Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely pub. Very warm welcome and lovely service throughout. Both fish and chips and burger were excellent. Well cooked and very generous portions. My only quibble was that I ordered a lime and soda an was bought a pint. I hadn’t asked for a pint...but that was fine. When we got the bill I’d been charged £2.30 for a lime and soda and an extra 95p for lime. When I queried this I was told that it was because they have to put extra lime in a pint. The waitress said several times that it wasn’t her fault as she didn’t set the prices. I obviously just paid it as it was such a small amount to make a fuss about but I left feeling like I’d be ripped off which is a shame when everything else had been so great.More

Worst Sunday Roast I’ve had in Lewes. Not cheap and tiny. Embarrassingly small potion of meat not even backed up with a decent veg portion. Want a roast, give this place a miss. I needed to pick up some crisps and chocolate after it.

I love this restaurant and we booked a table in the bar area. Very cosy, lots of dogs (we dont have one) and that is fine. Very tasty Sunday lunches. One vegetarian (pretty small portions), one Roast Chicken. All good except the food was barely...warm. We did tell the brilliant waiter who said he would tell the chef. They are normally so busy we didnt want to ask for a 'hot' meal (warm would have done). Next time we will.More

Cannot recommend highly enough! A lovely pub with a lovely atmosphere. Beer was excellent and clearly well kept. Staff went above and beyond and made us ( including the dog ) feel really at home . Very busy day but no delay on food or...drinks at all. Food was absolutely superb, faultless. I visited 3 times this weekend and each visit was fabulous. Thank you to all involved.More

We popped in here with our two miniature dachshunds and were delighted to find a really lovely, friendly pub. The bar stuff couldn’t have been more welcoming, the food was great and we were just made to feel at home from the start. Even the...locals were nice as they gave up their table by the fire for the dogs. Now that is going beyond the call of duty. It’s a nice quiet country pub, set just outside of Lewes town centre. We visited in winter but it looks as though there’s a really nice outside area for the summer time. My wife had a leek and ham hock pie and I had the sausage and mash, both of which were delicious. We are only visiting the area for a long weekend but we may very well head back again as we enjoyed it so much.More

What an amazing pub! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we got through the door. As it was a Sunday my wife and I chose to have their Sunday roasts. I had the beef and my wife had the chicken. Well I can honestly...say they were the best roast dinners we have had in many years, everything was so flavoursome and we got a generous portion. The staff were brilliant and the Juggs really deserve the 5 ☆ review Thank you and we will be back very soon.More

Thank you Adam, Emma and the kitchen team. A lovely lunch with my friends, pre Christmas. The steak and ale pie was delicious and very filling. Chicken pie and bangers and mash were good too. The title says it all for ‘triple chocolate brownie’ 😋....Service was spot on. Wishing you all a good Christmas and see you in the new year. xxMore

We enjoyed a super and tasty lunch with our friends today. The service from Macy & Adam was first class, they were friendly and could not do enough to make our lunch special. The home made pies were delicious, the fish and chips a very...generous portion and very tasty. The sticky toffee puddings and custard was also excellent. Lovely ambience in this beautiful country pub. Thank you, we will be back soon.More

This visit to The Juggs was very disappointing. We have been there on several occasions over the years, since the early 80’s. My wife and I were passing by and decided to pop in as It was lunchtime, 12-30. In the car park we overheard...the tail end of a conversation between two couples who were seemingly leaving to find another pub. I went into the pub to see if it was busy, or if they were not doing food. The pub was virtually empty, only three tables with people sitting at them, and two that I could see with reserved cards on them. We went to the bar and asked if we could get a table for two, but the guy at the bar said he “ Thought “ they did not have any tables available for drinkers. I said we wanted lunches, but he said he “ Thought” they were probably booked, but we could probable eat outside. The temperature was, at that point, 2.5 degrees. We did not argue, what is the point. With that type of service level, and deplorable attitude, it’s no wonder that pubs go bust.More

The Juggs is my local pub and after hearing about a change in management I was interested to visit and give it another chance to be like the good old days. I went with another local friend at midday, there was only 2 other tables...in the pub, 1 looked like they were just having drinks. My friend and I wanted to order some chips and two drinks, we were told very bluntly that because we didn't have a booking we couldn't order any food! Chips take about 5 minutes to make, you just chuck them in a fryer! Not to mention the pub was almost empty. Well, they lost out on our money and we went to the Abergavenny in Rodmell where we were warmly welcomed as walk-ins, had drinks and food. I'm glad they got our money over the Juggs, they know how to run a pub! To the Juggs: sort it out! You're shooting yourselves in the foot and bringing down what used to be a great, friendly, local pub.More
