We had a meal for two bought as a fixed price offer as we were staying upstairs. The restaurant is slightly separate from the bar but shares the buzz and atmosphere. The menu was pretty straightforward, though the tasty blue cheese soufflé I had to start was more unusual (wife had breaded prawns and sweet chilli). We then had steak... More

We popped in on Sunday lunchtime, however the place was packed, therefore we came back later for Dinner. We didn't book but managed to get a table for two. Beware, the portions are huge. We shared a starter of duck salad, which was delicious. I had the cod and my husband had the pie. Both meals were very good. The... More

Based on others reviews, we decided to try the Old Vine for a pre-dinner drink. It wasn't at all what we were expecting. It is slightly quirky but lacking in atmosphere and was really quite cold when we were there.

What a great choice! We has Sunday lunch here, and the place was packed. They do take reservations, so if you know in advance you want to eat here for Sunday dinner I do recommend reservations. We were able to find a very small table quickly, and shifted to a nicer window table when it became available. The restaurant is... More

The food is good but the staff and atmosphere are not so...we waited an eternity to be served and each time the waiter kept messing up our drinks orders. Very cramped conditions and the bathroom could do with regular cleaning.

I have reviewed The Old Vine before as it is one of our favourite eateries in Winchester. We dined their today with two veggie meals and a scampi and chips which were excellent, together with the friendly efficient service and nice pub atmosphere. However, a minor word of warning. I highly recommended their fish finger sandwich previously but when I... More

Very nice service and delicious food. Very accommodating to give us a reservation at short notice. Wine and food menus are a little limited. We all had the avocado and crayfish entree and then a selection of the mussels, salmon and lamb shanks. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing Sunday lunch.

Nothing better on a damp winter night. Not being a beer drinker, I greatly enjoyed cider on tap, dinner service was prompt, and my entire party of ten raved about their meal. Hearty British fare with a slightly upscale twist. Dessert menu and choice of whiskeys was especially impressive - and enjoyed... though some thought the bananaoffe cheesecake was a... More
