Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had come down to Southampton to buried my mum and dad ashes as my dad from Southampton and the woodmill was my dad old family home. It was lovely to eat in what was my dad old family home and we come back when...ever we back down in Southampton to see my cousins and my family graves. We try the sandwiches and my bf had one of your sausage rolls and had some of your pops and cakes as wellMore

This cafe has everything going for it. Great location, good food at good prices, staff were very helpful & friendly today, I have been couple of other times & not so friendly. I really love the laid back style of the cafe and the building,...but honestly, walked in with my 3yr old & could have tripped over all the dogs. It's a small space and 7 dogs in there. I had to really think about where to sit, didn't want a french bulldog at my ankles which was also yapping. Saw a dog owner let there dog jump up & put their paws on the table & the chair, dog hairs everywhere, dog hair on my sons trousers. As I said, love the place, but today was like dog kennels. Not sure how health & safety allows so many dogs. Some kids & people don't want dogs all around them. Sorry, but after today, not sure I could face all those dogs again. It must be a way of cafes to try & get custom. Such a shame.More

Superb. Really lovely place before or after a dog walk which is exactly what we did today. Always busy but lovely friendly welcome and great coffee. Today we tried a full breakfast for the first time. It was amazing.. I see another reviewer complained of...the paper plate.. even that is a decently made plate so hardly an issue! Our food arrived hot, freshly cooked with great sour dough toast, poached eggs, bacon, tomato, mushroom and quality nicely cooked sausages. It was lovely- even fancy ketchup. All served with a smile and a treat for my dog. Lovely place, will certainly go again. Lots of breakfast choices, cake and sausage rolls all home made. Whats not to like… thanks!More

Italian drink special = Asda cranberry juice, Asda orange juice, soda water and loads of ice. Tasted dreadful. Charging £3.95 you’d expect something more luxurious than Asda juices. In a cost of living crisis it takes the mic out of the clientele. Never going again!!

Breakfast served on paper plates which means it goes cold.more quickly (I like to have hot food served on hot plates. Sausages were undercooked: grey is not a good colour for the outside of a cooked sausage and pink areas inside are not a good...sign, also. Simple tip: sausages need 20 to 25 mins in a hot oven or turned regularly under a grillfor best results. They should have a brown colouration over all of the sausage surface to be certain they are properly cooked. Bacon was nice (thick sliced and tasty). Poached eggs.on toast: there was water on one of my eggs which dripped off onto my toast and so made it soggy. Avocado was nice snd the mushroom was OK. Overall not good value for money given the issues above. I suspect this is a good place for coffee, teas and cakes.More

This is a favourite venue for me and my sister and our two dogs. We have been visiting for some time and have experienced a constant improvement. When it's warm we can sit outside with a view of the river and when cold/wet inside with...its quirky decor. The only complaint would be that it's too difficult to choose from the fabulous, good value menu.More

Great place to stop for breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake. Friendly staff and nice setting by the river. Delicious range of cakes and sausage rolls. The full English breakfast with Owtons sausages and bacon is particularly tasty and very good value too! Dog-friendly.

Riverside Park needed this place. There are some offerings at the triangle but they do not compare. Coffee: it’s goooood. They support a local roaster, and all their cups and lids are compostable. Food: Anything with a poached egg is utterly grand. The poached eggs,...avocado and mango salsa is my firm favourite. Their sausage rolls are something else (turkey and cranberry and the cheese and pickle are lush) and if you like cake you will not be disappointed! On a sunny day you can sit outside and look out at the water, and on the wetter days hole up inside. This is a child and dog friendly spot. Plenty of high chairs, decent baby changing facilities too. Staff are lovely. Clearly a team that all get on really well. James, who heads this spot is clearly dedicated, and had a vision when he first started this venture during Covid. We’ve been coming here since it opened and love it! Parking is just a couple minutes walk away on Woodmill lane and is free. Whether you’re going for a stroll along the river or want a lush spot of brunch, you’ve got to stop here. Tip: closed on Mondays and food from the menu stops being served at 3pm.More

A lovely hideout for walkers or just chill out visitors. A selection of snacks for breakfast or lunch and the most quirky selection of furniture. A big, free, car park nearby so what's not to miss?

Visited The SUP company and noticed this nice cafe nearby on a map, it is actually all in the same building! What a fantastic cafe. Wonderful menu and choice of snacks to suit everyone. We chose a feta and spinach pie and a goats cheese,...spinach and honey pie. Cut in half to taste, both delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. All the food is cooked on site. All the food we saw come out of the kitchen looked really nice. There is a large free car park nearby. If coming from the M27 once you go over the narrow bridge by the mill then first left into the car park next to the canal. Would definitely go back to the cafe if in the area again.More

If you are looking for something not run of the mill or bland then The Woodmill Coffee and Kitchen is for you.The atmosphere still retains some of the past history of this old mill. The venue is super dog friendly as my Bruce can testify! The staff...are overwhelmingly polite, friendly and caring. The menu offers a whole variety of tastes, and caters for individual requests. There are several dishes that are different e.g.the vege breakfast bap.The cakes are a delight.More

Visited on a Friday having heard good things and wanting to fuel up before walking the Itchen Way! I ordered the WCK breakfast which was excellent...great quality, perfectly cooked and really tasty. A very good flat white (and a decent size cuppa tea for my...wife) complemented it well. We couldn't resist the amazing looking sausage rolls to take away....so many great choices but went for the apricot and chestnut, and the chorizo and cheese - both were faultless... perfect ratios, well seasoned. Great range of cakes available which we also found hard to resist.... settling for just one ultimate brownie, which as brownies go, was pretty epic. Well worth a visit, and another and another....More

Soon becoming our new favourite weekend spot. We live locally and come down with our daughter to feed the ducks and have a play in the nearby park and we like to finish off with a slice of cake to share at the cafe. Haven’t...had anything savoury yet but the food looks amazing. Cakes are delicious and iced coffees lovely. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. It’s the piece of the puzzle that Riverside was really missing.More
