Went in for a beer and food while waiting for a late ferry, absolutely 100% happy excellent beer and my wife's steak was superb and my cottage pie was delicious. The shiraz is highly recommended too

We were staying next door in The Premier Inn, we were disappointed with the drink and food options there, so popped in here, the first night we had 2 pints each, thought the menu looked goo so the second night we called in and had...fish and chips and the scampi and chips, really enjoyed it, so much so we called in our final evening in Portsmouth and both had the lasagne, which again was lovely, would defiantly use again if we are ever in the area again.More
Lovely carvery food was amazing very tidy and clean service was excellent all staff very polite and friendly
Turned up just before they opened and let us in out of rain. We had the carvery and I found it to be all fresh and tasty. Friendly staff. Will definitely go back.
A short walk from the station and the historic dockyard is the ship and castle. Not the most attractive from the outside, but a good place to go for a decent pub meal. Service was efficient, the menu was varied and portions were substantial. We...were in the area for a short visit but this pub seemed to be popular with locals as well as visitors.More
Visited with six other friends for an ex-works meal and drink. Great selection of lagers, ciders and beers on tap ( & DDC discount!). All of us were really happy with the quality and quantity of the meals. Staff all very friendly. Will definitely visit...again!More
What a great find! There were a number of us with a dog on a hot weekend. Bar & Serving Staff were friendly and welcoming and were thoughtful enough to bring over a bowl of water for the pooch. It’s a bright, airy interior with...a good selection of pub grub on the menu. Everything served up in our group was great, from scampi & chips, lasagne, burgers to apple crumble. Would recommend!More
Cracking pub, background music and the food exceeded expectations! Amazing portion sizes and reasonably priced. Staff all friendly and extremely attentive. Will definitely go again.
Had a lovely meal for four of us last night all the staff were fantastic especially the lovely lady manager will definitely be back
5 of us looking for a decent meal, unfortunately didn’t bother ordering. Purchased 5 pints of ale whilst viewing menu to order and we all noticed how dirty looking the beer glasses were. Mentioned this to member of bar staff who seemed to take this...badly, physically shrugged shoulders and walked off. At that point we walked off as well to a find alternative dining venue for rest of week.More
Here for a meal after a film, Two of us shared the Broccoli and Mushroom Teriyaki Stir Fry. This was sufficient for us two and tasty. We were advised of a 30minute wait for food when we ordered and the food came within this time.
So cheap and so deliciously filling. Traditional food and values within a stone’s throw from the Historic Dockyard.
Nice and quiet, when other places around the Historic Dockyards are busy. Food wasn't bad, not the best, but certainly passable and reasonably priced. Pleasant and polite and friendly staff. And the pub is child friendly.
Located near the historic shipyard, the pub has good views of the harbour. We just made the cut off time for food on a Sunday night of 7:30pm. The staff were friendly and efficient. There were a group of patrons who were a bit drunk...and the staff moved them on out of the pub, which seemed like responsible service of alcohol - well done. The food was good and the prices reasonable. The pub could probably do with a bit of a refurbishment but that didn’t impinge on our enjoyment during our visit.More
I booked this place for four of us after a quick search online for good roasts/carvery’s in the area. I was a little dubious but I must admit I was very pleasantly surprised. The decor is a little dated, but it had a lot of...charm and was very clean and well kept. The staff were all friendly and very attentive. There was a good selection of lagers and ales (all very reasonably priced), as well as Fentiman’s soft drinks and Fevertree tonics. The carvery comprised of well cooked, quality meat joints, crispy roast potatoes, the best Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese as well as leeks in cheese sauce along with a good selection of veg, stuffing and gravy! Everything was replenished as necessary and the serving station kept clean and tidy (despite copious gravy and cauliflower cheese dribbles). The rest of the menu looked very appealing too, with some other traditional home made pub dishes. Overall excellent value. We will definitely be back!More
