Slightly pricey but the food is excellent. They can accommodate larger parties as well as smaller groups. I came with a party of nine and everyone enjoyed the food. I recommend the lamb shank with Rogan Josh sauce. It melted in the mouth. If you want Indian but with a twist then this is the place to go.

We used to go quite regularly with friends to Mumtaj Tandoori and always rated it as one of the best traditional type Indian restaurants around. We heard they had opened Chez Mumtaj close by which was a blend of French and Indian cuisine and somehow never got round to going. Friends decided to have a birthday dinner there and invited... An excellent choice of dishes presented in the a la carte menu in very plush surroundings, the food did not disappoint. Soft shell crab, and duck samosas were delicious, Main courses of chicken and lamb tasted fresh. The chicken tandoori was nicely spiced and very well cooked. The lamb melted in the mouth. Service was very food as well. Well... More

Delicious Indian food in splendid surroundings with exquisite presentation. The spicy slow-cooked lamb shank melted in the mouth, following a most unusual aubergine starter that was simply scrumptious. If you think you know what to expect in an Indian restaurant then prepare for a very pleasant surprise. Even the amuse-bouche was top notch.

Upmarket with a unique and quite impressive menu! Everything looked appetising and there were four empty plates after each course. A bit pricier than your average curry house but this isn't your average curry house. Well worth a visit if you fancy something a bit special.

I had heard a lot about this place and was taken their prior to Xmas. There is a lovely Bar at the entrance which was busy with a party so we went direct to the table. There were four of us and we each had different choices from the menu. Each one of us agreed that the food was excellent.... More

We had a lovely meal here on New Year's Day. The restaurant was quiet but the quality of the food was excellent. We had the early bird menu and recommend the tandoori chicken tikka starter and chicken curry. We had extras and the naan bread was delicious. Definitely going again

As a family birthday celebration, I was introduced to this restaurant. I have to declare at the outset that Indian is not my favourite cuisine, but sometimes it can be spectacularly good, and this was definitely one of those times! The restaurant is exceptionally clean, almost with an air of a French Bistro, with high quality white linen, glass partitioned... More

2nd visit to Chez Mumtaj. It was a wonderful meal. I started with the seared foie gras & had the lamb shank to follow. The decor, the food & the service were all faultless. Also, unlike last time the wait between courses was just right. Very very highly recommended!

Our second evening visit here, one midweek, one Saturday. The latter being very busy and service may get slower as it gets busier. We booked at 7 and left at 10 without being hurried but restaurant was full. Our service and menu choices were great, the staff friendly and we had a great evening, all of us would return. Only...
