I heard a lot about this place - BUT, what a disappointment. Okay staff were attentive, but the food did not match. We had the tasting menu - it's fair to say the chef has been watching too much Masterchef on TV. Our food had very strange flavours in every dish - for the price our visit was a total... More

Went here today for their Kitchen Experience (gift from son and grandson). Brilliant fun. Made to feel really welcome by the professional chefs who gave me an insight into all aspects of kitchen service and prep. 2 hours just flew by. Learnt new skills prepping things for that nights a la carte service then joined my wife for a lovely... More

Cannot fault a thing. Amazing service. We had a drink in the bar before our meal and chose from the menu before entering the restaurant. Really lovely bar area. Fabulous restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. The food was fabulous. The crab bisque is highly recommended as is the halibut. Superb. We absolutely love food and all four of us were blown away.... More

We celebrated our wedding anniversary by lunching here with a tasting menu. The food was delicious, and the accompanying wines did ample justice to the food. My husband, who is lactose intolerant, was well-catered for; the lack of dairy did not equal a lack of flavour, which is often the case. The staff were welcoming, and the sommelier was very... More

At the prices being charged both food and service needed to be perfect, and they weren't. Food first. Presentation was indeed flawless - everything was supremely attractive to look at. However portions were not generous - to be expected at this sort of establishment, perhaps, but all the same, there does need to be some substance. At these prices (remembering... More

This was the first time I have eaten here for nearly a year as I was so disappointed last time. I came for a charity lunch that was held in a private room for over 20 of us. We all had "the ladies that lunch" menu & it was lovely. There were 2 choices for starter & main course both... More

We had a lovely time! The experience is in the eating! Fantastic! Great value on the set and even the tasting menu, the a la carte is well worth the visit where every mouthfuls sings on the palette.

Up to now we have always been impressed by Thompsons and so we booked for a special meal earlier this month. It started well although we were a little disappointed that despite our early 7 o'clock booking the main course special of beef wellington was not available. We thought the grouse would be a suitable alternative. The grouse was well... More

History: THOMPSON@Darcys the restaurant was formerly a row of four cottages predating the 2nd World War. The gates that flank the outside of the restaurant were produced by the Iron work shop here in 1979. The plot was finally converted to a restaurant in 1983.

Restaurant style: Today the restaurant offers a relaxed, fun and affordable fine dining experience. You will find us a modern, vibrant and busy restaurant, with each room offering a different feel and atmosphere without the pretence of formal dining.

What is Fine Dining? Fine dining usually brings dress code, etiquette and expensive to the forefront of most people’s minds. None of that applies to us at THOMPSON@Darcy’s, although we do have crisp, white tablecloths, at the request of our customers. However, OUR focus is the finest food and ingredients, creativity and taste sensations unique to THOMPSON@Darcy’s. Our service is attentive but not invasive, our staff impeccably mannered and our atmosphere relaxed, all of which contribute to an outstanding culinary experience, so that our guests leave feeling pampered and special.

Menus, Availability & Pricing: Our menus are ever changing, dictated by the seasons; Phil Thompson combines his classic training, culinary style and flavour combinations with his own modern twist.
