Daphni is a friendly family restaurant which welcomes its guests and makes them feel comfortable. A place to come to get good food without the pretentions. My girlfriend had the seafood risotto, which she rated a 7/10, while I have the mixed grill, which I would also rate similarly, the lower rating because the chicken was a little dry. However, the chips which come with the grill are 10/10 and the best I've had in England. We also have the mixed meze which come with a variety of dips, some extremely tasty and overall I'd rate 9/10. Where they fall down is the portions and the price. Extra bread for the meze is an extra £1.50, which isn't a lot, but seems a bit much considering its part of a large meze for two. I would rate this place 8.5/10, which unfortunately means I have to give four stars. Its close to a five star restaurant, but not quite there on the night I went. I will return.

Went here on a Friday night for dinner with my family, our first time eating out during lockdown. We were asked to preorder our food by phone call a few hours before our meal which was fine by us. We were the first people to arrive at the restaurant and we had a large mezzo with olives for starter. The mezze was very good and had a wide variety of different unique dips to have with bread. For mains I had a sea bass fillet which I thought was quite good and my finally had the mixed grill which was good but not wow. The waiter was extremely friendly and polite and he also explained what was in all of the dishes. While the food was good, it was very pricey for what it was and therefore is a 4 star rating instead of 5 star. The food was good but there was nothing special but a nice small restaurant with friendly staff. Good experience.

Visited here with my husband recently whilst staying in Cheltenham, we wanted to eat somewhere a little different and had not eaten Turkish before. My husband has allergies and is recently dairy free as well so eating out can sometimes be a bit of a minefield! I emailed the restaurant about his allergies and being dairy free and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem and it wasn't. All Covid rules are followed here felt very safe. Gentleman who met us at the door showed us to our table and explained the menu to us. The food was all very fresh and well cooked, really enjoyed our meal and it was good value too. This is a family owned and run restaurant so the last few months will have been hard, would recommend a visit if you are in Cheltenham you won't be disappointed!

My wife and a friend had a very enjoyable and relaxed dinner here this week. The waiter gave us a warm welcome and guided us to particular dishes - all delicious - including vegetarian maze, meatballs and homemade baclava. The restaurant was inviting but spacious, with attention to detail in managing the Covid19 safety measures so that we were able to concentrate on enjoying the food, wine and company.

The food is always delicious with a really good variety on the menu. I’m particularly fond of the mixed meze and the sea bass. We shared the baklava with lemon sorbet and Turkish coffee last time. I really can’t fault any of it. The front of house is always so attentive here and obviously takes real pride in what they do (rightly so). Coupled with the music and all the little touches of handmade decor, this makes for really unique and relaxing atmosphere (I don’t feel this about many places if I’m honest). I have brought my partner, friends, family and even a work Christmas party here over the years - it’s always gone down well and many have returned. The Covid measures seem really good and it felt safely distanced so I was put at ease on this front too. Thank you guys!

My husband and I visited this town as were attending a party. We found this lovely, friendly restaurant and had a superb meal. The mixed meze starter was sooo tasty . I had the seabass all cooked fresh on the premises and it was cooked to perfection. The fish was light and the herbs used were amazing on the palate. My husband had lamb and was just as impressed. Being near Valentines the wife of the chef presented me with a rose and there were chocolates on the table. The whole experience being there could not have been better. What a find!!

Awful food and slow service. Where do I start? 3 of us visited - pre ordered food due to Covid. Starters were bland. Waiter told us if we wanted more bread with starter we needed to pay £1.50. Sticky tables, plastic flowers. Slow service. Had calamari to start and they literally delivered rubber in an omelette! House special lamb was blandest thing I’ve ever eaten. Daughter had seafood salad. Boring and rubbery. Hubby had mixed grill - awful. None of us touched it. Waiter collected our full plates to take away and didn’t say a word. Still charged us £100 though. He said as we left “please leave us a good or great review on Trip Advisor”. Awful awful place - can’t understand the good reviews. Being honest when I say it’s one of the worst restaurants we’ve ever eaten at.

We arrived at the pre-booked time, have pre-ordered our meals, so we could fit into a 2 hour timeslot. the starters arrived after 40 minutes, and then the mains took another 30 minutes or more to arrive. one or two of the party wanted desserts, but were made to feel very uncomfortable , as the waiter clearly wanted us out, even though we had twenty five minutes to go of our allocated booking. I know the restaurant was busy for the eat out to help out month, but there are ways of handling these situations charmingly.

Thank you so much for preparing a 3 course meal to collect and take away for my family this evening whilst mum is shielding with us at home, it was lovely and you did it all at just over an hour's notice. The fillet steaks were a nice size and beautifully cooked medium rare just as we asked, very nice quality, the baclava dessert was off the charts good - so rich. loved the tirimasu dessert and calamar in its gorgeous batter, and mum really liked the chicken guvech casserole. It's good honest food and we're very pleased to see you open once again.

We had a lovely visit to Daphne where the two gentlemen serving us were very friendly and generously offered detailed overview of menu/recommendations. Food was decent but the mixed grill was a really small portion, about the same amount of meat as I had on the Chicken Shish when usually it would be much more. As other reviewer have mentioned, there wasn’t enough bread to go with the dips on the mezze starter (but it all tasted great!). Food was nice, service was great but it might be a good idea to explain the portion size and suggest side dishes if people are looking for a bigger meal :)

Had the pleasure eating here on the 9th of September. The staff were simply fantastic with in depth knowledge of the menu and the origins of its ingredients. The food was exceptional, I can highly recommend the mixed grill. A must if you are visiting Cheltenham, 5*’s all the way.

On arrival everything seemed in order, plenty of tables already taken. We were met and shown to our table for 2. I believe it was the owner who explained the menu to us which was fine. We arrived at 7.30pm and ordered drinks and food. Starter came (meze) at 8.20pm ! Have to say lacking in quantity (tiny pieces of cold ciabatta) I was surprised not to be getting lavash bread (it is a Turkish restaurant) Our main courses came at 9.00pm Kofte for me Guvesh for my wife. It was very tasty however the quantity was clearly lacking. My main course came with chips and salad. One cherry tomato halved and less than a small handful of green leaves ! and literally 9 of the smallest chips I've seen. I think the waiter could see my disappointment and said "I'll bring some more chips !! Think he was embarrassed. 5 small flat kofte's too. I was still hungry after my course but although offered the desert menu I refused due to what had been delivered prior. My wife just wanted a glass of soda and lime and was charged £3 for the privilege. The service was shockingly slow and felt sorry for the waiter who was trying to serve everyone. Clearly lacking in staff too. I've eat in Turkish restaurants all over the UK and purposely look for these restaurants when on business or leisure breaks and when we have holidayed on numerous occasions in Northern Cyprus (turkish controlled part of the island) but this was by far the poorest. Maybe it's an isolated situation ?? Especially looking at other reviews. I won't be revisiting it certainly wasn't good value and there's no excuse for a lack of food on the plate. Next time in Cheltenham I shall try the Istanbul Kitchen. Come on Daphne you need to up your game as you might find you will struggle to retain customers something you don't need after covid and the forthcoming cost of living crisis.

We booked a table for 4 . The restaurant was so friendly and welcoming and We felt very safe as the tables were spaced to ensure Covid compliance . The food was delicious we had been asked to pre order and we were not disappointed . If I lived near the area this would certainly be one of my regular haunts .

New to Cheltenham and stumbled across this independent Turkish restaurant in a quiet area just behind the High Street. So pleased we ended up here in this little gem with its warm, traditional feel that made for a lovely atmosphere. We were welcomed by the waiter Okan who was a master of his trade. Okan kindly explained the menu and advised on wines to accompany the food and then skilfully looked after us and the other tables for the entire evening with the utmost care and attention. The food that was created by Ilhan and Funda was so beautiful and fresh. We enjoyed the Daphne chicken rice dish followed by home made baklava and it was all absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

My family and I visited this restaurant in the centre of Cheltenham for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. There were a wide variety of options, including vegetarian, and the food we ordered was delicious. The couple who run the restaurant were extremely friendly and even gave a gift to our daughter. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere new to eat in Cheltenham.
