We needed to give this review as we have noticed some issues. This is a pricy restaurant but the food is normally very good. Recently the portions have been reduced, with no reduction in price. Also we have been given expensive but poor quality red wine! Not as friendly as previous visits.

We have visited this Bistro a few times in the last Year and have always had great food and impeccable service. Locally sourced ingredients and the legendary quality of the Smith & Castle butchers from across The Cotswolds, guarantee a great culinary experience. Our family dinner on Xmas Eve was superb. Would strongly recommend.

We used to go regularly to Jesse's Bistro on Saturdays for a fish and chip lunch. This was the first time since it changed hands. We used to think it was the best place for fish and chips. This time it was good but not the best we've had there hence the four stars rather than five.

A warm welcome on a cold winter evening. Just had mains. A lovely piece of cod with saffron mash and a brown butter and shrimp sauce and local venison cooked nicely with beets and potatoes with a rich sauce. A great experience.

We were a party of 8 on Christmas Eve - had such a lovely night. Great food, great service and the restaurant was full so also a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend. Significantly better food here than anywhere else in Cirencester. Sometimes Jesse's isn't full so the atmosphere can be lacking.

Came here for lunch with a friend and had high expectations having heard good things about the place. The service we received was good, but the food was a disappointment. I ordered fish and chips without the mushy peas. The fish was good if a little greasy but the portion of chips was tiny and there were nasty brown chips... More

Having had lunch here twice and enjoyed the food and ambiance, it seemed like a good choice for a group of 15 for a pre-Christmas dinner. Communication prior was stilted and the restaurant was not happy for people to choose between two different menus , so we opted for the Xmas menu even though choice was limited to four per... More

A lovely menu with good quality locally sourced ingredients, not too many choices because what they do they do well however, there are dishes that suit all tastes. Service is attentive even when there were two large parties in. One minor criticism - please remove the sinuous layer from the slices of smoked pigeon breast. This would make a lovely... More

As with previous reviewer, our party was met with a similar feeling that we were more of an inconvenience to the staff, rather than paying customer. We took our selections from the vastly over priced Christmas party menu, which had limited selection considering the establishment is owned by a renowned local butcher. To offer just 2 meat dishes for main... More

We ate around 9 on a Saturday evening - booked but probably not the best time. Service was variable - not enough menus to go round, three staff who varied greatly in their warmth and willingness and a very slow process even in bringing water to the table. It seemed as if we were something of a nuisance, to be... More
