Had their Sunday roast chicken and it wasn't that great. Quite dry. Roast potatoes weren't very tasty and the vegetables were overdone. Went a long way to try this place but very unlikely to return

We visited the restaurant last Sunday for Father’s Day. The atmosphere was lovely and so was the restaurant itself. We were looked after incredibly well by Charlie who was friendly, quick and efficient; nothing was too much for him! My husband loved the complimentary little...beers he was given. Such a nice touch! We shall definitely come back!More

We booked the place for family gathering and we have had a really good time. Good and properly served food, very nice interior and the selection of craft beers. I would be happy to brand this place as "Excellent", however I was the one who...paid for everything and the bill prevents me from rating this place 5 out of 5, Good things are worth the high price, but certain proportions should be kept.More

We booked a table for noon, turned up on time, after wandering around the bar we found a member of staff, and were shown to our table by the barman, he said someone would be with us to take our drinks order in a minute....He just as well have said sometime this afternoon! We didn’t get our drinks until we had been there over half an hour, nobody had taken our food order by then too. When I booked I requested a high chair, unfortunately there wasn’t one at our table, so we had to get one from another table ourselves. When we were asked, eventually, for our drinks order hubby asked for an ale which was on the drinks menu, only to be told by our waiter they didn’t have it. Hubby chose a different ale from the drinks menu, was told they didn’t have that either. He opted for a third choice, and once again was told they didn’t have any! He ask what beer they actually had, and was sold one made on the premises, which wasn’t great. Why bother having a drinks menu if you don’t have the drinks which are on it, ridiculous, and disappointing! I asked for a rose Zinfandel, I was given a glass of white wine. I told the waiter I had asked for a rosé Zinfandel, he apologised for the error, took the white wine, and returned with a glass of rose. I tasted it after he left the table, it was really sharp and certainly not a Zinfandel, as I had been waiting well over 30 minutes I was thirsty, and and aware finding staff wasn’t easy, so I just drank it. When I saw the bill I noticed how expensive it was, every supermarket sells better rose by the bottle for £3 less than my 1 glass of vinegar was, not impressed! The menu has changed quite a bit, pity the chicken satay starters are gone, no pulled pork on the menu either. Several other changes too. There was no child’s menu given to us, so we had to order things we could share with the little one. I later asked why they didn’t have a children’s menu, was told by the waiter they did, but they didn’t have any printed! Ridiculous! Surely, seeing we had a child with us, he should have asked if we wanted to know what was available for children, even if he couldn’t physically give us a menu?! We ordered the ham hock, was told there would be a 25 minute wait for it, that was fine. We asked if the mustard mash which came with it could be served on its own asap so our little one wasn’t starving, it arrived 10 minutes later fortunately. He loved it, but there was definitely no taste of mustard to it whatsoever. Perfect portion size for a 1 year old, not sure an adult would have been impressed with such a measly amount with such an expensive dish. We also ordered 1/2 BBQ chicken with chips, plus side dishes of BBQ beans and skin on fries. Pity they don’t do the whole beer can chicken any more. When the food arrived we noticed the skin on fries we ordered were actually chunky chips (about 7 in a small pot), the beans were in little pots on their own, but barely lukewarm. The ham hock was nearly £19, certainly not worth half of that price. Once the large layer of thick fat had been removed from the outside (not even any crackling), and the bone had been removed, the meat left was suitable for a child’s portion. There was also a large blob of strong mustard on the plate the hock, it would have overwhelmed any meat, certainly not nice. No idea why apple sauce wasn’t served with the pork instead. Perhaps they consider cranberry sauce suitable with steak?! The chicken was average, but the BBQ sauce was only on the inedible soggy skin, so once removed there was no flavour of BBQ to the chicken at all. The corn was dry and shrivelled. The gravy was ok, but lukewarm. We didn’t get a check back, even though it was quite quiet and staff weren’t busy. We wanted to order more drinks, and desserts, but waited ages for anyone to come to our table, it took half an hour after we finished our main course for someone to clear out table (nobody asked if we wanted more drinks or desserts during our lengthy visit at all), so we gave up and just asked for the bill. We were told the table is only ours for 2 hours, so had they taken the drinks and desserts order I have no doubt we would have been asked to leave before we received them! Staff and management here have no idea about customer service. Pity, as they’re losing money because of their slack attitude. We would easily have spent over £20 more during our lunch. When I was given the bill I noticed they had the nerve to put a £8 service charge on! What service!!! I told the waitress presenting the bill I wasn’t prepared to pay for appalling service. She said (rather loudly) she would have to speak to the manager to get it removed from our bill. I guess the manager was too embarrassed to come to see me and ask what the problem was! It seemed she wanted to embarrass me (in front of other customers) into paying the ridiculous service charge too. We used to love eating/drinking here, but definitely won’t be back. It’s obvious management don’t care about customers, and staff are very poorly trained! We even saw the cook wandering through the restaurant a couple of times when we were there, he must have been bored. Not surprising they aren’t busy like they used to be. If you want to waste hours of your life for mediocre (small portions of) lukewarm expensive food, and get very poor service, this is the place for you. Anyone with sense will be going elsewhere! Fortunately there’s plenty of decent places to go to eat in this area, I highly doubt any sensible person would bother returning here.More

My boyfriend and I wanted a roast and we arrived to be greeted by the manager Ellie who was lovely and smiley!! Really enjoyed that they had a range of card, board and garden games available to use at our leisure (would be great for...kids). We sat in the garden playing some card games and right as we finished the food arrived. I’m a vegetarian and it’s been so long since I had a roast but it was honestly incredible I can’t stop thinking about itMore

Came here for the first time on Sunday for a roast after a recommendation from my girlfriend and she was right to recommend it! There’s a great selection of food, board games and beers (gluten free too!). Ellie was the perfect host and carefully explained...the beer choices and food and had great recommendations. Looking forward to going back again soon.More
