We always make sure we go to this pub when we are on holiday in the area. We had homemade lasagna 1 with chips and the other with garlic bread and a kids burger in a bun with chips our son. Our 4 year old...son couldn't eat all of his burger and chips, so they put it in a takeaway box for us to take home, they also gave him a free apple juice and some sweets. Staff a very friendly and pleasant. Fully recommend.More
We were extremely disappointed with our Sunday roast today. For £13 per serving, the quality and portion size was awful. I ordered a beef roast and it arrived on a desert plate about 8 inches in diameter, not even a child size portion! There were...3 tiny slices of beef, 3 tiny spuds about an inch square 3 sprouts, a few carrots and a desert spoon of peas! I requested horseradish sauce and was told they didn't have any! I rejected the meal and In fairness, when I complained and asked for a refund, they agreed with no argument.More
Great place .. made to feel so welcome by staff and locals …, had such a great experience we went back the following day for Sunday roast .,, thanks to all the staff for making our weekend great … Arthur n Dave

I was visiting Rye for the weekend with 10 of my family. We were looking for somewhere to watch the rugby, so I rang in advance. I spoke to the landlord who couldn’t have been more helpful and kind. Despite not taking bookings he promised...us he would make sure there was an area for us all to watch it. He was true to his word. He made sure we had plenty of seating, food and treats for the children. We felt very valued and spoilt. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon.More
excellent home made sunday roast ,with lovely friendly happy staff and a log fire to go with it ,breakfast from 10.00 and lovely desserts
Fantastic place to start a day off in Rye. Fantastic all day breakfasts for the 4 of us with bacon cooked my preferred “non crispy”way (not to everyone’s taste I know!!) We were accompanied by Eddie the cocker spaniel who got even more special treatment...than we did with Ooh’s and Aah’s on arrival and a doggy treat before leaving. Ed was the star of the show. If you like a “Good old English pub”, then visit here. All management & staff will make you feel very welcome. Go for it!, Thank you all.More
What beautiful 🥰 friendly welcome from all the staff and management, a typical pub full of different characters and customers, exactly what we were looking for in pub! Well done 👍 we will be back.
Popped in with family. Welcoming staff and friendly locals... and a non-Neame guest beer on the hand pump, How rare is taht?
I was here on Saturday afternoon with my family of 5 adults and our 2 year old niece and there couldn't have been a more amenable place! An area is set out more like a cafe and there was a highchair and a carrot (which...really pleased our spaniel!). Four lots of fish & hips were all excellent, as was the children's All Day Breakfast! Great beer and, for me, great coffee! The staff are very friendly, understanding, and attentive. If you prefer, there's a fabulous real fire in the bar area and the whole place is warm with character and joy!More
Popped in for a drink whilst waiting for the bus and ended up returning later in the week. Lovely bar team and great decor. Would highly recommend if you need to hang around for a train/bus.
This pub has a great garden...friendly bar staff and a decent selection of beers. We were hungry so decided to eat. We had quiche and new pots...quiche and chips of which the pub replaced on request from new pots...and a cod, chips and peas. I...wouldn't say the pub is renowned for it's cuisine as there are other establishments in the area with far better food...and just as well because the quiches were microwaved as to become rubbery...frozen oven chips and frozen...(from a cardboard box) not fresh cod. We'd come back again for the beer and garden.... but not for food.More
Called in for a drink whilst waiting for a train and sheltering with our dogs from the extreme heat of the day. The staff were very friendly and were happy for us to bring in our dogs. The kitchen is closed on Wednesdays so cant...comment on the food.More
Text: We visited one evening whilst exploring Rye and were so pleased we did. There was a warm welcome from the landlord and the customers were friendly. We visited again the next day for a home cooked Sunday lunch in front of a log fire....A good example of the great British pub and a good place for traveller's to rest.More
