Went for lunch booked a couple of hours earlier in the day, and asked whether they could do a vegan meal. Assured they could - then 2 hours later really unhelpful staff member told us they couldn't and pretty much all they could offer was an open red pepper sandwich with goats cheese removed. Asked for water twice - never... More

Every now and then you visit an establishment like The Lion Inn and you leave feeling like you want to be a regular. As someone who traveled a fair distance to stay in Winchcombe over the valentines week, it has left me feeling slightly jealous of the locals. Pubs like this don't just spring up, they take decades to form... More

Went for dinner here and thought everything excellent. There was a nice log fire burning in a room off the bar with some comfy looking seating and there was the bar which was where we ate and was very nice too. There is another area to eat as well which looked attractive. Our food was delicious. We shared a potted... More

My friend and I met for a mid week supper, It was a cold wet night outside, but inside this charming little pub it was a warm welcoming night. The fire was roaring, the lighting just right and the staff were very welcoming. We had the most wonderful supper, shared a starter and had extra bread, at no extra charge... More

We arrived muddy and cold after a 2C 9 mile winter walk to Belas Knap ( google it, its also worth a visit). The welcome and subsequent meal was superb. Delightful staff, try the goat's cheese and beetroot starter. Absolute pub perfection! Muddy boots allowed!

we were in Winchcombe on a mini-break and called in at The Lion Inn for a drink, ended up spending the whole afternoon here and returned the next day for lunch, it's a lovely old pub with a roaring real fire and comfy armchairs in the bar, the restaurant is quite small but very welcoming with a rustic feel, we... The service was pretty faultless, and the food good. The one criticism I would level would be in terms of the portion sizes, which were very small. It was all very "Masterchef", but food does not have to be tiny to be high quality ! Given the comparatively high prices, I think there should have been more on our plates.

Ate here at Sunday lunchtime. Service and surroundings were fine. Had starters and mains only. Starters were quite small bearing in mind they were £7 - £8 each, particularly the goats cheese, tiny portion with a few random leaves. Mains were roast pork, meat and sauce fine but smears and smudges of potato and " apple puree " and tiny... More

An anniversary and where to go for a special meal – The Lion. We’ve been before and had an excellent meal. I should have had a look at recent comments. Yes, it was very poor indeed. OK the service was bright and cheerful with no complaints, but the food…. It seems there is a new chief there. The meal started... More
