Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Truly the best scone I’ve ever eaten! Even better than my own - which pale in comparison to the ones served here. I don’t know how people can be underwhelmed here. It’s a tiny but endearing place to come in out of the February cold and enjoy their bargain offer of Cream Tea Deal: two scones with jam and cream for just £7:50. Perhaps previous people failed to read the menu fully and didn’t spot this little bargain? If your are in MiM then come in and see and taste for yourself.

Called in for coffee after a long walk. Sign on the wall advertised 1 savoury and 1 sweet scone and 2 hot drinks for £12. Sent my husband up to order, but only realised after he left our table that the offer was for Wednesday...this was Thursday. But no problem, the owner didn't bat and eyelid!! We had a cranberry scone with brie and relish. It was delicious, as was the fruit one.

We made a coffee stop in Moreton in Marsh on our way to Batsford Arboretum. As we parked the car we asked a gentleman at a nearby cash point for a recommendation for coffee and he pointed us to Martha's. We were not disappointed. The coffee was excellent and the warm homemade pastry whirls were scrumptious.
The staff members have made a real effort to make Martha's safe in the time of Covid yet retaining the warm friendly atmosphere which one looks for in a cafe or restaurant.

The waitress was lovely and took our order cream tea and a coffee with a gluten free cake soon after we were seated. We waited for more than 40 minutes, and never received our order. Meanwhile at least 10 orders were taken (we were sitting near the counter) each time the server said " give us a couple of minutes.
Eventually we informed the waitress we had not been served and asked her to cancel our order. Not impressed.

Breakfast with friends saw us return to Martha’s where we haven’t been for some time. It is likely to be sometime again before we return. Frankly, it just wasn’t very good in any respect. The breakfast menu selection is pretty basic and doesn’t really offer anything unusual or exciting. The service was pretty poor in all - this is not a huge restaurant but 1 cook and one waitress didn’t seem to be able to cope. And a basic for breakfast is that you would expect them to be able to fry an egg properly - sadly not. And it was, relatively speaking, expensive. In all we won’t be repeating as there is better to be had elsewhere within walking distance

Hi Geoff, I'm sorry you didnt have a a great time, I do remember you coming in and we were short staffed that morning and suddenly and unexpectedly became very busy. Not the service we would normally provide but one I apologise for. We have a specials menu perhaps it would have been a little more exciting for you to pick something from there. We are popular and normally provide a great service and pride ourself on the care we give our customers, and the ratings we have consistently got from others. Please come in again when we are up and running and the disruption of coronorvirus isnt effecting the normal status Quo. Best Wishes Sue

10/10 Excellent choice for late breakfast! We ordered coffees and juices and our breakfast. We were served quickly and by the friendly team. Then out breakfast arrived while I was jealous of the big bacon roll nothing compared to the poached egg, avocado, feta on sourdough with extra bacon. Cooked perfectly! Great food and service will definitely visit again!!

We visited Martha’s on a chilly day whilst passing through on Cotswold’s holiday and we weren’t disappointed!
I wanted a cream tea with a hot chocolate (not a traditional request I know) and the staff were more than happy to accommodate for a small charge. The girl that served us was very polite and was happy to answer some of the queries we had about the area.
It’s very snug with only a handful of tables and an open kitchen so if that isn’t your style give it a miss, however it was right up our street! & whilst snug it didn’t feel at all like we were sat on-top of the other patrons. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area!!

Well. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement.
Popped in on the way to Leicester for a bacon and sausage baps.
We ordered, 2x bacon and sausage buns with two hot chocolates. The hot chocolates took longer to make than the microwaved sausage and bacon buns. We got in the car and noticed we only had half a cup of hot chocolate. £22!!!! The sausages could not have been probed about 75 as they were practically cold by the time I got into the car.
Before we left we also ordered two slices of carrot cake and a sausage roll. The sausage roll was picked up with a napkin and flung in the paper bag, followed by the carrot cake. A further £12.50.
The carrot cake was delicious despite it just being put into a large paper bag.
The kitchen was untidy and cluttered at 09:10am on a Saturday morning? Surely that should be left tidy ready for Saturday morning service?
We shall not be recommending this place.

Hi Louise - As soon as I read Your review I spoke to my staff to try and understand what went wrong with your order. I can only apologise. I only wish you had told us about our mistakes at the time, we could have rectified them. We are human and my normal staffs good standards were not good enough on this occasion. Just to let you know our bacon is cooked daily and is occasionally mirowaved for service. A normal process for catering establishments. Our prices are clearly displayed also. Our packaging is biodegradible. I'm sorry it was not to your liking but it would not have been thrown in. We really do care and from our normal reviews you an see this is very rare. I'm sorry things went wrong for you.

Not much space, little choice for breakfast and didn’t feel so COVID safe as previous restaurants visited in area. Hubby fancied full English but not a chance 😢 he had bacon roll ok but nothing special, I opted for garlic mushroom on toast. Drinks arrived quickly 😊 wouldn’t pick mushrooms again as flavour nice but very greasy and toast difficult to cut through with knife provided. Didn’t feel safe visiting toilet as didn’t look to be place where I would feel safe. 🥴

Decided to eat here as it looked very inviting, staff very rude and abrupt, should have got up and cancelled order as it doesn’t matter how good the food was when you are eating it with angst.
No excuses, politeness costs nothing.
Will never return.

Popped in for a hot snack and a cuppa. Staff were very friendly and the food top notch, home made cheese scones with bacon and maple syrup, yummy, a taste sensation. Highly Recommended.

We stopped for lunch and were seated in the pretty courtyard at the back of the building. Our pulled pork burger and halloumi, grilled peppers and avocado toastie were both delicious, and the tea and coffee were also excellent. Service is very friendly. Prices extremely reasonable. Would definitely recommend this place.

We stumbled upon this cafe and were so glad we did. The choice of food was great - for once I found it difficult to make a choice from the wonderful menu available. The food was freshly cooked and delicious. I just wish we had been able to visit on more than one occasion so that we could work our way through the menu! The staff were really helpful, friendly, informative and were obviously passionate about their food which was lovely to hear (think it is a family run business).
Would highly recommend for breakfast/lunch/afternoon tea - whenever you want wonderful, tasty and well presented food served with a smile. We will be back …
