the nice brown bread like the opposite table it was extra thick sliced dry white bread with a bit of salad on the side doorstop was an understatement. As we are polite people we didn’t say anything a proceeded to eat our food (mine was in so many pieces I had trouble getting to stay on my fork) When I tasted it I had the most overpowering taste of either mixed spice or cinnamon I couldn’t quite make it out but I was that strong I couldn’t taste anything but this and in fact by the time I’d eaten it (which I did because I was so hungry) it was making my tongue sore. My friend didn’t have much luck with her sandwich either the bread was so thick and dry she ended up just eating the salmon and salad. So our lunch was very disappointing and the final shock was the bill £7.10 for a plate of crumbs and iced coffee and over £9 for a dry salmon sandwich and small bottle off coke. As you can expect we won’t be going there againMore

Daughter was seeking out a tuna melt and I’d spotted a Welsh rarebit on the menu. Dropped in on a busy Saturday morning. Charming place with staff who clearly enjoy what they do. Food and drinks arrived swiftly and were just as we’d hoped. Thoroughly...enjoyed. Possibly rather pricey for what each dish actually was, hence only 4*.More
