I went here on Valentine’s Day with my date and we opted to share The Group board between the two of us as it sounded manageable (it’s designed to serve 4). It cost £50 and we got to choose 6 meats, 8 cheeses and 2 chutneys from a very interesting selection. The portions were extremely generous and you’re also provided with bread as well as salad, so it soon became clear why it was meant for 4! All the food tasted incredible though and the ‘grazing’ style felt relaxed, fun and unhurried. The wine list was extensive and we opted for a lower priced Merlot followed by a slightly pricier Rioja, both were lovely. Our bill came to just over £100 which is completely justifiable given the size of the servings. The staff were attentive and friendly, even bringing out a complimentary dessert tray at the end. The decor is a nice mix of traditional and rustic which created an intimate, friendly atmosphere. Porter’s is the ideal place to take a special someone that you’re keen to impress, Valentine’s Day or otherwise.

I visited Porters yesterday for the first time and was not disappointed - they have a great wine selection at very reasonable prices. The charcuterie boards are delicious, good portion sizes and so much variety and choice. The decor is also lovely as are the staff!! 100% recommend and can’t wait to go back!!

This Wine bar specialises in British charcuterie and cheese. We booked for lunch at short notice on Sunday as we wanted to avoid a traditional Sunday lunch. The interior is very pleasant and the staff are very professional and friendly. We ordered a mixed cheese and charcuterie board for two which cost £24.95. It was a generous serving, there is plenty to choose from and the quality of all the products was very good. We had a very enjoyable lunchtime.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, talking us through the selection of delicious cheeses and meats we had selected. They accommodated our larger party and were very patient. There was a limited choice of wines by the glass but they were well selected and very drinkable. I had a lovely evening with friends and am already looking forward to sharing a bottle on my next date night.

First impressions were very good. Loved the decor and nice small restaurant with very attentive and helpful staff. Started with baked Camembert which was one of the best I have had. Unctuous and very tasty with tonnes of bread to mop it up. Duo platter with 4 meats and cheeses was simply divine and huge! Loads of bread and a nice bit of salad, gherkins, pickled onions, sun-dried tomatoes and olives. Very impressed with guy serving as he recognised that service was a bit slow and was extremely apologetic. Wine list small, maybe a bit pricey. Cannot recommend it enough. Brilliant restaurant!

We were looking forward to coming here for quite some time and made a booking for early Wednesday evening. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, clean and has a very welcoming and cosy environment. We did enjoy ourselves, no doubt about that, but some things were really hit and miss. The 2 servers were friendly and polite, so in all honesty I feel bad mentioning the service, but we had to call them over at least 5 times, to order our first drink, to then order our food etc. We asked what the croquettes of the day were and the waitress said she would find out, 10 mins later we asked again. We all felt that they just lacked a little confidence, making them a bit hesitant and not attentive. The food was good (especially the nduja and Tunworth croquettes that we ended up ordering!) The platters are obviously all made from natural logs, which is fine if you get a naturally wide one like my friend....mine was really narrow and stuff just kept falling off! Bread and crackers were excellent and very generous portion. The cheeses were all superb, as were the meats. The salad was ok, there were too many 'vinegary' options (silverskin onions, cornichons and pickled beetroot) so my friend who doesn't like that was left with just lettuce and tomatoes. Some cucumber, spring onion, pepper would be welcome for crunch. Overall the value was good (my friends both NHS workers found a discount code which helped too) The wine was very good value for the quality, our chenin blanc was 21 pounds. I ordered a special of fennel salami sticks. These were tasty, but I attach a picture of what I received. 4 small sticks, arrow pointing to them, cost me 6.50! I accepted it but my friend did comment to the waitress that that was a bit ridiculous. But my picture does show the quality of the platter. I would return, in fact I think I would feel very happy visiting alone for a lovely lazy lunch or dinner. I would recommend and I will return.

Arranged to meet for a long overdue catch up with a friend in porters and what a great choice! The bar was about 50% full on a Tuesday night and we had a lovely table with high chairs with loads of room around us. Milo and his team were great- attentive, informative and friendly which created a very informal relaxed atmosphere and setting. We had a couple of delicious drinks then ordered a platter to share with a bottle of wine. The food arrived beautifully presented and our selections were introduced to us one by one by Milo, which was a nice touch. Together with a nice selection of breads and chutney, this was a perfect food to nibble on while chatting! The bar was not noisy, so easy to talk and really comfortable- a definite winner! Thanks Porters!

Absolutely fantastic. The cheese, meat and wines were delicious and the staff couldn't do enough to help! We got the sharing board for 2 which was very generous and they kindly boxed up what we didn't finish. Especially recommend the Baron Bigot and the smoked venison, have been craving them ever since! The cheese is served at the perfect temperature so it's lovely and gooey! I'm adding my pics but I'm afraid I didn't remember to take them until we'd started eating!

We visited for our anniversary meal and I am not sure either of us have ever enjoyed a steak dinner more. Food was absolutely delicious from start to finish, and great sized portions. We went on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy so the wait times were quite long, we waited an hour & 15 mins between finishing our starters and receiving our mains but it was all forgiven when the food came out! Super friendly staff who apologised for the wait. My husband loved the Japanese beer they served and my gins were presented beautifully too. Fully recommend this place, I think next time we might come back on a weekday night though. Thank you for a wonderful meal Porters.

I can't wait to come back to Porters. The food was amazing and very generous portions. The service from all the staff was incredible especially Dylan, he knew the menu very well and made great menu suggestions based on what we liked. The whole atmosphere was lovely from the chilled jazz music to the relaxed setting and beautiful decor. The staff went above and beyond. I can't not recommend this place enough especially the bottomless menu.

Visiting Southampton from Oxford we had lunch at Porters wine and charcuterie. We are so pleased to have found this restaurant and next visit will be for dinner. The duo choice was delicious, guided by Dylan who showed a good knowledge of the menu and helped me choose a delicious red wine to accompany it. All staff without exception were lovely although a special mention must go to Dylan our exceptional waiter!

I visited with my partner who is lactose intolerant and the staff were so amazing at suggesting a sharing platter that would work for us. Turns out they have some knockout vegan cheese options that they could sub in for him. Such a great relaxing experience.

I have been to Porters a few times now and every time has been amazing food and amazing service! On Saturday me and my friends visited for the bottomless brunch and had the best afternoon! The service was absolutely amazing… and I have to give a big shout out to Dylan who went above and beyond for us!! The food was incredible and the never ending flow of Prosecco was a highlight. Despite us needing to leave our table after our 2 hour slot, they were able to accommodate us and moved us outside and we were served some of their amazing cocktails. I would highly recommend a visit to Porters if you love Cheese, Meat, Wine and a friendly environment. Thank you for having us! X

Having visited today I would give them a big plus for the food but a big zero for misleading information on their website. We went for the Bottomless Graze option as advertised on their website, note the use of the word graze. We ordered food and were offered a bottle of red, white, rose or prosecco. We did think it would probably be wine etc. by the glass so one of us could have prosecco and the other something different but we weren't that bothered so went with a bottle of prosecco. The food arrived and we tucked in, enjoying it but after a while we were running out of bread and some of the meat and cheese, it was very tasty, btw they give you a Duo Board as part of this option. So we ordered some more bread and more of a couple of the items we had originally selected. We continued to enjoy the food. The bill arrived, on it were additional charges to the set charge for a Bottomless Graze. We had been charged for the extra meat and cheese we ordered. The bill was queried. Apparently their Bottomless Graze is not bottomless food but bottomless drink only. My understanding, and the dictionary's, of the word graze applies primarily to consuming food. Not to Porters though. According to Porters it applies to the drink only. So by way of information I thought I would point this out to any future customers. My suggestion is drink as many bottles of wine etc. as you want but don't over graze on the food without being aware that you will be charged for it. A further suggestion to Porters is change the name from Bottomless Graze to Bottomless Drink so people like me who don't understand your meaning of the word graze don't get confused.

Hi Gary, Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback, we are glad to hear you enjoyed the food! We apologise that you feel the advertisement was not clear enough. We call it “Bottomless Graze”, instead of the usual “Bottomless Brunch” term as we serve charcuterie grazing boards. The advert states “Create your own charcuterie grazing board. Unlimited red, white & Prosecco”, so we felt this was clear enough considering almost every “bottomless brunch” in the city only includes unlimited drinks and not unlimited food. We have never had any issues with this or confusion over the term “bottomless graze” in the last three years we have hosted this. With the rising costs of produce & utilities we are doing our best to keep everything fair & affordable whilst also surviving these hard times as a business. We hope this doesn’t deter you from returning to visit us again! Kind regards, The Porters Team
