We've been eating at Teatro for a while as discovered it serves the best Sunday lunches in Cirencester re value for money as well as quality of food. The fact that the restaurant itself is so well laid out, quirky and the service fabulous just rounds off the experience. I'd urge you to visit, it won't disappoint! Thank you Teatro

My meal was delivered exceptionally quickly. The waitress was very cheerful, we had lamb shanks that were cooked to perfection, we then went to listen to the pianist which made the night. All staff had smiles on there faces and made you feel welcomed!

We had a pre-theatre supper as the restaurant is next door to the wonderful Barn Theatre. We were initially disappointed by the menu, which contained 10 main courses, but only one of them was vegetarian. Luckily we like celeriac, as it was a celeriac risotto with a duck egg on top. It was a very good risotto but it would have been nicer to have more choice. We had a Caesar salad to start, which was vegan, not a traditional Caesar, but that was absolutely delicious, with smoked tofu and nuts and a lovely creamy dressing. Service was pleasant and our waitress tried to be helpful, but there was no vegan or vegetarian menu, and so little choice. If the number of veggie options does not increase we are unlikely to return.

The restaurant was cosy and warm with a good atmosphere and friendly staff; our problem was that there was only one choice for vegan food and that came out in very modest portions. We hadn’t intended to order dessert but needed to to feel a little satiated, but even the dessert seemed shop-bought. For the high price it was desperately short of value and quality. I appreciate vegans still need to check the menu before booking but we chose to eat here because of booking theatre tickets at the same time.

Came here for my partners 6oth birthday meal. We were really impressed with the attention to detail and safety measures in place to protect both diners and staff and felt very safe to eat at this restaurant. However, this is sadly where the positive comments for the evening end. It was a wet cold evening and the temperature in the restaurant was chilly and I noted some diners had jackets and later on coats on. As the table tops appear to be made of marble and the chairs of wrought iron none of this helped add any warmth to the ambience of the dining room. My partner ordered the char-grilled squid to start. It was an appetiser but it was tiny. I had the Cornish fishcake. It was slightly bigger than my partners appetiser and cooked well but was very bland. Couldn't really taste the fishcake. We both ordered the steak medium/rare for our main course. Sadly they both were overcooked. My partners more so than mine. Trying to catch the attention of the staff to explain there was a problem with the steaks was difficult as we were not allowed to leave our seats. This meant the food was getting cold. Eventually we caught the attention of a waitress and asked her if we could have another steak for my partner that was cooked to his request and his liking. I decided that I would make do with mine. I wish however that I had asked for it to be taken away as I was left eating on my own with already by now luke warm food whilst my partner was waiting for his order. Unbelievably the waitress returned a few minutes later with my partners original steak on his plate but it was cut down the middle. She explained that the chef had cut it to look at it and said that it was medium/rare and we were told that was the way he cooks his steaks. We were horrified as it felt as if our judgment was being questioned and as if he expected my partner to eat what he had returned to him. My partner refused and explained that it was not medium/rare and was by now probably cold. He asked for the food to be taken away and another steak to be cooked for him. I was left with mine but by then had been put off my meal and the occasion and so left over half of my meal. When my partners replacement steak eventually arrived he had to sit and eat on his own with me waiting for him as I had lost my appetite. He did say that his second steak was cooked to his liking but commented that it didn't have much flavour.
Disappointed with the whole of the evening and the dining experience we asked to speak to the manager. He did in all fairness to him, deduct the wine from our bill and listen to our feedback. However, none of that took away the nasty after taste this left with us and the fact that it ruined what should have been an enjoyable celebratory birthday meal.
We felt the portions were on the meager side for what was being charged and also found the food to be bland. Sadly we wont be recommending this restaurant to our friends or dining here again.

Dear Jean C,
I am sorry we have left you with a poor impression of Téatro, I can assure you what you have described is far from the high standards we expect.
I have spoken to the staff involved, and have rectified these irregularities in the manor that your complaint was dealt with as I assured you that evening that I would do.
I confess that we were caught on the back foot with the sudden turn to cooler evenings and have since made sure that the heating is being utilised on these evenings.
I do hope that you take the time to try us again so we can assure you that what you have described is far from our normal.
Many thanks,
Ryan

I had previously booked a table here back in March but had to cancel for obvious reasons. As soon as we were able, we re-booked for my father-in-laws birthday. Clearly, unable to rely on the good old British weather, I booked our table indoors. As it happened, it was incredibly warm the day of our booking and I was really pleased to be offered a table outside on our arrival. With clear coronavirus restrictions, there are some expected changes with tables well spaced, sanitisers on the tables, staff in masks etc. We were asked to view the menus online on our phones, although were told they could bring us a disposable one if really needed. The food options are interesting and all sounded delicious. We had a selection of the appetisers/starters and main courses. The service was a little slow, 25mins for our drinks to arrive and another 10 before the starters came out. The piano player during the evening was a treat and gave for a real holiday feel. Overall we really enjoyed the atmosphere and food and will definitely be coming back.

Visited for a family birthday celebration on Saturday 17th in the evening. Very warmly welcomed and seated immediately in the outdoor space.
Lovely setting under the trees in beautiful weather. Waiter was with us quickly sorted out drinks and took our order in a timely manner. Extremely professional and helpful.
We all had starters, mains and 3 desserts between 5 of us. The food was excellent, well presented, really well cooked and in some ways innovative.
We had cocktails, beers, a jug of Pimms and an excellent bottle of Valpolicella Ripasso. Total bill £50 a head represented excellent value for money especially for this quality of food, drink and service.
Very highly recommended.

I had wanted to visit Teatro on moving to Cirencester last year but then the next lockdown put paid to that so we booked in for when they opened in April for outdoor dining. The restaurant is set up really well for eating outside, with a big terrace, atmospheric lighting and heaters and blankets. We had some amazing food including the crab tacos, steak tartare and duck salad. Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious. There were also loads of gluten free options - hooray. We also had wine and cocktails and were really impressed with the value as our bill was much less than we expected! A really different and unique place to go, especially for a treat or a romantic date. We will be back often now we live so close.

I cannot rate Teatro highly enough, given the current Covid situation and the anxiety it brings. They have taken the situation very seriously and have put a number of preventative measures in place to protect you and the staff. It's obviously been very costly for them but it's great to see. The food was delicious as always and despite having to sit outside (for obvious reasons) we were undercover and ket warm using outdoor heaters. The staff keep their distance (meaning you have to unload and unload the trays of drinks/food) but none of the experience was lost in my opinion. I can't wait to go back. Thank you Teatro for keeping us safe.

We booked a table for 4, our first night out following lockdown, and as it was such a beautiful evening as if we could sit outside. We chose to do this but be warned the menu is different! We had G&T’s to start, except for the driver and when the order came it was wrong! Next we ordered food and a bottle of wine and water. The starters came and then the cutlery arrived, but we then had to ask for a spoon for the soup. The wine and water had still not arrived. When the mains came one of the meal order was wrong, again no cutlery, and finally three of us ate. The wine and the water had still not arrived. The head waiter apologised and stated the fourth meal would not be on the bill. We reminded the waitress 4 times we still had no water and no wine and every time was assured it was on the way. A young waiter then asked if we would like to order more drinks - the water thankfully had arrived by this time, but we reminded the waiter again that we had not received the wine originally ordered. After checking the waiter told us the wine we ordered was not available!!!! A simple drink order was placed and did arrive. We were not offered the opportunity to order a desert, but by this time we were passed it anyway. The head waiter after another time lapse then stated he understood we wanted to order coffee - definitely not unless we were prepared to wait until breakfast and we requested the bill. Interestingly a couple who arrived after us but sat near us were provided with immaculate service! The only saving grace to this disastrous evening was that the food was actually very good. We will be in no rush to go back, but they really do need to get the front of house right and if they did this the place has massive potential. What a shame that this place is not being run efficiently, because the chef deserves better and so does their client base.

Good ambience in the restaurant and the table staff were polite and efficient. Unfortunately, although my meal was very good (Asparagus Risotto) the other diners with me did not enjoy their food. This was disappointing considering the menu prices. Two desserts had to be returned and quite rightly no charge was made for them. We had looked forward to our pre-show meals but left feeling let down.

Upon arrival the place was well decorated and welcoming, the staff equally were pleasant though clearly rather early in their hospitality careers (few instances where they shouted in the restaurant or perhaps said inappropriate things).
We were quickly shown to a table and happy to see that the menu had a few option that we were keen to try.
After seeking to order the Chateaubriand but being told it was out of stock, we decided on a full lamb rack to share.
Alongside the lamb the dish was served with a fondant potato, clearly bought in and microwaved - was limp and soggy, and a goats cheese bonbon, some overcooked, dried out egg and breadcrumbs with no hint of hint of cheese! Oh and a sauce that seemed to be some combination of stock cube and tar, really was terrible.
The lamb itself, wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but it was cracked in salt and overdone at one end while verging on raw at the other with the fat/skin far from crisped and rendered as it should have been.
Overall it was a disappointment, we felt it almost as though the kitchen was staffed by more junior team members (chefs night off?) who were perhaps using stock up from the previous weekend? A fondant potato should be silky in the middle and crispy on the outside, a Bon Bon should be bursting with flavour! A sauce should be pourable and should compliment the food, not detract from it. . . . and lastly, we ordered some chips with truffle and Parmesan, and seemingly these were an afterthought as almost all of the ones we tried were uncooked in the centre.
So overall we left feeling disappointed, but the team were very friendly and I am sure this was perhaps just a bad night in the kitchen. Let’s hope so anyhow!

Like many others I often look at reviews hoping it reflects the experience and far too often I have been left disappointed. The promise of good food only to be met by mediocrity. Finally we found somewhere that promised much and delivered more. We arrived at Teatro where the staff were treating the Covid virus very seriously, as many places should but seldom do. Upon entering you are asked to read the rules and asked to sanitizer and when you are shown to your table instead of a decoration there is another bottle of sanitizer. Whenever food and drinks are brought over you are asked to remove them from the tray rather than staff. Whilst some may consider this OTT I felt the staff understood the threat, better safe than sorry right? Not only were the staff incredibly vigilant and courteous but the food was incredible, with the blending of flavours. I had the chicken skewers to start followed by the lamb and it has been a long time since I have had anything so delicious in this country. My only dissapointment is I don't live closer to eat here more often. Well done the whole team behind this restaurant, I truly loved it.

We ate here having been to the adjacent outdoor theatre festival (brilliant!) and, despite having booked an outdoor table where we thought we'd feel safest from Covid, agreed to move inside because it was rainy and cold that night. We couldn't have felt safer inside the building! Precautions were all carried out to great effect. The staff were all exceptional and the menu a real treat for us four vegan customers used to often unimaginative options at other places. Gorgeous surroundings, top quality live music, excellent food and service... what more could you ask for!? Thanks Teatro.

Amazing New Year’s Eve experience. The service was good with friendly and polite staff.
The restaurant looks and feels nice and cosy, piano player and signer we’re perfect.
Food was so good. I had scallops, fillet steak and a dessert they made dairy free for me as I can’t eat cream or ice cream. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. The only thing missing for me was a green vegetable option on the menu. Green beans would have been perfect with my steak. Be prepared the steaks come alone, so for £24 you get a steak and rocket. You then have to pay extra for every side. Chips or potatoes. Red cabbage or roasted carrots and the sauce.
The after dinner cocktails were divine 😍
