On holiday in Cheltenham and looked up good pub restaurants and found The Railway. What a find, really tasty Thai cuisine in a pub atmosphere - unbelievably helpful waiting staff - Friday evening, the pub was packed and very noisy, so we asked if we...could be moved to a quieter part of the pub, no problem at all, our food, and drinks were moved for us and we were shown into a quieter area and even asked if we'd like to sit near the heater - We've been to Thailand many times and this is without doubt the best Thai food we've had since we were in Chiang MaiMore

Prices are a joke, you are paying well over £5 for a pint of beer they are having a laugh. Profiteering at the expense of their customers.

Worse service we have ever had. Family occasion was spoilt. When we complained we were asked not to come back again, we weren't going to come back anyway. We got was a hundred and one excuses for the poor service. We had meals coming out...when we had not finished our starter. Had to ask for cutlery and all the meals came out at different times so we couldn't eat at the same time. Attitude of manager was poorMore

A little hard to find, but well worth the effort. They specialise in Thai food and it was really good and the beer was excellent too with local beers on draft. Huge covered outside dining area was also a big plus, both from a Covid...viewpoint and the fact it was really hot the day we visited! Friendly down to earth service and reasonable prices.More

Recommended by our AIRBNB host, we booked into the garden about 10 days in advance. Already, the tables in the garden were all booked and our table was alongside the pub itself. All very well organised, friendly and efficient staff and an eclectic choice of...drinks. I rarely drink cider but as I didn't recognise any of the ales or lagers, it made a nice change. Sadly, although we had intended to eat, our lunch at the Curious Bistro had overrun and we couldn't manage anything. Certainly visit again when we are next back in Nam (as I heard one 'dude' call it!)More

Very slow service even though the 3 people who turned up for work tried their best, asked the waiter for descriptions of the meals and he wasn't really sure. Very cold no heating, food was sent back it was stone cold it returned 10 minutes...later a little warmer, it did have a nice taste but not worth the money.More

Initially thought as being ‘just a pub’, I continue to amaze myself in how idiotic I can be. If this were a review for ‘just a pub’ – which I won’t do because I’m neither old enough nor inflated enough to make ale comments on...par with CAMRA – then this would be over in a few lines. However, just as Marie Curie discovered radioactivity I too have made an astounding finding. The Railway produces some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten. The odd mix of pub and Thai food appears to be more common throughout the country and it’s easy to see why, especially when an establishment nails it such as this. Keeping with ‘pub vibes’ The Railway hand selects the best brews from around the area (and sometimes beyond) to give you sense of choice but without the risk of selecting something you won’t like. It’s all good. The staff are knowledgeable and appear genuinely interested in the products they offer. Let’s all admit that this can be a nice distraction until the kitchen opens, then the real treat begins. Pub food or more nauseatingly called – ‘Pub Grub’ – doesn’t get any more better that what’s on offer at The Railway. Now a Freehouse, there is a specialised menu - which I’m told is forever changing - that boasts flavours typical with the cuisine but with barbequed and smoked meats. The classics remain, chicken satay, spicy duck, crispy tofu; but dare ye who venture forth to experience some perhaps unheard of Thai street food such as a Bangkok curry, Weeping Tiger Sirloin and Grapow roasted Duck Breast. I know you can read a menu, so I’ll stop there but everything I’ve mentioned is cooked to perfection so there’s none of that ‘Oh they got that dish, I wanted that dish, I don’t like my dish, I want that dish’ envy. It’s all good. If you’re looking for something different then this is the answer, if you’re not looking for something different, this is still the answer.More

Nice, fairly busy pub on the edge of the town centre. There were a good choice of ales on keg and one on cask.
