We spent two days in Cheltenham last week , staying at the Brewery Quarter Premier Inn.( Which we would thoroughly recommend.) What a wonderful discovery it was to find that The Brewhouse and Kitchen was just a very short walk away as part of the same complex!
We ate there on the first night and thought the food was excellent as too the ambience and friendly and efficient service. We would particularly recommended the very reasonably priced steak, cooked to perfection to your own requirements.In fact, we enjoyed our meal and the evening generally so much that we booked again for the following (our final) evening and enjoyed a similarly excellent meal.
This is a beer drinkers paradise with a range of ales and lagers brewed at the microbrewery on site.As a bonus they offer various beer tasting courses and we chose the Beer Master Class session in which we sampled 9 (!) different craft brews accompanied by a fascinating talk on the history of beer and technicalities of brewing by our hosts and head brewers Alex and Andre to whom many thanks for their hospitality.
If you are visiting the beautiful and historic town of Cheltenham and want something a lot better than typical pub grub but somewhere with atmosphere and a reasonably priced menu with excellent choice of beers and wines then the Brewhouse and Kitchen is for you.

As veggies who prefer non-stodgy food (we prefer fresh vegetable to having chips and fried halloumi) we have struggled with many restaurants, cafes and pubs (the Greene King chain is perhaps the worse for offering a very limited and unhealthy menu), so it was wonderful to come here and find a full and interesting menu in which we had a good selection of interesting veggie dishes to choose from.
The service was quick, friendly, and always in touch. We were always kept informed by our waitress of what she was doing, and were never left waiting for long without her giving us a word. Though friendly, she was also aware of what was happening, and wasn't shy of politely but firmly informing one table that they must follow the safest route to the toilet rather than walking past other diners.
The atmosphere in the place was upbeat, lively, but not noisy, and felt very safe and welcoming to families.
There was a good choice of beers brewed at the location. These weren't great, but they were drinkable, and it was fun to sample so many beers.
The food was very tasty.
All in all we were very impressed and enjoyed ourselves. If only other pubs and restaurants could be this imaginative and positive and well organised.
Our only shame was that we had no money on us to leave a tip (everywhere is cashless these days, and we sometimes forget to get cash for tips), and all we could scrape together was £1.50 from our daughter's purse.

We had dinner here mid-week, it was on one of the evenings where they had 25% all food which was a plus.
They have a lot of drink options, alcoholic and non-alcoholic which was good. We went for a whole chicken to share and added a few extra sides. The food was really nice, especially the fries - nice and crispy!
The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the service, it was slightly slow even though it wasn't that busy in there.

Went for Sunday Lunch on 16/02. We were only made aware that they didn’t have half the menu when it came to ordering food (after we had already ordered drinks) There was no warning of this as we walked in
We ordered, food came quickly. The roast dinner was stone cold. One of our party asked for it to be warmed up so they put it in the microwave to warm it up. I bit into a piece of the pork and it was stone cold, I sent the meal back.
One of our party had the vegetarian option (filo pastry). It was sent back as it looked incredibly unappetising.
One of the waiters came over and said that the Manager confirmed that they would take the drinks of the bill but then when the bill came they still attempted to charge me for the food that wasn’t eaten. We then had to challenge this to get it removed from the bill. We happily paid for the food that we ate!
I have been to this brewhouse on many occasions and have enjoyed it every time. We have been here for Christmas Day on one occasion, multiple years on Boxing Day, and held many large parties here. All previous visits were faultless but this one was incredibly disappointing.

On the plus side:
Our server was friendly and the place had a good atmosphere
On the downside:
Service for drinks and food were slow. We were seated for over an hour before food arrived
The soup arrived cold so was not eaten. This should have been removed from the bill.
Their signature dish - beer can chicken- was not available. We should have been told this at the time we ordered.
One of the male bar staff was overheard being quite rude to other guests. Social distancing is necessary but guests should be politely asked to comply, not ordered around. “If you’d let me finish” is a very unprofessional phrase to use when speaking to customers.
Overall, this bar felt like a bog basic chain restaurant which lacked any real passion or attention to detail from management.

May I thank you for taking the time to leave your review of your recent visit to our site here in Cheltenham; it is a delight to read that your server was friendly and that the atmosphere was suitable however it is genuinely disappointing to read that that's where the positives ended for your visit.
As we have reopened post lockdown there have been a series of new measures implemented to ensure the safety of both guests and customers however no guest nor team member should have to witness or experience any level of rudeness, in any situation. I am truly sorry that this has happened and I shall be speaking with the team to ensure that this does not happen again.
In regards to the quality of your food, I again must pass on my apologies;when a dish is not up to standard this should have been addressed at the time, as should have the speed of service and item availability. We have had a very steep learning curve with the Eat Out to Help Out scheme but this should never impact the level of service and attention to detail I expect from my team; please be assured that we have retrained team and are reassessing our systems moving forward in this post-lockdown world.

I went to eat out with my partner on Wednesday evening. We booked our table and were seated quickly. We ordered starters and mains, starters arrived super quick and were nice enough but I had to go to the bar to ask for cutlery. Our mains took well over 1 hour to arrive and only one arrived, I had to go to the bar to ask where my burger was, to be told “oh we’ll look into it” 15 minutes later, my burger arrives, my partner has almost finished his food, it was cold and soggy, so had obviously been sat under the lights (I work in a restaurant, I can see food that’s been left out). There was also no check backs on our table so was hard to complain, id already had to go to the bar twice to ask for things. I clearly had not learned my lesson because we ordered a chocolate fondue. This arrived promptly but was of very very poor quality, cheap luke warm chocolate, a couple of small strawberries, 4 small doughnuts that you get in a party multipack from Asda and 4 empty hard shell profiteroles, no cream or anything just hard crunchy pastry. It was so disappointing. We waited again for someone to talk to, but nobody came back. So we left. I’m just glad we were able to do the 50% off... but still we spent £50 on late, cold, really bad quality food.

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme has been a big learning curve for us as a venue; over the past few days we have reassessed staffing levels to ensure the level of service provided throughout the scheme is of the highest level we can.
All of your comments regarding the quality of food have been passed on to my Kitchen team for review; we take all feedback and utilise it in training and refining the services we provide.

As people say the chain restaurants are "hit and miss" and this was a huge miss. We never tried this place before and we thought "eat out to help out" might be a good opportunity to give it a go. We arrived on time and we were ushered to our table in the upper area. At the time we were the only guests there. We ordered our drinks then starters and mains. By then everything looked promising. When we finished starters waiter turned up and said he'll go to get our mains. At this point tables around started filling up with people who placed their orders, got their plates with food while we were still waiting for ours. I had to ask twice about our order before it finally appeared. And when it did, it was barely warm. We had a feeling it was sitting somewhere in the kitchen and someone forgot to bring it to the table. We could have complained but we were already so fed up with waiting that we couldn't be bothered. In general food was poor quality, chewie steak and beef burger that didn't taste like beef. And to top it off with the slow service we're glad we didn't pay the full price (and no, the restaurant wasn't extremely busy and understaffed).
As result of that we won't be going back, at least not for the food.

Well visited here whilst in Cheltenham on Saturday 7th February.looks great when you walk in but that’s where it ends poor service stood at bar five people who came to bar after myself served before me I appreciate this is not easy at a busy bar but rely on good alert staff clearly lacking. We found a seat and looked at menu looks good so made a decision to have lunch approached bar to order a little quicker second visit only to be told at 14.30 they were not taking food orders. We left in disgust at such a poorly managed bar and food outlet. Anyone thinking of a visit give it a miss please.

We had a very tasty meal at the Brewhouse and would recomend tbe fondue. However the experience was ruined by the poor service. Despite booking we had to wait for ages for our table to be free and once seated struggled to get anyones attention to order. It took us over an hour to even order food and my husband got up several times to actually find someone to ask for help as even when food arrived it was without cutlery.

Brewery Experience Day far exceeded my expectations. Quite simply this is a must for anyone who wants to understand a bit more about what goes into their beer and how it is crafted. In this case, I truly hadn’t realised that the beers here are made in the pub itself so food miles are minimal. Andre (chief brewer) and Alex (apprentice brewer) were the perfect patient hosts and got me really involved in the whole process while answering all my questions really well. It is a truly hands on experience (with super safe COVID precautions) and I was able to take part in every stage of beer making from pouring in the malts, to mixing the mash and pumping the wort to mixing the yeast and measuring the ABV before bagging up the spent malts. Really impressed with the eco credentials here. Spent malts were collected in a wheelbarrow by local small scale farmer who feeds these to his 4 pigs. Never again will I drink ale which has been driven around the country from a big brewery firm. So I’m now a convert to real ale and in this case really local real ale. The day even included breakfast, coffee, lunch, endless sampling and a 5L mini keg to take home. THANK YOU Andre and Alex, you made my day! please message me when our Bach is ready to drink in 8 days’ time! I’m looking forward to it.

We went today (9/2 - must have been the same day as the last reviewer), we’d never been before so had nothing to judge it against. One can only hope they were having an off day. Waiter was fine, not his fault they had no Children’s Menus or his iPad wasn’t working or more than half of the ‘small plates’ weren’t available I guess.
Anyway, drinks ordered and arrived, food arrived about 30 mins after we ordered.
One the three limited ‘small plates’ was so bad it was sent back, chef needs to be reminded that oil has to be hot before deep frying. The other two - burnt pork belly was cold, dry and just edible. The reimagining of a Prawn Cocktail was equally awful. Passing other uncleared tables clearly demonstrated what they thought of their food as well.
The bill, which never arrived when asked for, didn’t reflect the poor standards and I had to actually ask to see it after being asked to ‘put my card in’ when I went to the bar to pay. It was more bother than it worth to say anything.
All in all, dire would be the kindest way to describe the place today.
You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression, so we won’t be back.

We were bought a beer and food pairing experience as a gift and didn’t know what to expect. Emma was our host for our lunch, she was very friendly and professional. Once we had selected our food she spent time explaining why she had selected the particular beers to complement the dishes. Both the food and beer were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Popped in to grab a bite on our way back to London and glad we did. We was treated to a 30 minute information guide to pairing and home brewing ales from Pietro who happened to be the resident brewer. Got to taste some delicious samples along with our meals that we all thoroughly enjoyed 5* for food/booze options & service!

Went to the Brewhouse & Kitchen as a family of 4 adults & 2 teenagers for a light lunch, welcome was ok and seated without booking. . Good selection of beers & menu choices. Drinks and meal orders taken by a friendly smiley waitress all arrived in an acceptable time at a reasonable price. Would defiantly recommend & return.

Waited over an hour for prebooked food which isn’t right and then they have the cheek to add a compulsory service charge for what was very poor management of service. Very out of order.
Maybe ok for a table for two or four but useless otherwise.
