About
Dating back to the 16th Century, The Cock Inn remains one of the most popular pubs in St Albans. We are known for our great food, real ales and extensive wine list. In winter we have a roaring log fire whilst in summer we have a fantastic heated garden offering a little oasis of calm in the centre of St Albans.

A friendly cosy pub and restaurant- good quality food. Starter of salmon, prawn and scallop a little disappointing however the main course seabass was fabulous. Perfectly cooked, so fresh, great vegetables. Service good. There was some disappointment about the beef pie and I share their...More

The pub is interesting and retains much of the 'antique' atmosphere of old traditional English pubs. Personally, I did not appreciate the music and telly being on at the same time, but it didn't seem to bother others.

Arrived for an early dinner as the kitchen was opening. The place soon started filling in the dining area. Soon found out why. Excellent service, brilliant food, tasty and well presented and a little different. For the quality of the food also very good value.

My first visit and really surprised how nice it was. Lovely cosy atmosphere and good crowd. Particularly friendly young barman (Tom) who took the time to introduce himself and make sure we were happy by letting me try the hot mulled wine - it was...More

I've previously left a glowing review for The Cock, having eaten here probably over 20 times over the last few years. Not really sure what's happened, but the last few meals have been below average. Most recently we had burgers and they were poor. Frozen...More

Parking can be found within a few minutes’ walk. There is a large NCP multi-storey car park in Drovers Way, in addition to 30 spaces in Adelaide Street which has 1 disabled bay. A taxi rank is situated 20 metres away
