Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here with a mate for a couple of nights while we explored the nearby Malvern Hills. We had a fantastic stay. Huge thanks to the Chris, Heather and their amazing team. First class, friendly service in the bar and restaurant from Vicki, Ben and...Jack. We will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommended.More

Great pub super food, great service, thoroughly recommended. Best book because it was busy. Lovely touch, the waitress looking after an old man dining alone, boxed his uneaten half of his sandwich. They care

My family and I go out for meals often. This has to be up there with one of the best experiences we have ever had. They welcomed us and our dog like we were family. Every staff member was polite and helpful, and made conversation...with my 11 year old son which was lovely. They made us feel very comfortable and nothing was too much. The atmosphere was warm and cosy and intimate. The food was off the charts excellent! We all went for the pie and my son had the ribs. Everyone was so impressed at the standard and commented that the food was made with love. My husband and I don't drink and they had some lovely AF options which was the icing on the cake! Talking about cake..we were so full but had to sample the puddings and the Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was perfection. Thank you so much for having us and we will be recommending you to everyone and returning very soon.More

Stayed here for a few days for a birthday break. It’s a fantastic place, the accomodation was really comfortable and spacious. The whole atmosphere of the pub is welcoming with great food ( and beer) served by friendly staff. A bonus for us was that...it is dog friendly. Enjoyed it so much that booked to return later in the year for another birthday!More

Hadn’t been to the Oak for a while, although it was on our radar. It really is a warm, friendly pub. The food is excellent- everything was hot and well cooked. The staff are so efficient and friendly and the service throughout was exemplary. We...were enjoying our self so much and didn’t want you to leave, so extended the stay with a pot of coffee. We really do need to come more often!More

Excellent meal at lunch time today, 31st January. Great calamari as a starter and the pies were delicious. The wine was good and the Batham’s beer was outstanding. The staff were friendly and welcoming. All in all a terrific experience. Hopefully see you again in...the near future.More

We had, as ever, a great time. The meal was very good: I had scallops with bacon and black pudding, haggis with neeps and tatties and a whisky and honey parfait with mulled wine plums. I don't usually eat three courses but had no trouble...this time! Chris, Heather and their team worked so hard to bring us a mixture of music, speakers, toasts and jollity. It was hard to hear sometimes but the evening was really good fun and everyone seemed to enjoy it, including the couple who had driven two hours to attend.More

We are regulars here and the standards of both food and service are amazingly consistent. Always a warm welcome on arrival with a choice of drink at the bar (or by the log burner) or straight to the table. There’s usually always something new on...the menu, one of our party is vegetarian and there are plenty of options (which I’ve tried as a non vegetarian - they are fab). I was slightly concerned as there were a couple of large parties eating on a busy Saturday evening (which was explained to us) but no need to worry - it was impeccable as usual. I could actually see in to the kitchen. Given the high numbers of diners everything was going very smoothly and totally under control - impressive. The staff really care and make a huge effort to ensure customers have an amazing experience - which we did. If you can get a table grab - you will not be disappointed.More

On impulse my wife and I decided lets go to the Oak. Quickly booked a table on line and were there in 30 minutes. Its a very warm welcome from the fire and the staff. Quickly seated in the snug. Very romantic little room -...particularly for a lunchtime. With curtains drawn feels very cosy. Very efficient young gents served us together with very friendly young lady. What a great team. Of course it seems whatever you order from the extensive menu the dish is scrumptious dougskeggs@aol.comMore

My second visit and it will not be my last. I love this place....it is the 'local' we all wish we had - it is a shame it is a two hour drive away for us!! A country pub with rooms and great food; a...fabulous ambience and a management team who truly know what they are doing and care about their customers. The real 'icing on the cake' are the people, who make you feel welcome from minute one - the staff are exceptional....so friendly, so much fun, offering excellent service . I booked for one night but an hour into being there, my partner and I, decided to stay an extra night and we are returning later this month. Breakfasts are lovely and the food is very good in the evening. The rooms are very comfortable - we had a huge bed, lovely bedlinen and I love the terrace that comes with Room 1 which affords exceptional views of star filled skies. Whilst there we took part in the Quiz night - brilliant fun and so well organised. There are loads of events planned throughout the next months. We look forward to attending one of the music evenings and we will definitely return for Sunday lunch - I have never seen such a busy pub for Sunday lunch - the food looked amazing - a trip to Weston's Cider (well worth doing) and a walk up to Symonds Yat viewpoint (stunning on a sunny January afternoon) meant we missed lunch at the pub, unfortunately, but the evening meal made up for it. I am counting the days until I return to The Oak.More
