Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On a weekend away in the area we called for lunch. The restaurant was full but the landlord allocated a table to us after a small wait. The menu is extensive and there is a specials board too. Our food was excellent -so good that...we booked for the evening for 10. Everybody enjoyed their food. I had the best fish pie I think I have ever had but everyone agreed what they had was perfect. A busy evening for the staff but the service was exceptional. In summary go and eat there its fantasticMore

A beautiful, authentic Inn and restaurant. The pub/restaurant was traditionally decorated with the service levels were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The food was the best. I had their special of lamb shank with mashed potato and wine gravy. The flavouring of Rosemary to top it...off. Toffee Biscuit ice cream wax my dessert. Highly recommend.More

Stumbled on this gorgeous pub by accident. Great food, great service. Huge plates of food of quality. You won’t leave hungry. The outdoor area is lovely to sit at in good weather.

A very memorable delicious business lunch. Five of us ordered a mix from the specials & full menu; Chicken Tagliatte, Homemade Burgers, Eton Mess, Sticky Toffee Pud, & Banofee Pie. The staff were friendly & welcoming. Highly recommend.

CAMPERVAN STOP Stayed for one night, lovely small pitchup area for about a dozen vans, Check-in via the pub staff, hookup etc all available and easy to use. Pub staff were fantastic, special shoutout to the young lad whos fire maintaining skills were 2nd to...none, deserves a pay rise!. Weather was pants but that's the Great British Isles for you... Ate in the restaurant and food was delicious, staff extremely helpful and a nice atmosphere... The downside! Only really one, but a biggy hence the 3 star rating... the toilet and shower situation. There is only one... this isn't a Highlander reference (80 classic film, kids, ask your parents)... but actually only one room with sink, shower and toilet. Now, I only need one toilet to poop in, but I like to take my time, if you get my meaning. I'd previously disturbed a poor guy the night before by awkwardly trying the door and then having to make eye contact as he sheepishly exited the area knowing that I'd follow him in. Shower was actually nice and hot but the whole time I'm stressing about the queue of desperate fellow campers outside. Anyway, a lovely pub, food was great, campsite average purely down to the facilities.... Ps. I'm sure I spotted a kitchen worker using the facilities too (or maybe they were checking on the cleanliness) Such a shame really Thanks Couple, average age of 46More

I booked a double room at the last minute rather than get up at the crack of dawn to arrive in Swindon at 9.00 am. The hotel is roughly about 10 miles to Swindon. When I entered the reception I received a warm welcome and...was asked if I wanted to take dinner. Having eaten earlier in the day I declined. I was taken outside and shown to a small double room. Everything was very clean and tidy. The bathroom amenities were plentiful and the room was warm. Thank goodness the bathroom mirror lit up which made it easy for applying make up. There was a hospitality tray with plenty of tea/milk/sugar and also a couple of sachets of ground coffee and also biscuits. I didn’t partake of breakfast since I was meeting up with friends for breakfast.More

Havent been here for a few yrs and they have done the place up lovely. Better access for elderly and very pretty and nice areas outside to sit. Had coronation chicken sandwiche with side salad and chips which was well worth the money for £9.50....The coronation chicken was so nice think it was homemade not store bought as was so much nicer and didnt have sultanas in it . Will definitely be back again 😋More

Nice old fashioned country pub with an old fashioned menu including faggotts. Our pie of the day (lamb and mint) along with the burger was very tasty and at a reasonable price. Staff very helpful and couldn't do enough for us.. definitely return here again.

We stayed in their campsite with our campervan and decided to eat in the pub in the evening, even though they were fully booked as we wanted to eat early they managed to fit us in. I have the scampi and my wife had the...lasagne, we were almost speechless at the size of the portions that came out, I'm used to 4 or 5 pieces of scampi when I have it in pubs, not hear there was loads of it. The chips were amazing, cooked perfectly and lovely and crisp. We both agree that it was certainly the cheapest pub meal we have had in a long, long while and the portion size was probably the largest we've ever had so it was incredible value for money. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly, we will certainly be eating there again if we are in the area.More

Great place to eat, good pub grub at a reasonable price. Classic pub menu, lasagne, ham egg chip etc but also specials menu for something a little different. We regularly go for lunch there.
