Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were in town for the weekend and stumbled across this bar. WOW! Great quirky décor, great ambience - everything just great! Actually sad we didn't find it sooner in our weekend. We had a good couple of drinks here and absolutely loved it -...will be back next time we are in town.More

Visited last night for dinner on recommendation of the friends we came with. Firstly, what a beautiful place. It was absolutely stunning. The lighting upstairs in the restaurant gave a truly beautiful ambience. Food was delicious and it was so lovely to see such a...varied and different menu to most other pubs. Service was fantastic....each member of staff really looking after us. Would we come back? Without a doubt!!! There are so many other things I would like to try from the menu!! Thanks DMB. for making our night perfect.More

Staff were brilliant, Rag n bone was gorgeous. We also ordered the baa baa black sheep, but there was no shredded lamb. The 3 chops were all inconsistent, one was perfect. One was a little dryer and was was a little too dry. It was...very busy, but disappointed with the lamb meal especially at £27. Some other items we wanted had run out but I'm not surprised by this by how popular this restaurant is and the atmosphere is incredible.More

What a great venue. The building and the way it is decorated is amazing. Great beers and service downstairs. Great service in the restaurant upstairs. Unfortunately the food was shocking. The starters were ok but the mains were awful. We left 2 of the 3...mains we had. Overcooked conjealed mess. We gave feedback but paid our bill regardless as we are not the ones to normally make a fuss. It was very busy, and alot of food was going back to the kitchen. Definatley worth a visit for the beer, not so sure about the food.More

Not the first time I’ve been here. The staff are simply awesome, the food is delicious and being a micro brewery, the ale is by far the best I’ve sample. Here’s the kicker though, dogs are welcome, in the bar or in the restaurant…they even...serve a dinner for dogs. Outside, warm day& the staff bring out water and treats for the dogs….how could you not absolutely love this place 🤷‍♂️More

We read reviews on this place and we were expecting great things. Unfortunately it was dreadful. The food was substandard, tasting like it was warmed up microwaved food. We would certainly not return. We waited for ages for the bill and we brought this up...with the waiter, he said it was Because it was the Boat Show Weekend. We found this odd, because there were groups of staff standing around? Talking to each other. Their Stout is excellent , but avoid the food.More

The beer is good but the food on our visit was awful , two thin lamb chops and a plate full of peas , we will never eat in this place again , service also very poor , staff standing around chatting to each other...and the young tall waiter leaving the toilet without washing his hands , AWFUL .More

With so many places in Southampton to eat this is one of the best for first class food, don’t be fooled by the fact it’s an ale house the beer selection is amazing and all in house and the chefs create some amazing food options...(even for doggies!) it’s not your standard pub grub it’s more gastro restaurant food well worth a visit, it’s worth booking as it busy but definitely worth it. Tributes to all the staff they are all very welcoming and great at their jobs and deserve a tip. 6 stars our of 5More

Lovely evening family meal upstairs in the seating area. Great to have a selection of in-house craft beers to compliment food. Had the Rag'n'bone beef which was excellent, well cooked and very tasty. Others had burgers which were good as well. Finished with an Affogato...and some great ice-creams.More

My wife and I had a drink here while spending the day in Southampton after a cruise. Great variety of craft beers on offer. Lovely looking pub with great wooden staircase. I would have liked to have spent more time and drunk more beer. Polite...and friendly service. Look forward to visiting again when in Southampton.More
