Not a Pub Restaurant that likes criticism, Finally came to take our order but did say they was busy. We ordered meals for 5 persons, 20 minutes later the first two came out and then after 15 minutes and us having to go and seek...out the manager we finally got our remaining meals, Meals came with a lot of attitude as if to say your lucky to get a meal, others have mentioned a old lady with long blonde hair, yes she exist and yes she does not care, let me tell you lady you are in the wrong job so try smiling and act like you care, part of the order was missing as well so WILL NOT BE RETURNING and advise others to try a more friendly pub. Galley Hall you are no Gordon Ramsey so less of the attitude and focus more on being a friendly local pub. no doubt you will try to defend your attitude but you cannot.More
Thank you for your review - good to see you didn't let the facts get in the way of a good story! I'm not sure if you have ever eaten in a restaurant before, but if you order food at different times the meals are...More
This was my first time occasion to the galley Hall, we went for a Sunday meal , which was a tough choice with all the different meats for a roast, plus a lot more choice if you didn't prefer roast , I went for the...minted lamb shack and as a qualified chef boy this didn't let me down it was fantastic as was all the other meals that my party received. Staff are friendly and always look to make you happy, I am looking forward to my next visit and believe they do a wicked ploughman's during the week , well done everyone and even the waitress that didn't really but a eyebrow when I asked for ketchup with my roast I'm just love ketchupMore
This is a great spot both inside and out lovely lunch, great service and music playing outside topped it all off will definitely be back

Well done to the waitresses also very pleasant & happy. Thank you galley hall. Top marksMore
We have been going to the Galley Hall for many years and have always rated it as the best pub for food in our area, however our last trip was extremely disappointing. Most of the staff were friendly except for the lady with the long...blonde hair who, quite frankly, couldn’t be bothered. Everything was too much trouble for her and she slammed glasses and a bottle on our table. It took an age for us to be asked for drinks and even longer to order food. I must say the food was the most disappointing. The roast beef was extremely tough and not freshly cut from a joint and the turkey had been obviously reheated. The chicken in one Caesar salad was pink and needed recooking and the other Caesar salad we had to wait ten minutes for, by which time most of our party had finished eating. The steak was tasteless and overdone and the chips hard. This was a special occasion and the food and service put a damper on the event. As I said we have been to this pub for years but unfortunately we will not be returning for some time.More
The Galley Hall team is quite hurt by this review. We are not an impersonal chain but a small family business and a review like this affects us all. As you say, you are a regular visitor to our pub/restaurant and it pains us that...More
My family have been visiting the Galley hall for many years, we have held wakes there and have been for many family meals over the past 10 years, however the service I experienced today was truly awful. We booked the meal for my Nan’s birthday...and planned on having a lovely meal. The starter came out, the garlic mushrooms looked nice however the King Prawn’s were very small and resembled frozen prawns from Brakes. However, we decided not to say anything as we wanted to enjoy each others company. When the main meals came out, they looked nice however when I cut into my steak it was very difficult to cut and appeared to be over cooked along with a very poor cut of meat. I absolutely hate sending food back, I hate the confrontation and how uncomfortable it makes everybody else on the table along with the staff - however I felt comfortable to apologise and explain it wasn’t cooked to my liking. The lady was very apologetic and took the food back to the kitchen, however this is where the dinner took a turn. The manager brought over a new steak and said he hoped that the this steak was better, I thanked him. He went on to say, “to avoid you wasting any more food, that steak was medium rare” to which I was very taken back by, I explained the steak wasn’t medium rare however I appreciate he may well be the messenger and passing on a message from the kitchen. He laughed in my face and said that he was the manager, I explained that the steak was disgusting and I couldn’t eat it that’s why I sent it back. The second steak was much better and we carried on with our meal, ordered a pudding which was nice and we asked for the bill. Once the bill was paid, he asked if everything was okay to which I replied yes thank you (to avoid any further conflict) the manager said that he didn’t want to go over old ground however he wanted to explain that he was frustrated and wanted to “educate me” about steaks. He went on to say that the industry is struggling and people like me wasting food is adding to the problem. At this point, I couldn’t believe that the manager was picking an argument with me and we had a very heated exchange. The main reason for my review is, I have never been left feeling embarrassed, abused and laughed at by the manager in a restaurant. I’m a very laid back person, however I will not pay to be abused because my food wasn’t cooked well. It is with deep sadness to say that as a family we will not be returning and I strongly suggest they hire a new manager with some people skills that doesn’t ask the customer to explain what is wrong with his people skills.More
I'm sorry you felt moved to make this review. You ordered a medium rare steak and this was provided to you. You sent it back telling the waitress it was overcooked. You told the waitress you considered it was cooked medium to well done. When...More
We had our Xmas party here. The food was lovely. Large portions, cooked well and tasty - what more could you want? The staff were efficient and friendly. Really nice venue for a Christmas party (albeit in January!).
Our lunch was on a busy Friday but all the food arrived together - large portions and everything piping hot. All the staff were charming, efficient and helpful. They even offered to take photos of us altogether. They made 12 people very happy!
Superb venue for a wake. Plenty of parking. Staff very friendly and helpful buffet was plentiful. Very relaxed.
We had our wedding reception at the Galley Hall and it couldn't have been better! The staff were so helpful from start to finish and all our guests said what a great venue it was. It was fantastic value and we were able to decorate...the private function room to our own style. We had a hot buffet with plenty of food for everyone including quite a few dietary needs. I would highly recommend to anyone think of having an event here!More
As regulars to this pub, we are used to great service and good food. We had my mother-in-law's wake here 2 weeks ago as we felt we would be in good hands. And we were. The food was pitched just right. The areas designated for...us were clear (lots of space, tables and seating) and we were kept informed the whole time as to how everything was going, and if there was anything else we wanted. Thank you, you made everything seamless for us. Well done!More
We have been eating at the Galley Hall for many years now, they serve great pub food, with generous portions at a great price. The quality of service is slick and extremely friendly, add to that lovely wines and ever-changing ales it all makes for...a great meal. Whether you want indoor or or outdoor dining, the atmosphere is excellent. The rear outdoor area accommodates you all year round and regularly has live musical entertainment. A great place to eat on Christmas Day too!More
Traditional pub setting a little dated. Went for a Sunday lunch a good choice of home cooked food. Staff were helpful and attentive. Will we return, definitely yes.
pub gorgeous, staff lovely, but food let it down sadly. found the meat to be 'cheap and chewy', parsnips/carrots not even peeled or top/tailed. roast spuds not particularly roasted that well. pudding fab, regrettably we wont be returning. but this is not a reflection on...the hard working staff, just the food needs improving for the roast in our opinionMore
