Easter sunday . 4 roast dinners and a few beers . Lovely old English pub . Good quality fresh home made food served hot and didn't have to wait more than 10 min . Very relaxing warm friendly atmosphere. The owner came across as a nice friendly chap not a large selection of beers/ciders a nice place to spend an... More

Lovely area. Lovely scenery. Had an hours boating trip with friends on Easter Sunday and found it very pleasant and peaceful. Weather was ok, at least it stayed dry a d was nice as it was not so crowded. The food in the Anchor was of the highest quality, reasonably priced and lovely portion sizes. Only slight criticism was when... More

Having booked a table and travelled for over an hour to reach the restaurant, we were greeted with the news that there was no food left! We had phoned the restaurant several time enroute and we wanted to warn them we may be late (but we weren't) but the phone was not answered. We were told they could not possibly... More

We booked for 22 people and it was a lovely sunny Sunday. The pub was very busy but it was service with a smile and the food was great. Will be going back

Tucked away far from the madding crowds this pub surprised and delighted on Mothering Sunday. Busy but not overwhelming (ok a gorgeous spring day helped with people preferring outside to in) the roast dinner was every bit as scrumptious as it looked, crunchy vegetables in large quantities and beautifully cooked meat.. the most friendly caring staff and dogs welcome and... Fabulous Sunday roasts - friendly, efficient, energetic service - cosy rooms with open log fires - and dog friendly. All reflecting the truly wonderful location by the river Ouse.

Great little oasis at the end of a road with good parking and great beers with a host who makes you feel really welcome - we loved it - there was nothing better than to walk off our dinner and pints by the river afterwards

Visited on a Sunday. I was disappointed because we had looked online for somewhere we could take a boat out on the river for an hour where it was a nice autumn day, but after driving 40 mins to get there, they told us that they had stopped renting the boats for the year. It would have been really helpful... More

Very fortunate to be given a table by the bar staff after arriving without booking. Quiet and personal, fantastic for our young family with visiting Grandmother seated with views of the garden and lots of dogs to pat! Our waiter was friendly and very attentive without being intrusive. The food was excellent; I had the lamb shank and family the... More

Because I'd seen The Anchor advertised as a wedding venue I think I was expecting a lot more from the place. It's ok, cute from the outside with a couple of good walks close by. The river runs alongside which I bet looks lovely in the summer. The staff were all young but very helpful and attentive. There was no... More
