Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Siam Smile's restaurant has finally re-opened for sit down meals, having been operating only as a takeaway since June. It's lost none of its charm. I've tried a number of different dishes here, but my favourites remain either the mixed starter platter or tom yum soup, followed by jungle curry with prawns. You can request a small bowl of chopped chillis with fish sauce, as I always do, for that extra kick. I was very pleased to see a good turnout on the first night of the re-launch; bookings mixed with walk-ins. A booking is recommended, as they're only operating at around 50% table capacity. Staff wear masks and gloves (for those who worry about such things), there's plenty of hand sanitiser around, and the restaurant is well ventilated.

Having eaten in many Thai restaurants in the UK and in Thailand I can honestly say that the food here is the most authentic and the service is second to none. We have been using this restaurant for many years for both take away and dining in and have always had fantastic meals and service. Highly recommend.

Excellent tasting and authentic Thai / Malay food with warm service. Well recommended if you are visiting the Cotswolds and staying in or near to Cheltenham and in need of a nice yet reasonably priced dinner.
For mains, I had the beef rendang curry with coconut rice and my partner the pad Thai and we shared a side of vegetables in oyster sauce. All well cooked and great size portions (we were hungry as had been walking all day). For starters, I had the Yum Naui beef salad and my partner the Mushroom Tom Kai soup. Both were tasty. Good selection of wine but I enjoyed a Chang beer as was driving and needed something cold to wash down the heat of the salad.

Having eaten at this restaurant in the past, it was great to see that they were opening up takeaways. My husband and I ordered our meal on Saturday night and were really looking forward to it but what we received was tasteless. I had my favourite prawn Pad Thai, which is usually a delight, but this was a tasteless plate of noodles, a few bits of egg and a few prawns. There was no flavour at all, so much so I had to add a generous amount of sweet chilli sauce just to eat it. My husband had a Malaysian sweet and sour dish that was not only a very small portion but also tasteless. What a waste of money.

So after reading the reviews I thought this place would be great for a takeaway as we are staying at a hotel for the night. The meal was average at best. I was so disappointed. We ordered the mixed started for 2 which had 1 sesame toast each a Thai fish cake and a spring roll. We ordered the belly pork which was like 2 small spare ribs. I ordered the prawn pad Thai and hubby got the weeping tiger. I have had better pad Thai ready meals. It was ok I am not saying it was horrible but it was nothing special. Hubby got the weeping tiger and it was tasty just not very much of it. The most disappointing thing was the Thai fish cake. You will see from the pics what I mean. Our meal cost is £40 for both of us. That is pricey for takeaway even from a restaurant.

Food was nice. Customer service was a bit on the poor side. Took 20 minutes to get our bill - we were keen to leave as they’d seated people within a metre from us.
I was surprised to read a review below from 2 weeks ago saying they were operating at 50% table capacity so book a table - I couldn’t see how you could get more tables in there! Tables weren’t spaced out enough, just like a typical pre-covid seating arrangement. No divides up between tables to compensate for this. Some staff wore masks below their nose. Don’t plan to return unfortunately

No reviews since last August? Let's put that right.
Siam Smile is a small restaurant in the fashionable area of the "Suffolks". I have eaten there on many occasions and always enjoyed the food, which is fresh and tasty, and the attentive service. One of our party of four declared her dish (Pla Sea Bass Neung) as one of the best meals she had ever eaten. Well worth a visit if you enjoy Thai food.

Went to Siam smile for my dad’s 50th and was so impressed. Everyone was really happy with there food, having eaten at a few Thai restaurants in Cheltenham and elsewhere was the best Pad Thai I’ve ever tasted. Lots to chose from and staff are all lovely. A lot cheaper than some of the bigger chains.

Extremely looking forward to trying this place, but soon realised poor service no crackers on the table, tiniest ration portions of noodles and rice worse still over powering garlic prawn stir fry arrived warm and lifeless with no veg like it has been heated up or sat in the kitchen waiting despite the fact we were the only ones there ordering food at the time.
Prawn toast and boiled rice was the only thing we ordered that felt like it has been freshly fried cooked with some ounce of effort everything else we could of left with a heart beat.
It could be a case of Thai place doing Chinese food badly but either way they have an identity crisis and need to stick with what cuisine there USP is.

Hello Saz,
We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience, however:
1) Prawn crackers can be ordered on our menu and are not provided as standard
2) The garlic and prawn stiry fry you ordered is an authentic Thai dish and is exactly as described on the menu. Had you wanted additional vegetables or thought the dish wasn't hot enough you were welcome to ask the waiting staff to fix this.
3) We are a Thai restaurant and we don't offer Chinese food. All of our dishes are authentically Thai & Malaysian

We reccomend this restaurant to anyone who would like a quiet sit down with really enjoyable southeast asian food. I particularly enjoyed my coconut/mushroom soup and Beef Rendang Curry. My partner enjoyed her spring rolls and Pad Thai.

Had a business colleague over from the states who fancied a Thai meal out on her last night . It had been a while since I was here last , about 3 years ago but had always enjoyed the food and the service was always great .
We had one of the set menus and the food was not as good as what it used to be . Some of the dishes tasted a bit greasy (starters) and mains tasted over cooked or reheated .Service was ok , but not the same as what I remember .

We were very disappointed as to how hot the food was, which resulted in an unenjoyable evening. Because the restaurant advertises Malaysian and Thai food, we expected to be able to choose spicy Thai food which is milder.
Staff were friendly, but menu needs alteration to show both cuisines

Hi Michael,
We are very sorry to hear that you had an unenjoyable evening with us.
Our menu has a spiciness scale which ranks dishes from not spicy to very hot.
If we are made aware on the night that a meal is too spicy we would happily replace it with a milder version.
We do hope you visit us again so that you can try our milder dishes.

Had my first Siam Smile since lockdown eased and it was even better than usual.
The tastiest green thai curry and pad thai around - they are just what you would expect to get if you were in Thailand. Amazing choice and the best spring rolls I've ever had. I was also surprised by the bill. Incredible value. Thank you Siam Smile!!!!

Have eaten here a couple of times now and the food is SO GOOD! Much better than any of the chain restaurants. A vast menu gives plenty of options for those who like to try something new. Staff were really polite and helpful.

Very good service - quick and polite, despite being extremely busy. The food was excellent, well flavoured without being swamped with spice. Nice, understated surroundings. Well worth a visit.
