Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not fore rib of beef as advertised but some other chewy poorly cooked cut of beef. Meals were tepid at best - tiny plates, horrible Yorkshire puddings which were burnt. Potatoes that weren’t in any way roasted, more like boiled new potatoes with watery gravy...- literally the worst roast dinner I have ever eaten!! Avoid avoid avoid!!More

If going by car, there is a public car park behind the pub' but it is £3.40 for 1-2 hours. We chose this because you can not normally take your dog into an Indian restaurant, but because this is a pub; serving Indian food, you...can. The food style is from Delhi. The ambiance is good.More

been visiting this pub for years. Always a good atmosphere. The beer is pricy but it's Deya local beer...don't mind paying 7.00 for a pint...but the only Sauvignon Blanc on offer was £42.00. I'm sorry and I understand businesses are under pressure, but that's just...outrageous overpricing. When i turned the bottle of wine down, the bartender said "I don't blame you". Enough said.More

Underwhelming food, not sure what we were eating was ‘Rib of beef!’ It was so tough to cut, everyone on our table struggled to eat it. Roasties weren’t crisp but the rest wasn’t bad. Great beer selection, nice wine and very friendly staff. Nice building...too although dodgy lounge music blasting out took away from the atmosphere a bit. Just let down by the food… wanted to try the Indian street food here but now not so sure. Will still be back for a drink, but wouldn’t recommend for a roast.More

Fantastic place to eat and drink. My daughter and her partner had the 'back room' for the Saturday afternoon and evening.. they were fed and apparently the food was superb, especially the goat curry. Friendly, helpful staff, and a good range of beers and lagers...etc. Nice atmosphere. If you are looking for an event for 20 to 30 people, and would like them fed and watered, in Cheltenham, then look no further. Great work and great cooking chef! Well done.More

Visited for the first time since before lockdown and was absolutely bowled over by the fantastic curry, the great beer and the really great service. I would go as far as to say it's one of the best goat curry's I've ever had anywhere. The...portion sizes were very generous and the price was very reasonable. The Swan clearly employs a really first rate chef, as well as very courteous and helpful bar/serving staff. I will definitely be returning, regularly!More

The Swan is a fantastic pub with a regularly updated range of beers and real ales. The food is always incredible too...serving delicious Indian food throughout the week and roasts on a Sunday. They've recently started doing Bloody Mary's on a Sunday too and they...are AWESOME!! Special shout out to the staff too who always go above and beyond!More

Fabulous!!! We struggled to find a dog friendly pub on our overnight stay in Cheltenham and found this gem of a place. The girl who served us was lovely and went out of her way to help us choose a curry. The goat curry was...lovely and the butter chicken. The naan bread divine 💕 better than any restaurant Ive been to. Everything reasonably priced too. I had zero change to leave a tip to the lovely waitress which I felt bad about. ☹️More

Went along for the pub quiz, which started at 7:30. Quiz was great although our quiz skills need improving. Ordered the butter chicken and Masala fries both of which were tasty. The fried especially were delicious. Will be back next Monday for the quiz again!

Just had a roast, it was awful, the vegetables were terrible, the meat was dry and the roast potatoes were not even peeled. As for the gravy it could have been from the washing up bowl. This place used to be ok for a Sunday...roast, never again!More

A traditional looking stone built pub surrounded by several other decent hostelries, this is a good size internally extending back some considerable way from the front including a conservatory at the rear. The menu consisted of Indian Street food, and my Dilli Murg Lucknowi comprising...of minced lamb curry with pieces of chicken and topped with a boiled egg was a decent and tasty dish and I had it with Basmati rice and a naan braed. The menu was a little unusual in that all the chicken options appeared to be on the bone rather than breast. The one I chose didn’t specifically mention that so I was hoping that it wasn’t on the bone, but it was. Also rather unusual was the whole Dilli Pani Puri to start which were dough balls filled with potato and chickpeas to which you poured in a mixture of tamarind sauce and aromatic water and then ate whole. We also had some Samosas to start, and these came with a very tasty curry sauce. All in all, a lovely pub and decent food.More

Yes they are allowed outside. The inside is pretty much cordoned off due to COVID but we took our pup there and sat outside and they were more than happy to have us.
