The restaurant was empty on arrival and we chose to sit outside ,
Service was a little slow, and server went home half way through our meal and new member appointed
Starters were ok , the steak tartar was the star of the show
Mains were banging steaks seared and rested soft and juicy
Fish was a farmed sea bass for the money and the quality of the mains on the whole would of liked to have seen a nicer piece of fish
Had to place order inside for puddings
Which were ok.
On the whole was a good experience
But could polish up on a few skills of service
Service charge should be earned and not expected, when we booked we said we were coming from a graduation, and paid a requested deposit, but no congratulations or recognition, simple social service skill's

We came as a group of 8 and everything was 10/10. The staff were attentive, the food was delicious and the restaurant itself is lovely. Everything was reasonably priced too so we were able to enjoy exactly what we wanted. I would recommend this for couples, families and friends.

Crowded place, noisy, even festive: 4 birthdays at the same time!
We start with BBQ Beef short ribs and Steak tartare, then we continue with 3 Carnicero mixed grill that we can not finish because the courses are very generous.
Not fast service, is part of the festive atmosphere, hefty bill, in 5 + a little girl we spend 320 euros!

Awful service from start to finish. Would not go back. Asked for a kids menu for my 12 year old and because she didn’t have ID they would not allow her to have a children’s meal. I don’t tend to carry her passport around with me. If we hadn’t paid the deposit I would have left. We were charged £1 extra to swap from triple cooked chips to normal fries. Another absolute joke. And to top that off we HAD to pay a compulsory 10% service charge. Food was ok. Not the best but to be treated the way we were was awful. Avoid if you have children.

Plain and simple, avoid. Food is average at best. If you enjoy steak here you clearly haven’t had a decent steak yet. Harpers, Porters etc are another level compared to this. Bland and flavourless, manager argues all he does is cook meat. Technically speaking yes, but clearly not doing it as well as others. Waiter had a massive attitude, manager tried to avoid coming to speak to us when we asked for him and instead pushed a waitress to come for payment.
In summary it was a huge disappointment, awful food, massively overpriced, very poor and actually rude service staff and management.
Owner doesn’t care about aiming for return custom, happy with leaving people disappointed and knowing they will never return

We went for a family lunch catch up as there was a recent birthday, out of 5 of us 3 had a roast, 1 rump steak and a burger.
The roasts were great, the steak itself was fabulous (we didn’t want the peppercorn sauce) but it came with one small slice of mushroom and half a head of garlic. It said came with garlic mushrooms so very disappointing, I’m adding pic of it, we all had a laugh over it tbh.
The low score is because of the very poor service. Of course it’s Sunday and busy but there was no checking back in for drinks or to check our meals were on.
Of the drinks we ordered first they forgot the cup of tea, had to go and ask for it. We later asked for more water, again forgotten. My nephew asked for another appletiser, this also never came and we had to get it taken off the bill. When we paid the gentleman asked if all was ok and I said the food was good but service disappointing and said about l the forgotten drinks he just said ‘yeah’ and had a service charge automatically on the bill.we didn’t want to make a fuss and the place was busy so we just laid it and left. It’s a shame the service really let this place down, if you know you’re going to be busy please make sure there’s enough staff to look after people. It wasn’t a cheap lunch, about £180 all in for 5 of us and only one drink each . Wouldn’t go again because of the service

Another amazing evening courtesy of the great team at this restaurant. A group of us had a wonderful time, with delicious food and some very good wines. Wait staff were knowledgeable and helpful, food and drinks came up at optimal times even though the restaurant was almost full. Fish appetisers were fresh and well seasoned, the scallops and prawns are highly recommended! Steaks were perfectly cooked and flavourful, the Chateaubriand was amazing and perfect for two people with good appetites. Finished the evening with limoncello and dessert - the homemade apple cake is not to be missed!

Four of us went here last Thursday, 23rd February, three non-steak meals were fine but my expensive rib eye steak was almost one huge piece of gristle.
The waiter asked if our meal was ok and I said, not really and waggled my hand from side to side to indicate 'dodgy'. The complaint was laughed off with words I could not understand.
My friends were enjoying their meals so I didn't make a fuss, just left a pile of the , more unswallowable lumps on my plate.
I won't be visiting this place again.

We went to celebrate my husband's birthday here - food was absolutely delicious, and so was the wine. The steak and lamb shank we had were cooked to perfection!
Sadly we had an overall negative experience as a few members of the wait staff were very cold and blunt when we were ordering/asking questions about the menu, and also blatantly acted like they wanted to move on as soon as possible.
When I discretely raised this service issue with the asst manager, he simply said sorry and that they didn't mean it - trivialising the experience.
The music was very loud and other customers were speaking loudly as a result to be heard, making it a very uncomfortable setting. However they did kindly turn down the music slightly when asked, which much improved the ambience.
Never in any restaurant have I been asked to pay a surcharge to swap the side of fries that come with steak to another standard side in the menu, they don't even let you change the sauce to another standard one without a surcharge. Considering the bill for 2 came close to £100, these surcharges feel extremely petty.
Lastly, I booked a table weeks in advance with a note that it would be my husband's birthday celebration - any other restaurant we have been to for a celebration would at least acknowledge it with a wish/greeting but there was nothing other than staff that couldn't be bothered throughout the evening.
So all in all the food is sadly not what we will remember about this place, but rather me feeling disheartened that I picked the wrong restaurant to celebrate an important evening. Delicious food, but not worth the experience.

We visited Carnicero yesterday and in fact we have not visited a restaurant that is so unprofessional and incapable of the services that they offer . I was UTTERLY disappointed. To begin with they got our orders messed up , a very long wait and even serving and paying attention to people who came in later than us . I would not recommend this place to ANYONE ! The management have to get their act together otherwise the restaurant will go "downhill"

Good steak let down by accompaniments.
Menu states Triple Cooked Chips. Reality is cheap frozen chips complete with black potato eyes. Dry mushrooms with half a overcooked tomato , budget ketchup when they should be using Heinz.
I did talk to the manager in particular about chips. He replied that cooking from fresh potato would take too long and would have to be more expensive (a chip shop can do it fresh for £2!)
Had they not over described the chips I may not have been as disappointed, if you are charging top dollar for food you can’t penny pinch.
I spoke to a client on the way out , he had frozen onion rings that he had been charged £4.50 for , his comment the 99p for a whole bag from Iceland were superior.
Based on the quality of the steak I may have returned , based on the other quality of food veg & condiments and the manager essentially arguing with me we won’t.
There are other steak restaurants in Southampton that can deliver the whole package at this price point.

Have visited more times than I can remember. However this was for my big 5 0 and there were 15 of us. A pre order was required and apart from a mix up on my part all the meals came out within a reasonable time and we're enjoyed by everyone. All the staff were patient when people were umming and ahhing about drink orders even though they were busy.

Situated in Oxford Street this family run independent restaurant is the best in my humble opinion. Run expertly by Reza and his wife this is the standard that all restaurants should aim for.
As you enter it has a homely friendly feel about the place. Tonight we were served by Christos, a lovely friendly guy, nothing is too much trouble for him.
After drinks I went for the braised lamb shank, the lady went for the rump steak and the boys a beef burger and chicken burger, we also ordered garlic bread. The lamb shank was tender, tasty and the meat fell off the bone, it was an absolute pleasure to be served such a wonderful dish !! The gravy was wholesome, tasty and complimented the dish, this also came with new potatoes. The rump steak was cooked to perfection, she doesn't like any blood oozing from it and there was none to been seen, this came with salad and chips and by all accounts it was superb... Well done. The boys said there massive burgers were "banging" which I take is good 😊 They said it was the best they have tasted 😊 The place was very busy so to produce food of this highest quantity shows that they know what they are doing and are all working as a team ... For that to happen shows how good the place is. Christos was superbly backed up by Laura, Lukas and the legend that is Celso 😊 I apologise now for not getting the names of the other people working on the night we were there. I recommend you book a table as it is always busy so you are not disappointed. Very highly recommended 👍🥂🍻

I find it truly shocking that some people are still so uneducated about special needs!
Just returned home from what was supposed to be a nice evening out with family at carnicero in Southampton but instead it turned into utter chaos!
We arrived, were seated, everything was fine, staff seemed polite etc that was until our severely autistic 5 year old nephew got upset. Yes he screamed, yes he cried and yes we tried to calm him but to have a member of staff come over and tell us to keep him quiet was completely and utterly disgusting!
Instead of coming over and asking if there was anything he could do or if everything was ok he proceeded to move people from around us whilst muttering then came to the table, rolled his eyes, nodded his head at our nephew and said ‘come on’. When he was asked what he just said he repeated ‘well come on’! He was told he had severe autism and we were trying to calm him but he didn’t seem in the least bit bothered with what he’d been told.
With this we told him he could keep his food, we’d go elsewhere and at not one point did he apologise for what had been said, he just said we should have told them when we got there.
Now, correct me if I’m wrong but in the 21st century I didn’t realise we had to declare our disabilities when booking a table and even if we had made them aware what were they planning on doing? Seating us out the back away from everyone? Turning us away? Because if I’m totally honest that probably would have been less insulting than being told to shut him up.
As a family who dine out every weekend we have never ever had a restaurant make us all feel how we did tonight so safe to say we won’t be returning EVER!
This place claims it’s a family restaurant but I guess that’s for the children that sit down and don’t breathe not children that have special needs.

Lively atmosphere for a Friday night dinner for son’s birthday. Staff were all amazing and so professional with every table looked after. Steaks were amazingly tender and that flamed grilled taste awesome. And for the triple cooked chip! Wow. Would recommend booking in advance as groups turned away so this is extremely popular. Deserts delicious if you have room.
