Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were visiting from London and stumbled upon this place. We really enjoyed our visit. Great music had us sitting there for ages! Great atmosphere for a Friday evening and very nice, happy, friendly staff. They also showed the sport which was a win win...for my husband.More

Great little pub and one of the best in Canterbury! Friendly staff and good drinks with decent music. Not much more you can ask for!

Lots of choices in Canterbury, but we made the right one! This pub has great food, great music, and a lovely inviting staff. Ash, the manager, was friendly, and inviting! If you’re looking for a great meal in a vintage Canterbury pub, c.1698, you’ve found...it!More

Since i arrived in the UK for holidays i had been trying to show my wife that the England has the best Fish and Chips. Much to my embarrassment everyone we tried where below expectations especially the ones claiming Traditional Fish and Chips. So we...decided to try one more in Canterbury, the Cricketers Pub and i and my wife were not disappointed. Ash the manager promised a great meal and thats what we got. Add to the meal the great service and friendliness of the staff it topped of a great night. Don’t hesitate, come to the Cricketers if your ever in Canterbury UK.More

Popped in for a drink before dinner. It was very busy but we were served quickly. Unfortunately our beers were flat so had to return them for a different drink. Lots of very loud customers, including a rather noisy child whose father seemed to be...winding her up and encouraging her to be as noisy as possible. We were unable to have a conversation so drank up sharpish and left.More

We attended an evening dedicated to Sri Lanken cuisine here on Wednesday 9th November. An absolute pleasure from beginning to end. The three course set menu had two choices of starter and main. This is actually the second time we’ve attended this event and will...100% be coming back again. For someone who has travelled widely and from tip to toe of Sri Lanka I can vouch for the food being traditionally Sri Lanken. A great night.More

Five weeks across Europe, Bristol to Rome and out at least three times a day over 35 days. Sitting back in Aus two weeks later three or four places stick in my mind as exceptional but genuinely good service. Ash at the Cricketers in Canterbury...was one such memory. We weren’t there that long but he just knew what to do and delivered as good an experience as we got anywhere. The food and drinks were spot on too and it’s a nice design 👍🏻 Well done Ash you really enjoy what you do and it’s obvious. Hope your boss reads this.More

Went here for lunch on the day we arrived in Canterbury. And it was pretty good. Real ale available and they had a decent sweet rose for my wife. She had a toastie whilst I regressed to the 70's and had scampi and chips in...a basket ! Both fine. Service from Ash was excellent, especially as he was the only one on duty ! Doesn't look much from the outside but worth a visit.More

I’ve been visiting Canterbury for years and always walk past this pub but never go in. Over the weekend the place we were going to eat was full and everywhere else was pretty full. We decided to try this pub as the menu outside looked...quite nice. There was only one table which is usually a good sign! We ordered burgers for our lunch and they were very nice. Didn’t take long to arrive at all. Very reasonably priced. £58 for five meals and five drinks three of which were alcoholic. It felt like a nice local pub but we didn’t feel like we weren’t welcome like you can in some small pubs.More

Unfortunately we ended up here last minute after the pub across the road was too busy. They advertise on the board outside that they have a vegan burger on the menu, which is why we went inside. Usually in a burger you expect there to...be pickles, sauce, a cheese slice? Nope not in this pub! they serve you just a patty on a dry bun. I asked if they could at least put some sauce or avo on it as it looked super dry & unappealing but was told no so I just ate the chips. It's 2021 now & you can get vegan cheese slices & sauces in literally any supermarket, it's just laziness at this point. Don't advertise that you serve a vegan burger if you can't even be bothered to include the very basic ingredients of a burger. No frills prison looking food and would never visit again for that reason. Will make sure to book ahead in future at lady luck who do amazing meat and vegan options.More
