Our philosophy echoes that of the Italian Bacari - that the simple pleasures are the most important for our health and wellbeing. Good wine, delicious food and the company of friends are the recipe for a life well lived. Relax with us and enjoy a few Chicetti (small plates) a glass of wine and take pleasure in the moment, free from worry. Pleasure is the greatest good.

Visited for my boyfriends birthday with family. Staff were accommodating from the start by placing us at the big table in the bar so we could bring the dog. Friendly and attentive staff helped to make the birthday boy feel truly spoilt and a special...shout out to Celso for going above and beyond. Food and cocktails were amazing - can highly recommend the arancini! Look forward to our next visit xMore

We held our daughter's 21st birthday meal at Bacaro and it couldn't have been better. We made several very short notice changes, including last minute cancellations and telling them about a gluten free guest an hour before service when we were supposed to pre-order being...a large group, but the staff were really tolerant and accommodating and helpful. They let me in early to decorate the table, and the restaurant had such a lovely decor and atmosphere so it really felt like the special occasion it was. Most importantly, the food was amazing and varied, with plenty of veggie and GF options. Tilly, who was allocated to look after our table, was incredibly attentive and friendly, and made us all feel so welcome. As a result we had a wonderful, memorable evening and our daughter was over the moon. Thank you all so much for making the occasion so very special!More

Had a great meal here and even for a Tuesday night, there was a lively atmosphere which already goes to show others feel the same! Excellent service and friendly recommendations that were just right! Loved the different plates and probably could have eaten every one...of them! Lovely building and cool, smart decor . Would definitely come back if ever were in Southampton again.More

I have never been here before until now and I was so pleasantly surprised by the customer service from everyone. One individual that stood out by far was Lukas the bar man! He is great at making drinks and has amazing chat. Will definitely be...coming back here simply due to this brilliant customer service from him!More

Visited today with my daughter and we both had the Sunday roast chicken which was amazing! Portion sizes are huge and I love the idea of the veggies and potatoes come out on a sharing platter. Cocktails are nice too. Only criticism would be service...was a little slow but I did overhear the waiter, bless him telling another table that they were understaffed by 2 today, so can't really be helped. I would definitely visit again though and highly recommend going on a Sunday for an amazing roast!More

Brilliant service. Lovely cocktails. Amazing food. The only tiny tiny thing I’d say is that the food all comes out at once (they did tell us this) but the issue is as a table of two you’re basically done with food after half an hour....I’d advise anyone to order 2/3 plates at a time. Would definitely go again.More

This review is done over 3 visits. 1. Decided to have Sunday lunch here, I had the 3 meat roast and it didn't disappoint in any way. The meat was perfectly cooked, I had the beef, lamb and chicken. All the meat was very tasty...and had hardly any fat on it 👍 The vegetables were well cooked and perfectly seasoned, the gravy was of just the right consistency and set up the meal up perfectly. The roasted parsnips and potatoes were a mouth sensation and If I could I would eat a whole plate of them ☺️ 2. I decided on a simple evening meal and obvs picked here. I went for the arancini, the spicy prawns and a garlic flat bread. The prawns were lovely and spicy, hot and gorgeous, and the marinade they were served in was simply stunning. The arancini served here is the best I've ever tasted, light and fluffy and served with a scrumptious dip ... A winner all day long ☺️ 3. Last but not least I decided the other day to have another light dinner ... Again the arancini was picked and this time I went for the whitebait to accompany the little balls of pleasure. Again both dishes were hot, divine, tasty and demolished with gusto ☺️👍 What is striking about Bacaro is the service, ambiance, cleanliness, it's independent and above all the staff who absolutely make this place what it is. Lucy the owner is blessed with wonderful people who absolutely do this place justice. Sophie, Greg, Alex, Monica, Celso, Lukas, Ana, Tilly, Laura, Rita all the kitchen staff and some staff who's names I don't know yet, I thank you all for always making my guests and I feel so welcome, nothing is too much trouble for any of you which shows true class 😘 Highly recommended ... But book early otherwise you will be disappointed. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐More

Bacaro was highly recommended to us and it didn’t disappoint. Went for a late Sunday lunch and the four of us all had the mixed sharing roast. There was a very generous amount of meats - lamb, beef and chicken, plus the trimmings of stuffing...and a good sized Yorkshire pud. The veg was served separately and there was a great selection of roast potatoes, parsnips, cauliflower cheese, carrots, cabbage and mashed swede & carrot, with plenty of rich gravy. The staff were attentive and friendly, especially our waiter Laura - she was lovely!More

I went to Bacaro having never been before with my family for my 21st birthday meal. I can happily say that it's the best restaurant I've been to in Southampton, with the highest quality of food. Everything we had was absolutely delicious, with a standout...being the steak. The cocktails were bloody tasty and the selection of drinks was awesome. I will definitely be back!More
