My only worry in writing a review is that this hidden gem gets discovered and becomes every bit as successful as it deserves to be. We ordered a superb full english breakfast as well as an avocado and eggs with their mango salsa. Kids ordered pancakes and they were fantastic - very generous portions. All very fresh. Everything was excellent and tasted every bit as good as it looked. What really stood out for me was the quality of the ingredients; no cheap sausage or bacon here. The sourdough toast was also fantastic. Also the coffee, well it tasted like coffee. So often you find coffee shops nowadays cutting back on the correct number of shots; certainly not the case here. These guys and girls certainly know there stuff. Great atmosphere with friendly staff and lovely views over the river. We will certianly be back. Parking was also free and we will allow more time on our next visit for a walk along the river.

Let's start with the positives. The coffee is excellent, the staff friendly and it is dog friendly. However, the menu when we visited before Christmas was very limited due to 'staff shortages'. We last visited in February and the menu is still mostly things on toast or things in a bap which on their own are ok, but there is a lack of choice compared to the old, fuller menu. Also, the cakes have crept up in price but have diminished in quality and size. Dry, tasteless carrot cake and a tasteless, dry Pecan slice are examples of this and at nearly £4 they need looking at. I hope the 'staff shortages' in the kitchen are soon resolved and that some thought can be given to the menu range and quality of cakes etc as we do find the place welcoming and cosy.

Riverside Park needed this place. There are some offerings at the triangle but they do not compare. Coffee: it’s goooood. They support a local roaster, and all their cups and lids are compostable. Food: Anything with a poached egg is utterly grand. The poached eggs, avocado and mango salsa is my firm favourite. Their sausage rolls are something else (turkey and cranberry and the cheese and pickle are lush) and if you like cake you will not be disappointed! On a sunny day you can sit outside and look out at the water, and on the wetter days hole up inside. This is a child and dog friendly spot. Plenty of high chairs, decent baby changing facilities too. Staff are lovely. Clearly a team that all get on really well. James, who heads this spot is clearly dedicated, and had a vision when he first started this venture during Covid. We’ve been coming here since it opened and love it! Parking is just a couple minutes walk away on Woodmill lane and is free. Whether you’re going for a stroll along the river or want a lush spot of brunch, you’ve got to stop here. Tip: closed on Mondays and food from the menu stops being served at 3pm.

Great place to stop for breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake. Friendly staff and nice setting by the river. Delicious range of cakes and sausage rolls. The full English breakfast with Owtons sausages and bacon is particularly tasty and very good value too! Dog-friendly.

Superb. Really lovely place before or after a dog walk which is exactly what we did today. Always busy but lovely friendly welcome and great coffee. Today we tried a full breakfast for the first time. It was amazing.. I see another reviewer complained of the paper plate.. even that is a decently made plate so hardly an issue! Our food arrived hot, freshly cooked with great sour dough toast, poached eggs, bacon, tomato, mushroom and quality nicely cooked sausages. It was lovely- even fancy ketchup. All served with a smile and a treat for my dog. Lovely place, will certainly go again. Lots of breakfast choices, cake and sausage rolls all home made. Whats not to like… thanks!

Unfortunately due to staff shortages the hot food menu has been much reduced recently - hopefully that will be resolved before the summer season. They still have a good, sinful, selection of cakes and other snacks. All food is served on paper plates and cups but with metal cutlery, it would better if they could use more reusable tableware. The tableware they do use is labelled as compostable but that is pointless when ALL of the waste including recyclable bottle and cans just goes into the same general waste bin. It shouldn't take too much effort to install waste disposal points with separate bins for Compostable waste (Food scraps, paper plates and cups), Recyclable (Cans and bottles), General waste plus a box for used cutlery.

We're lucky to live close to Woodmill so we've visited several times since the cafe opened and it's truly excellent. The coffee is great, but for me it's all about the breakfast. We had the Eggs Benedict and Fruit Waffles today and they were both fantastic. The cafe looks pretty unassuming from the outside, but their cooking is genuinely some of the best I've ever eaten.

A really lovely spot to enjoy on a walk. Worth noting that Riverside Park is VERY popular with dog walkers, so this place is very dog friendly. Which in my opinion is a positive. But it won’t be for everyone. Good range of food and drinks. My only gripe is I think it’s a bit pricey for what it is, but it’s a treat so I don’t mind paying. Staff are always friendly.

Riverside park has long needed a cafe and now it has one. Set in the grounds of Woodmill activity centre overlooking the river it is great spot for a cafe. We stopped for coffee and a slice of cheesecake but it does have a more extensive Lunch and Breakfast menu

Soon becoming our new favourite weekend spot. We live locally and come down with our daughter to feed the ducks and have a play in the nearby park and we like to finish off with a slice of cake to share at the cafe. Haven’t had anything savoury yet but the food looks amazing. Cakes are delicious and iced coffees lovely. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. It’s the piece of the puzzle that Riverside was really missing.

Visited The SUP company and noticed this nice cafe nearby on a map, it is actually all in the same building! What a fantastic cafe. Wonderful menu and choice of snacks to suit everyone. We chose a feta and spinach pie and a goats cheese, spinach and honey pie. Cut in half to taste, both delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. All the food is cooked on site. All the food we saw come out of the kitchen looked really nice. There is a large free car park nearby. If coming from the M27 once you go over the narrow bridge by the mill then first left into the car park next to the canal. Would definitely go back to the cafe if in the area again.

Really disappointed, probably the worst lunch I have had in a long time. This is a cooked breakfast/ meat eating cafe only, no options for plain eaters ie a basic salad style bap or soup. Explained about one diner but nothing offered. Scones were rock hard/crumbled/ stale? Cakes look inviting but catering style. Lemon meringue pie stodgy. Breakfast bap was toasted black/burnt. Staff member disputed that we had had all three coffees ordered, yet we clearly had only two on our table! Got the third eventually. Clean, tidy but service/cost not worth it. Avoid

Food was really nice, I had the eggs benedict special with trout, lots of veggie and vegan options on the menu and cakes looked delicious. The downside to our experience was when we spotted one of the chefs in his uniform handling what looked like a dirty water tank and empty it behind the kitchen trailer which left a horrible smell, before returning to cooking. Safe to say we were quite put off considering the chef was also taking food to the tables covered in what I can only guess was filthy water. Good food but we won't be back in a hurry

Italian drink special = Asda cranberry juice, Asda orange juice, soda water and loads of ice. Tasted dreadful. Charging £3.95 you’d expect something more luxurious than Asda juices. In a cost of living crisis it takes the mic out of the clientele. Never going again!!
