If you fancy a lovely afternoon out in a lovely old pub then there aren't many places better. The food was all excellent, the beer and wine selection great and the service first class. In fact the young guy behind the bar, Louis, couldn't do...enough to make sure we had everything we needed and we were well satisfied. The only reason for 4 stars was that the wait was longer than expected, but that was due to staff illness which, in the current covid climate, is clearly not the pub's fault. All in all a first-class afternoon enjoyed by all. And dog friendly too!More

We had a lovely Christmas dinner at this venue. The staff were excellent. Nothing was too much for these guys. I had a salmon starter as pictured. And I added a few pictures of the roast. This doesn’t show it justice in the photo as...they brought out vegetables just after. We also asked the guys if we were able to have extra gravy, Yorkshire’s & pigs in blankets which was again was no problem. We had all extras within 5 minutes of waiting. In all the whole meal was reasonably priced considering it was a Christmas Day meal. 5 stars to the staff. And great good. Highly recommended and we will definitely be coming back.More

I ordered the seafood spaghetti which was very disappointing. It was described on the menu as having clams and mussels. There were none that I could see or taste. It was spaghetti with what tasted and looked like a Ragu tomato sauce and 2 large...prawns on top. The menu mentioned a white wine sauce. I wouldn’t have ordered it if I had known what it was going to be like. Basically tomato spaghetti. My other half also said his main was barely warm.More

I cant help but think that this pub is taken from Tolkiens' books, it is so cute, has a nice, old vibe with its lower ceilings and cosy decor inside and outside. The food was great, the service very friendly and the walk from Lewes...to Kingston really nice and easy. Honestly, not much more one can want from a pub :)More

The service at this pub was polite, friendly attentive and in keeping with this pubs usual service delivery. However I was really disappointed with the lunch time sandwich which wasn’t fully loaded and uninspiring, it was also served on what appeared to be normal supermarket bread...instead of a bloomer or crusty bread as you would expect paying £6-7 for a sandwich. I had sausage and my friend home made fish finger The chips however were nice. I have eaten here before but today just felt a bit of a let down. Especially as our server told us that the sandwich’s have been served in that bread for a long time. You just think the smallest things would improve an easily prepared item so muchMore

Great food, great drinks but the real standout was the excellent service from Jodie. She was honestly one of the best servers I've ever had.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch - food and service were great and we were especially impressed by Jodie's amazing memory skills - she did not need a note pad to take our order of 6 people, and still remember what we had had when...we spoke to her at the end of our meal (and having taken many more orders since then - incredible!More

Arriving for a Sunday lunch at the Juggs, Lily and Jodie helped my 91 year old mother and I get to a comfortable table despite not having a booking, and from that moment on there was that level of perfect, discrete service where they are...available but not in your face, and every detail of the meal was taken care of: extras, good timing, excellent food- we had sirloins of beef- a hearty pub quantity, and a delicious black currant delice to finish. Taxis were ordered and checked up on without prompting- really above and beyond!More

I used this pub often when I worked in Lewes. Haven't really been out much over last 18 months, but as I love this old pub, we decided to take a trip out from Brighton for a meal, last Friday. The food was amazing. I...had Squid to start & my partner had chicken wings. Best starters we've had for a long time in this country. For mains, I had the pie & my partner had Swordfish. Again, both were great, although I was a bit disappointed with the veg with the pie. Red cabbage (I don't like that) and some Kale. It also came with mash, which was tasty. I assumed it would come with carrots/peas etc. My mistake for not checking. We were too full up for any sweets. We were served at our table by a lovely young lady. I got the impression she only works Fridays and she left early, so I couldn't thank her, but she really was lovely & very friendly. We were served our drinks by Jake, behind the bar, and again he was also helpful & friendly. Everyone of the staff were great. We loved it so much, I was singing their praises to my daughter, who has booked a table for her & her partner for this Saturday (16/10). Pretty sure she will have the Squid after my telling her how amazing it was! I would highly recommend this pub. Thank you, it was a great evening.More

Shocking food. Menu sounded good initially, but when the food came out it tasted bland and seemed very low quality. It wasn’t just me that thought this either... The rest of my family had the same opinion. Really disappointing for a family meal out. I...don’t have an issue with paying for good quality food but this was overpriced for what it is. The waiters and waitresses were lovely but rude management staff.More

I definitely think you should try again! New management last year and I’ve not had a bad meal since!
