I was really happy and satisfied to have chosen this restaurant. The food is delicious and is one of the best Indian food I have ever tasted! The prices are very good, the place is very nice and the staff very friendly. Super recommended!!

Visited with family on Sunday night, and the restaurant was very quiet. Not all of our party had starters, but just after the ones we ordered came out we were brought a couple of additional starters for free for us to try. We were told...that when the restaurant was quiet like that evening they’re able to do that to give customers a chance to try newer dishes that they might not have had before. And very nice they were too. We had a mixture of curries, rice and naan breads between us, all of which were cooked beautifully and were so tasty. We didn’t drink loads, a mixture of beer, cider and soft drinks. The bill was about £120 for 6 of us, which I thought was reasonable for what we ordered (not forgetting the free starters too!)More
We turned up on time 19.30 was told by Manager table not ready we could either wait or go to other side of restaurant so we decided to go round other side as it was quiet sat down and after a couple of minutes we...asked for air conditioning to be turned on placed order for drinks + 2 jugs of water water turned up no glasses 9of us ordered our starter's 1 hour later meals arrived questioned the waiter as the meals seamed incorrect and all so we hadn't had our starter's yet so the waiter went away and came back and said they weren't our meals starter's arrived about half hour later no complaints with that all was good hot then there was another long gap a bout 1 hour finally meals turned up every ones rice was either lukewarm or cold also some main meals were lukewarm at best when we complained we were told the air conditioning had made our food go cold from serving table to table how ever that did not happen with the starter's we continued to complaine but there was no apology or offer to reheat .Such appalling customer service no reduction on the bill which we paid in full (£177.20) this ruined my nephews birthday celebration will not be returning or recommending this restraunt to any body out thereMore
Absolutely fantastic food and service tonight. Genuinely the best Indian meal we've had out in a very long time. The new owner and his staff were so friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back! Would recommend 110%.
The food was delicious the chicken tikka biryani with the takka dull was amazing the stuff was very friendly and helpful great place to wine and dine
Boiled rice ( £4.25 ) . ANY standard dish £13.95. Astonishing. Staff were inattentive and only concerned with take- outs. Just really poor all round.
We had a meal tonight in The Gandhi, lovely meal & service & joined by one of their lovely staff later who we had met on a previous occasion & he remembered us, which meant a lot to us.Impeccable service,thank-you so much, we will definitely...visit again.More
To say I am disappointed is beyond belief , extremely over priced , and our bill was un readable we had dinner as a 6 and I am shocked we were charger £199 we have tried to work it out but we still dont exactly...know what we were charged for.... One of our tables order was wrong and when asked we got ignored to which thay person in our party just ate what they had. We were also the first party into the restaurant but the last party to receive our meals To say we are extremely disappointed ,we wont be visiting againMore
The Ghandi was always the place to go for a good curry. We have been customers for over 20 yrs. But this take away was very disappointing to say the least. It arrived cold and was not what we expected from the Ghandi. I phoned...them to complain and after speaking to someone about my complaint was put on hold and then cut off. I phoned again and mentioned I had been cut off but received a very feeble apology. We will definitely think twice about using them again. They need to sort themselves out if they want to keep customers.More
If you want to be ripped off then this is the place to come and spend your hard earned money A Christmas get together after covid with friends and family ,upon looking at the menu online thought food was good value until bill came total...rip off who charges £13.95 for one dish with 5 piece of chicken this doesn't include rice £51 for I glass of wine,1 pint,3 halves of lager 3 cokes and 2 lemonades what !! As you can tell not happy not only expensive thought I was in the savoy hotel at those prices and to top the lot cold plates a pet hate of mine. Used this Indian restaurant regularly not anymore When the gulshan reopens after the new year thats we're you need to go for hot plates hot food and you can take your own drinks much better value for money Should be ashamed of yourselves we deserve better !!!More
We had booked another Indian restaurant but had to change as they closed and remained open for takeaways only so having used the Gandhi several times we were happy to switch over to them with our party of eight. It wasn't very busy and half...the restaurant was closed off. The service was just ok but some items were missing. The COVID paper menu had now been replaced with a smartened up card board version but still only a page of A4. The usual pre Covid menu was not to be seen but on booking were told that the full usual menu would be available. It was not and there were many favourite dishes that we have had many times not listed so we asked and they said that they could do them (no mention of the double increase in costs). Everything was double the price served on cold plates. Of course we realised later when the bill arrived and were gobbed smacked at the charges. £190 (£27 per head) for two starters, 7 mains, around of drinks and poppadom's for all. One dish was usually £7.95 but now £13.95 would have been ok but they didn't even warm up the plates so went cold quickly. All in all very disappointed and think they would be better off just closing like the other local Indian but their prices came no near to the Ghandi's and we wished we had a takeaway from the other restaurant. This is now crossed off our regular curry destination. We need another Turkish barbers in the town!More
We visited Gandhi's tonight with friends, it was my first time and I can honestly say we will visit again! The food was amazing! the staff were welcoming friendly and very helpful.. if you haven't been here before I would definitely recommend.... thankyou for a...great evening ..More
Wow. And not in a good way. There was very little choice on the menu. Not even the traditional tikka massala, or a madras. I had the butter chicken, traditionally a mild curry, and it was very fiery. Husband had lamb byriani. The accompanying curry...never appeared. £5.50 for 800ml of water. Food was nice, but lucky none of us are vegetarian as no vegetarian main option! Won't be going back.More
We visited the Ghandi tonight after having several really good takeaways from here . The restaurant was empty apart from 2 tables on arrival which should probably have set alarm bells ringing. The menu we were given is nothing like the on line menu and...is very limited we asked if we could order things from the other menu and were told we could what they didn’t say we would pay almost double the price for it !!! 2 onion bahjees , 4 curries 1 rice , a naan , 2 sag aloos , 2 beer, a coke, a wine and a gin £116 !!! How is that even possible if we had ordered as a takeaway minus the 4 drinks it would have been around £40 . On querying the bill we were told things have gone up and they buy their food from buckwells not bookers ! But if we paid cash we could have discount , the manager was awful and really not interested and thought that paying an extra £7/8 per dish compared to the takeaway menu was acceptable . Absolutely disgusting been well and truly ripped off and will never go back , no wonder the place was empty!More
Apparently covid Menus are enforced by Portsmouth City Council as the infections are rising, (13/9/22) NOT 2020! which means a reduced disposable menu, which is obviously a lie as our menu had curry on the back of it. We opted to leave and pay for...poppadoms and drinks and went to Blue Cobra where we had a lovely meal ordered from the old traditional laminated full menu and our food was even served with a hot plate (trivet) that apparently is not allowed in The Ghandi due to COVID VERY disappointed will unfortunately not be returningMore
