Christmas dinner perfection

A group of 8 friends and a one year old came for our annual Christmas dinner here. Usually one of us cooks but we decided to go out this year. We made the right choice. From the moment we walked in we were met with a friendly greeting and shown to a beautiful table in a stunning room. There was tasteful music and decorations, and Christmas crackers and we were immediately given a welcome drink. We had already pre-ordered from a very well constructed and good value Christmas menu. One of the party was vegan and she was very well catered for with ease in all aspects of her dinner. The food was excellent. Served at the perfect pace. The lady and her staff were all top class. The lady herself went above and beyond for us and was truly outstanding. The fact that they really care about their business really shows. None of us could fault it and all had such a lovely special afternoon and excellent Christmas dinner. Would return and highly recommend in a heartbeat.

Delicious afternoon tea

Wonderful afternoon tea

We had heard of Aylestone Court Hotel afternoon tea from friends and it lived up to the recommendation. The owners were very welcoming and the tea delicious So nice to be served on a vintage tea service!

Great venue for a birthday lunch

Attended a birthday lunch my first impression was how really friendly the staff were. Food well it was a choice of several meals over 3 courses. The food was great across all courses. Starters excellent soup and mozzarella with tomatoes. Mains also really good, chicken salmon and vegetable Wellington. Deserts excellent, crumble lemon cheese cake or ice cream. Food has choices for vegetarians and gluten intolerant. Would recommend this friendly venue to anyone planning a party.

We are really touched reading this review as most often, feedback comes from the event organiser, so to hear such lovely comments from an event guest is very special, thank you. Hosting celebratory events such as birthdays and anniversaries is something we genuinely enjoy as we love sharing our hotel-home. We are delighted that you enjoyed the food as each event menu is created as a joint venture between the guest host and Michael so that dietary requirements and personal preferences can be catered for. Personalising events in this way and through the choice of table decor and colours helps us form a relationship with the guest host which we hope enables them to feel at home in our home. Amazing birthday lunch

Wanted something a little bit special to celebrate a birthday around Christmas time. Own private room for lunch for 6 adults and baby. Table decorated with '30th confetti' which was a lovely touch Amazingly accommodating and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely and plentiful. Honestly cannot fault in anyway. Experienced 3 breakfasts and 1 dinner. One full English excellent, second average. Cold buffet only average.breakfasts included in room rate so good value. Dinner ordered in advance, ok but overpriced.

Thank you for your feedback; we would have been very happy to provide a second breakfast if requested as all our food is cooked to order. With cereals, fruit and yoghurts available on the cold buffet table, we hope to satisfy our guests and are very sorry that you were disappointed. Regarding the evening meal, we price ourselves very competitively with other non-chain restaurants and use fresh and local produce, pricing the meal as a whole rather than per dish so that diners get a very good deal. We enjoyed a freshly cooked meal, excellent service and reasonably priced. Vegetarians catered for. Nice dinning room and the tables are well spaced out, not on top of each other.

Rather disappointing

We expected ''fine dining'' as advertised. The dining room was small with nice tablecloths and cutlery but so quiet that we could hear others' conversations. My prawn cocktail was very basic. A few lettuce leaves shredded in the base of a glass dish with tiny pieces of cucumber and more sauce than shrimps. The salmon main course was very, very nice. But the Eton Mess was actually a mess. The home-made meringue was actually large lumps of solid sugar. We didn't stay overnight so cannot comment on the accommodation.

Thank you for your comments which have already been shared with our kitchen team. We are pleased that your main course was good but are concerned and sorry that you did not enjoy your other dishes especially as nothing was said to us on the day; it is so difficult to know how to help now. One of our biggest concerns about your review is the use of the quote "fine dining"; we are not a fine dining restaurant and have never advertised ourselves as such and it would be really helpful to know where you have seen this label so that it can be corrected. Aylestone Court is a family run hotel with restaurant serving traditional home-cooked meals; with fresh ingredients and home-made food, we are usually able to edit dishes according to specific tastes which could also have been offered to you. The meringue could easily have been replaced by another had your concerns been raised as, of course, each individual homemade meringue is slightly different (although always more sticky in the middle that shop bought ones which are only ever lumps of sugar). We would really like to offer you a meal on us so that we can talk to you in more detail about your comments - please do let us know if you can return to Aylestone. Best wishes Jo and Michael

Still as lovely

Yet another wonderful afternoon tea enjoyed with friends at this delightful friendly hotel. This is the third time we have visited & are already planning a return visit. The venue is lovely & the afternoon tea that is served is always delicious & homemade. The lovely staff make you feel very welcome & allow you to enjoy your tea without rushing you & replenish you with tea or coffee as often as you want.

Fantastic food prepared freshly using local ingredients. Small restaurant with really high standards. Locally sourced Hereford beef steak is one to try along with the salmon and black garlic sauce.
